My absolute favorites are both by MAC; Plumful and Fresh Brew. Plumful is a nice, natural pink that is build able and Fresh Brew is my holy grail nude for brown skin! Since wearing it, my bestie and mom have both gotten it.

I’ve been crushing on a handful, and can never pick just one! Mac velvet teddy, maybelline matte lust for blush, and revlon mauve it over. Love darker brown toned nudes or mauve purple-pink

Tina Avatar

MAC Viva Glam I is the love of my love, but I’m really loving how bright Manic Panic Mystic Heather is – it’s such a vibrant purple and totally perfect for summer here in NZ 🙂

Rosie Avatar

Me too! I always get tons of compliments on it.

I’ve also been wearing Bite Beauty lipstick crayon in Aubergine which is very similar in colour to MAC Rebel, it’s only been a few days but it’s been getting compliments too!

Clinique Chubby Stick in Super Strawberry! I usually prefer red lipbalms and lipsticks, but I received a mini of this one with a Sephora order and I’m in love. On my very pale skin tone it’s the prettiest dark pink with a hint of brown, a very my-lips-but-better shade as if I had been eating berries 😀 and it’s so moisturizing, which is great for this cold weather.

Irene, I received the same sample and love it too. I also own a full size balm in a slightly deeper color that you may like.
I don’t have a go to lip color as I try whatever I’m in the mood for. I like slightly deep pinks, warm peaches and rose colors. Since I am very fair, I don’t look good in very deep colors and sometimes have a problem with pastels looking chalky. I frequently mix colors too..

I don’t have a go-to lipstick. I change almost every day. I’ve been wearing a lot of purples lately. I guess when in doubt, I’d grab a pinky neutral like Estee Lauder Pinkberry, Max Factor Soft Suede or Performance Colors Pink Chocolate.

Hey Christine, off topic, but there’s a REALLY annoying statefarm pop-up add on your site today that I can’t click out of, and it enlarges and follows my scrolling the whole time I’m reading. Do you know if you can get rid of this? Thanks! 🙂

Christine Avatar

Hi Bonnie,

If you could send a screen shot to christine[at]temptalia.com, that would be great! I will start a ticket, since we 100% do not allow pop-ups (there are some ads if you hover or click on them, they will expand and so forth), but a screen shot would be helpful. Or, at least knowing what browser/device you are on?

Thank you!

i have problems with this too. i use chrome on an andriod tablet. the problem appears to be a scrolling ad bar that rests at the bottom of the screen, but it scrolls so slowly that it hangs the browser and makes browsing very unpleasant.

I have actually never tried Guerlain lipsticks! I shall correct that with my next Sephora coupon! My current go-to lipstick is MAC’s lustering, I absolutely love it!

My favourite red is from Chanel, the classic shade pirate. I always get so many compliments when I wear this colour, it’s gorgeous!

Mac Viva Glam 2 lipstick. Nude lipsticks are my thing! When in doubt I go for viva glam 2. Best nude for my NC15-NC20 skin and goes with any outfit or eye makeup 🙂

Cristina Avatar

For day, Guerlain Shine Automatique in 762 Rendez-Vous, and for night, Guerlain Rouge G in 70 Gigolo. Hourglass Opaque Rouge in Icon if I want a matte.

Whitney Avatar

MAC Crème Cerise. I’m insanely in love with this lipstick and incredibly vexed that MAC hasn’t brought it back, making me have to spend a ridiculous amount of money for just one. Does anyone know of a dupe for it? I tried finding one here but sadly couldn’t.

Otherwise, aside from Crème Cerise, my other go to lipsticks are Maybelline’s Maple Kiss and Revlon’s Chocolate Velvet and Mink lipsticks.

Pepper by Bite Beauty
Rose Tea by Estee Lauder
Admittedly, they are both about the same color, but I feel more comfortable carrying the EL in my purse. Pepper seems like it would melt our SoFla heat.

I’m really loving Tom Ford Indian Rose or Pussycat for an “everyday” lip look, but i usually keep a rouge d’armani in 510 or 512 handy as well. for a bolder lip, i’ve been reaching for tom ford black dahlia.

Eileen Avatar

I choose a lipstick color based on what else I’m wearing and often switch up colors during the day, but for evening, Tom Ford’s Plum Lush has become my go-to.

Johanna Avatar

My go to right now is nyx whipped caviar paired with nyx lipliner in mauve! Love IT! Mac twig with whirl lipliner is also my go to combo 🙂 and Mac viva glam III! And velvet teddy… My god I can go on and on

Jeanette Avatar

Loreal Mica. I can put this on standing on my head, driving, in my sleep. I’ve had my eye out for a deeper, cream version, but that can could require a more precise application. I like being able to slap this on in a hurry.

