Bright Makeup: Yellow, Pink, & Purple
Bright Makeup: Yellow, Pink, & Purple
I felt like playing around a bit last night, so I ended up with this at the end of playtime! Thought I’d share 🙂 I normally pair this kind of look with bright pink lips, but I thought I’d try something a little more orange, just for fun, so there are two lip combos in this look.
You will need the following…
- Eyes: MAC Soft Ochre Paint Pot (neutral beige base), MAC Golden Lemon Pigment (yellow gold), MAC Goldenrod Eyeshadow (golden yellow), MAC Bright Sunshine Eyeshadow (yellow), MAC Passionate Eyeshadow (dark pink), MAC Beauty Marked Eyeshadow (blackened burgundy), MAC Stars ‘n Rockets Eyeshadow (fuchsia-purple), MAC Femme-fi Eyeshadow (neutral highlighter), MAC Blackline Pearlglide Eyeliner (black with gold), MAC Blacktrack Fluidline (black), MAC Plushlash Mascara (black), MAC Opulash Mascara (black)
- Face: Make Up For Ever HD Foundation (140)
- Cheeks: Benefit Sugarbomb Blush (peachy-pink)
- Lips: MAC Morange Lipstick (orange), Chanel Venus Glossimer (sheer pink), NARS Schiap Lipstick (bright pink), Benefit Back to the Fuchsia Ultra Shine Lip Shine (sheer fuchsia)
- Brushes: 226 (fluffy crease brush), 219 (pointed crease brush), 249 (flat, firm brush), 239 (fluffy shadow brush), 116 (dense blush brush)
- Substitutes: N/A
For eyes, start by applying Soft Ochre paint pot as your eyeshadow base all over the eye area with the 249. With the 239 and water-based mixing medium (or water), apply Golden Lemon pigment all over the lid area. Using the 239, apply Goldenrod eyeshadow on the inner third of the eyelid. Next, apply Bright Sunshine eyeshadow on the middle third of the eyelid and lightly blend with the inner corner. Darken the outer third of the lid with Passionate eyeshadow with the 239, gently brushing it into the lower crease. With the 226, apply Beauty Marked eyeshadow into the outer crease, and then gently press Stars ‘n Rockets eyeshadow into the middle of the crease with the 239. Lightly tap and brush Bright Sunshine eyeshadow directly above the crease to soften. To finish the eyeshadow look, sweep Femme-fi eyeshadow as a highlighter on the brow bone. Bring everything together by applying Blacktrack fluidline on the upper lash line, Blackline eyeliner on the outer half of the lower lash line and Bright Sunshine eyeshadow lightly patted below the lower lash line with the 219 brush. Finish by sweeping lashes with Opulash and Plushlash mascara.
For cheeks, apply Sugarbomb blush to the apples of the cheeks and sweep upwards towards the temple with the 116.
For lips, apply Morange lipstick first, and then layer Venus glossimer for a complementing lip. or try Schiap lipstick layered with Back to the Fuchsia lip shine.
wow, great look,I think I love it more with the pink lipstick, than with the orange one:D
Thank you, Babicsek!
Pretty! Would you mind telling me why you layered the yellow pigment under the yellow shadows? Was it to increase the intensity? Thanks so much!!
Yes, a colored base can help increase the color intensity of your eyeshadows, but the highly frosty/metallic finish of the pigment can also accentuate eyeshadow’s look 🙂
Thank you Christine. I’ve used tons of colored bases but never a pigment. Going to try it out soon!
My pleasure, Lisa!
Wow! This screams summer! Makes me want to make some cocktails 🙂 I like the orange lips best! Bold looks are the best for you, I think 🙂 Do you wear them out often?
Psssst: you put the non-reviewed ones in italic! I can totally see what you were talking about. Brings down the uniformity a bit, no? Hmmm *ponders* Anyway, not that much of an issue so you can change it back if it bothers you 🙂
Thanks, Roxanne! 🙂
Yeah – I thought maybe the italics would be a subtle change without breaking up the flow, but not so great still, lol!
