Just to be clear, the shades that I have categorized as pressed glitter are because the shades contain plastic (PET) glitter, which is why they aren’t for use on the immediate eye area, and it is how we ensure that products with it come with proper notice for readers — the ingredient lists posted on ColourPop’s website show the following shades from the quads include plastic (PET) glitter:

– Zestful
– Malted
– Extra Bubbly
– Scooped
– Shaken
– Big Treat

Are these actually pressed glitter? I have seen advertising that they both are and are not pressed glitter. Also, do the pans come out like the 9pans? Allowing mixing and matching between palettes?

The back of each quad had at least one shade marked as not for use around eyes, which seemed to be the shade that had larger particles that looked like glitter (to me). The shades were often lighter so nothing about the hue indicated they’d be a pressed pigment (which would also be marked as not for use around eyes). I haven’t had a chance to see if they pans come out.

That was my suspicion and concern. There’s several youtube reviews up that are saying these are not eye safe because of pigment and that these palettes don’t have glitter in them, yet I saw colourpop calling them a glitter shimmer in their marketing. Personally, I wish colourpop was way better at labelling WHY shadows are listed as not eye safe. Also, glitter in a palette labelled as eyeshadow is a pet peeve of mine, I wish brands would stop. It’s a cost cutting measure that not only is terrible for the environment but also can put people’s eyes at risk!

It’s not just here that users are c/o the glitter/safety. I wonder about the CP thinking process. Do they think their major target market…young users with a fast fashion mentality (MO, only. No digs meant.) don’t know about the dangers of glitter, or want a glitter look regardless of the safety issue. The CP customer base is huge and maybe they DGAS, because glitter continues to reign. These quads: CP seems to have invested more thought in the darkest/most intense of both sets of quads. CP seems to listen about becoming more diverse in their products. Good. Not listening about safety? If any readers have any stats bout eye injury from glitter, please chime in.

Pressed glitter in a quad? What a waste of space… Other than that, they seem really well coordinated, good depth range. But then again, glitter! I really love Shaken but won’t risk an eye injury…

These are looking much better than their last round of quads and I ike the colour stories in each of them. Typically for me, I do like the shimmer shades in each of the palettes – especially Citrus Fizz and Cream Soda. I do hope that none contain PET glitter though – it would turn off the quads for many customers.