Mimi Avatar

I got this creepy pop up ad that says “Help Support Temptalia, Shop Amazon through this banner, Temptalia’s Holiday Figt Guides Best of the Best” and then as I scroll down to read the viewer’s opinions on what their current go-to lipstick is, the ad vibrates really fast to distract you and give you a migraine. I am on Safari browser.

Not sure if you can get them in the US but Lise Watier Naturel and Coco are my two favourites. Both are MLBB. Naturel is a right on and Coco a tad lighter. The formula is hydrating and long-lasting. I also just discovered Buxon lipsticks – oh my goodness – they rock. Love Hooligan.

Jillian Avatar

Dior Beige Casual seems to be the one I’ll gravitate towards when I can’t decide what to put on my lips! Either that or MAC Viva Glam V… both are pretty decent MLBBs for me. Still looking for the perfect non-shimmery MLBB though.

My current go-to lipstick is “Centerfold” by TooFaced. But I’m devastated because I just found out it’s discontinued and I can’t find it anywhere. I need a DUPE please!!! 😀

Sarah Avatar

Revlon Certainly Red is my go-to classic red, and for a MLBB I’ve got one of the Kate Moss Rimmel colors – 122 or 115 stick in my head, butI’m not positive right now on the number.

I continue using my Revlon honey or Jordanas chubby sticks (also called honey something) over e. ardens 8 hour balm for lips BUT i have started experimenting with lipliner. There is one -very expensive- lipliner by Charlotte Tilbury that lots of bloggers are raving about because it apparently plumps and “perfects” lips giving a pouty effect….and now they have identified quite a close dupe in the affordable end of the market: Rimmel’s Exagerate lipliner .I got the awfully named “East end snob” shade last week, kind of my lips but better rosy colour and I am impressed. It is matte but leaves a gorgeous all over lip effect. Great on its own actually but also creates a perfect canvas for layering over.

That’s a hard question since I tend to rotate my lipstick wardrobe quite frequently. I need one for every possible occasion. Some for work, some for after work, some for pyjama days, some for going out shopping, some for going out for the evening etc.

I have too many lipsticks but every time I try to shrink my stash I fail miserably. I like to keep some simply for swatching or because I love the colour even if the formula is awful (I’m looking at you Illamasqua). The phrase ‘just in case’ springs to mind.

Anyway, below are my current picks.

Nude/neutral/MLBB:

Suqqu Bright Up lipstick in Hanabeni
Dior Rouge Dior lipstick in Swan
Chanel Rouge Allure lipstick in Darling
Estée Lauder Pure Color Envy lipstick in Potent

Bright/intense:

Guerlain Rouge G lipstick in Rouge Parade (I’m so glad that this has quickly become my favourite red lipstick) and Gladys
Urban Decay Revolution lipstick in Jilted
Illamasqua lipstick in Drench (mixed with copious amounts of lip balm) and Magnetism
Revlon Super Lustrous lipstick in Cherries in the Snow
Givenchy Le Rouge in Magnolia Organza

Lipgloss/liquid lipstick/hybrid:

Lancôme Lip Lover in Framboise Étoile and Orange Manège
Dior Fluid Stick in Rieuse
Shiseido Laquer Rouge in RD404 (a.k.a. Disco)

That’s only off the top of my head. I’m not good at narrowing these things down but the above will do. Guaranteed it will be slightly different tomorrow. Not currently being back at my own place means that I don’t have access to all my lip products, which bothers me since I like to have the option of using any lipstick that I have. :/

The most current “go to” lipsticks are Make Up For Ever Artist Rouge Intense Lipstick in M3 Matte Caramel, a lovely beige brown neutral I wear all of the time. I pair that with MAC lip pencil in Stripdown, also a creamy beige brown. My second “go to” is Nars Pure Matte lipstick in Amsterdam, a lovely reddish brown. I love it because it’s not really red, just the perfect red with a brown base. It also goes perfectly with everything. I also pair that color with MAC lip pencil in Mahogany, an intense reddish brown. My current “go to” lip colors are not only at the moment, but colors that will stick with me for the rest of my life because they complement my skin tone. You can dress them up or down with anything.

My current go-to lipstick is Saint Germain by MAC. I work at Kirklands and at Game Stop and I swear, I get compliments from customers both male and female at both places! People love Saint Germain! I even had a lady give me money to purchase it for her. It’s definitely a great convo starter.
