Butter London Branwen's Feather Nail Lacquer Review, Photos, Swatches
Butter London Branwen’s Feather Nail Lacquer
Butter London Branwen’s Feather Nail Lacquer
Butter London Branwen’s Feather Nail Lacquer ($14.00 for 0.4 fl. oz.) is described as a “purple-ish black with loads of depth and shine … like a silky raven’s feather at midnight by the Tower.” Â After reading the official description, I can see what they mean. Â It is a very blackened eggplant-y purple with flecks of plum and silver shimmer shot through. Â It dries slightly shiny, but I would still say you need a top coat to really make it gleam.
I used two coats and there was some underlying streakiness in areas that were more visible in natural light than I expected–I photographed with two coats.  I would recommend three coats for opaque, solid coverage.  The formula seemed thin, too, which I imagine contributed to the lack of opacity in two coats as well as the streaky second coat.  It doesn’t seem consistent with the rest of Butter London’s range (that I have tried, of course), so it was disappointing.  I typically get a week of wear with Butter London’s formula with a proper base and top coat.

I usually stay away from almost-black colors, but tis is really pretty! And I don’t mind polishes needing three coats. I usually do three coats anyway.
Such a shame because it’s so pretty!
Shame about the formula. It’s such a striking black-violet.
What a pity. Not only is it streaky, but 14.00 and .1fl oz less that Zoya and OPI? I can usually do 2 coats, even with dark colours on those brands and with Seche Vite top coat they last at least 5 days. A pass for me.
The color is so pretty!! so bad it’s not opaque!
Thanks for the review. 🙂
Thanks for posting these Butter London swatches! I love the brand! I just tried Macbeth and it is so pretty! It is totally what I was hoping Blowing Raspberries would be. Would be interested in your thoughts if you were looking for another Butter London polish to try out. 🙂
I’m wearing this right now 🙂 it’s my favorite black but its definitely the sheerest BL i’ve tried aswell. Still <3 this polish though.
I like this shade, but I always buy darker shades like this. Skip!
shame about the formula, the colour is gorgeous
Thanks for the review! Been eying this color for a while and now I’m glad I never bought it.
