ColourPop Blotted Lips have been reformulated and launched this past week with eight shades. The best way I can describe these is that they’re like a tinted, matte lip balm. Here are swatches!

Hmm, I think I could see wearing Melty under my mask without any noticeable mishaps!

Oh man I was SO hoping they’d bring these back (and make them less inclined to snap off at the base of the product). But … for something that’s already sheer and matte and low-key, how many freaking shades of “medium-light vaguely peachy tan” do you really need to offer? Can I get maybe a plum? A deep hazy mauve/fig? Any kind of purple? Muted crimson red? The top four shades are completely indistinguishable from each other, ditto bottom middle two. Whyyyyyyy.

My thoughts exactly. These are virtually interchangeable. Not my cup of tea in terms of the shades that are here. I am much more a pink/mauve/red lippie.

Oh ColourPop, you are breaking my heart! What’s wrong with extending the Lux lipstick range – that formula is so perfect and here we have these – they look under pigmented and very wishy washy shades to me.

The whole “blotted lip” product is annoying to me, because you can achieve that look with a regular lipstick, and also wear that lipstick the normal way. It’s basically a lipstick with reduced functionality.

I’m fascinated by the concept of a matte balm, but incredibly disappointed in those colors.

In the original formula, I got through 2 apps of 2 shades and had to wipe them off and toss. The texture was intolerable and creepy to me. Sure it’s a sensory thing, but uh, no. Not willing to try the new formula. The first shades were great, though. A purpley and an orangey. These, as most have said, are uninspired. Genevieve is right: the Lux are grand and could use extension, rather than doom.
