What color lipstick do you reach for most often?

Corals, still! It’s a very wearable shade for me, and it’s also flattering on my coloring, so it’s easy to wear.

Purples! Anything from pinky plums and ‘radiant orchids’ to magenta berries and burgundy wines 🙂

I do stay away from anything overtly ‘cool-toned’, but generally I just feel purples are more ‘me’ than pinks, reds, or nudes.

Corals, too! I do love bright pinks, berries, plums and so on, but corals are by far the easiest to wear on my skin tone (NC 25-30 with quite some yellow and a bit of olive)!

Red, bright pink, dark and light purples, and fuchsia. I enjoy wearing bolds, neons, vampy colors its half the fun of wearing makeup.

I heard *that,* Chanel!
For me, on lips, brighter is better!
I’ll read reviews before buying a lip color, since I have to do my makeup shopping online, and if many of the reviewers say they can’t wear it because it’s “too bright,” I take that as a positive indication. 🙂
On the other hand, if a color is often described as “very wearable,” “MLBB,” or “great for everyday,” I lose interest.

I am pale from being in a northern climate, so ,while I normally would go for bright pink when I lived in the south, lately I have been choosing understated color for my lips. Sheer red, brown and pink are my new go- tos

Mauve based nudes, which are harder to find because they make many people look corpse-like, and berry stains. Fresh Sugar Berry lives in my purse. And I recently discovered L’Oreal “Freida’s Nude”, which is so perfect I may need a backup!

Plums.

Even when I think I am finally picking a different colour in a store: pink, red, mauve, berry or nude…. As soon as I have a look at the name of the shade, I often find out I have reached for something called “plum”, again 🙂

MAC Hold the Pose. I bought 3 tubes when they were discontinuing. It’s a great color on me. Hope it comes out in LE so I can stock up again.

Yes, coral or a variation of coral (a pinky coral or peachy coral). Now that the weather is slightly warmer here in Toronto, i’ve been reaching for my Burberry Honeysuckle. Just the right amount of colour without being too bright.

Definitely pinky nudes! It might be boring, but as a pinky-nude lip enthusiast, I could (and do) wear this shade every day without being sick of it! That said, I do wish I could pull off a bolder lip color too….

MLBB shades are basically the only ones that look good on me. I mostly wear muted light-medium pinks and pinky beige. My lips are on the small side, so anything too bright or dark just look weird and make my lips look a lot smaller.

Georgia Avatar

MLBB nudes most days, but now that Spring is looming it’s bright corals and oranges, with an occasional red thrown in for nights out.

Pamela Pyles Avatar

In spring and summer it’s coral for me too, Christine! A lot of orange also. I get teased by co workers that I always wear “the same thing” but I look great in corals and oranges and they make me happy. It’s so annoying to hear that. What should wear? Something ugly on my skin tone–like candy pink?

I used to reach for reds, as I know they suit me best but they’re just too high maintenance–I don’t usually like to bother with lipliner. Now I choose pinks and purples (and shades in-between) most often, whether they be natural or bright. Current favorites: Bobbi Brown Lilac, BB Uber Pink, BB Desert Rose, Bobbi Brown Pink Mauve, Bobbi Brown Hot Tutu, Bobbi Brown Angel Pink lipgloss, Revlon Snow Peach, Shiseido RS320 (Fuchsia), MAC Private Party and MAC Snapdragon…..

I keep trying to find the perfect gold, and I buy a surprising amount of purples, but I WEAR Guerlain Bal de Mai the most often…it’s honestly close to a MLBB shade for me, though, so that makes sense. I think.

I get into phases. Lately it’s MLBB most days, sometimes a little more towards rose or fucshia to add some color to my face. I’ve been going with a nude/natural look lately, as I usually do when the weather starts warming up and the days getting longer.

It definitely depends on the season and my mood. I choose lipsticks depending on my mood, and I’ll become totally obsessed with a colour or colour family (usually just one lipstick though) for a week or two (or sometimes more) and then another colour for a while. This winter it was almost exclusively burgundy / dark red / deep berry – almost exclusively Rimmel Kate Moss No. 09, actually, which is a deep rosy berry.

This spring, it has to be pinks. I wear a pink almost every day, though I change it up sometimes with a muted orangy-coral or a wonderful peachy nude with a brown gloss on top.