Pretty look but where is Black Line?
On the outer half of the lower lash line!
I see 🙂
Looks beautiful! Summery and fun 🙂
Looks perfect to me with the orange-y lips, just brightens and makes everything glow.
Thank you, LaDiDa 😀
What a splashy look for the summer! Sooo wishing the warmer weather would hit NYC. I absolutely love both lip looks on you – especially the pink. I don’t think I’ve seen you do a look or feature on Nars Schiap… love that it’s made an appearance on your blog! I’ve been secretly wanting it for so long, but don’t know if I can pull it off the way you can!
Thanks so much! 🙂
It’s going to be featured in the summer season 🙂
You do bright and colorful looks so well Christine!
I tried to pick my favorite of the lippies but they both look so great it’s really difficult. Hot pink matches with this look so well but orange lips truly brighten up your whole look and it’s something different so I might pick the orange one as my favorite. Both are gorgeous though!
Thank you so much, Heli 🙂
Love the look with both the lips!
Thank you, Kris!
gorgeous! I like the orange lips better though!
Thanks, Min!
I love the look and the two lip combos are fierce but … I feel like the black eyeliner has nothing to do in this look ! I think it would look even better without it, but that’s my personal preference
Btw, you wear the orange lip incredibly well, it looks stunning on you, even better than the pink combo !
Thanks for the suggestion, Margot!
Ooh that is very bright, and pretty! I love both lippies with the look. xx
Thanks a lot, Livia!
get it girl. Ferosh. I love it.
Thank you, Lisa!
Did you use a Chromagraphic pencil on your waterline here, too? This is *gorgeous* and the colors work so well together! I feel like there might be a bit too much Bright Sunshine up near the browbone but that’s just a personal preference. Using Goldenrod as well as Bright Sunshine was really clever.
I’ll never really be crazy about orange lips but they are nicely done here! I just prefer the hot pink, what can I say 🙂
Yes! 🙂
Thank you so much!
Wow, this is so gorgeous! Love it with both lip combos! 🙂
Thank you, Anita!
Wow that eyeliner is gorgeous! It really completes the look! I love the pink lippie most, you look really HOT!!!
Thanks, Angelique!
Woow, pretty! I must say I prefer the orangy lipcombo with the eyes, instead of the pink one, but I love the eyes. Will have to try something like that someday, I don’t know whether I’m brave enough yet 😛
Thanks a lot, Stephanie! 🙂 Do it!
So unique! I want goloden lemon pigment and beauty marked eyeshadow!
Thanks a lot, Allison!
I actually like the orange better! I love that lipstick!
Thanks, Emily!
I loooove morange!!!!!! thanks for another idea on how to wear it bc its awesome!!!!
It’s a great shade!
This is gawgeous!!!!! i like it with the orange lippie more tbh 😉
Thanks, Laura!
I like a colorful eye or lip but not both together. I think if a lip is bright an eye should be neutral and vice versa.
That’s always a good rule of thumb! I love going outside the rules from time to time, though 🙂 There’s just something about bright yellows and pinks that screams for a bright pink lip to me!
I dunno Marian, I love that Christine flouts this “rule.” I feel like if you’re wearing eye makeup that’s this loud already, you might as well go whole hog and enjoy all the brightness you can fit in. I’m honestly not going to wear an orange or hot pink lip most days if I’m wearing a neutral eye, because it doesn’t “match” to me and overpowers what I’m trying to do with my eyes. So I actually really like pairing bright with bright! 🙂 (My favorite is the rainbow eye for Boston Pride, which I pair with Lickable lipstick!)
ive noticed that you dont realy wing your liner? why?
Just lining my upper lash line causes my lash line to water and itch, which then causes product to get into my eye, and then causes burning. Afterward, my lash line and lid are a bit swollen — so I really try not to do much in that area.
weird question i know, just something iv noticed lolz. i was also wondering how you depot ur mac shadows, do use flat irons or propanol, or another method?
I use the oven 🙂
the oven that different, how do you do that?
I put 3-4 into the oven, and then I use a knife edge/tip to pop the pans out.
Have you tried using wet eyeshadow to line your upper lashline? I swear by this. A good brush used damp with a Chanel black eyeshadow and you can’t even tell it isn’t traditional eyeliner, and without the irritation.
Hey Kristina,
I think it’s just *anything* getting on it — I actually have super, sensitive eyeballs, LOL. Like I constantly have to use anti-itch eye drops, so just the feeling of the brush that close to the lash line seems to bother it a bit.
I’ve never worn anything like this, but its irresistible. doing a trial run tonight in my bathroom.
Oooh, hope you liked it, Kylie!
I love that you have shown the look with two different lip colours! It adds versatility to the look 🙂
Thank you, Kathryn!
Girl!!!!! I LOVE this look! It is so fly and bright! I will most definetely be giving this look a try. Great job 🙂
Thanks, Vanessa!
Wow, you don’t play around EVEN when you play around! 😀 That’s a fierce look. And for once I actually prefer the orange lip to the pink lip to go with it.
Thank you, Carolina!
Love it!! Will you be doing a review of MAC Opulash at any point?
Yes, I will review it once I’ve finished testing it, thanks!
What a fun way to use Morange!
You look great Christine! 🙂
I just might have to try a look like this soon 🙂
Thank you, Zoffe!
I like it more with the pink LS 🙂
Thanks, Lili!
I actually like the orange lipstick with that… It looks cool. Love the look too! The first thing I thought when I read it was, “Aww! Look at you coming up with an actual use for Beauty Marked!” Haha! 😉
No love for Beauty Marked?! LOL. It looks so pretty in the pan – it’s not nearly as gorgeous on, IMO.
i think it’s mac’s biggest eyeshadow letdown. EVERYONE looks at it in the pan and goes, “ooh! pretty!” and even when you tell them, “yeah, um… it doesn’t look like that when you put it on” they buy it anyway. i know this because i did the SAME THING! i had even used it before… and i hated it! but it was so pretty in the pan that i bought it. and i still hate it.
i make no sense… even to me.
LOL!
you used Opulash?? when is a review coming?
When I’ve finished doing my testing on it, I will be happy to review it! I expect it will be soon, but I’m in the middle of midterms and finals over here, so I can’t commit to a certain date. Sorry 🙁
schlap is sucha nice color.
wow looks gorgeous on the last pic when you are looking down! well done!
Thanks so much, Christy!
This look makes me so excited for Summer! I am sooo getting golden lemon pigment! Also because it was on your top MAC consumer pigments to try.
Awww 🙂
ugh! AMAZING! i’m in love with the eyes. i do like the pink lip better. that color is SO pretty, i think i need it.
Thanks, Lowie!
loving it with the pink lip
Thank ya!
AMAZING! 🙂 The look is so, “HELLO Summer”!!!
Thank you, Crystal!
Looks great, and both lip colors are gorgeous on you! Wish I could wear the bright lipsticks…
Thanks a lot! 😀

Aww, thank you so much, Rashmi!! 🙂
oooooooh. you look so cirque du soleil.
Thanks, I think!
christine! i really like this!
Thanks, Cat!
I am on the Orange lip train…I think it compliments the eye more because you can see more of the yellow, if there were a little more pink/purple the pink would go better. I personally could not pull of any of this look- yellow on the eyes? You are brave and amazing!
Thank you so much, Laurz! 🙂
So pretty! i love sunset type looks. You forgot to mention you used the chromagraphic pencil on your waterline (it looks like that at least)
Thanks, Missy!
Simply gorgeous, I love both!
Thanks, Lana!
🙂 this is cute, you remind me of Katy Perry in this look!
Thanks, Whitney!
This is one of the most gorgeous looks I’ve ever seen! I would wear this in a heartbeat, and not care if people stare. Beautiful!
Thanks, Megan!
Oh wow that looks so cool!!!
I’m going to give it a try now :D.
Thankies Christine!
Thanks, Coco!
