Best Liquid Lipstick Formula

What’s the Best Liquid Lipstick Formula that you’ve tried?

Share your pick!  And don’t forget to share why 🙂

OCC Lip Tars, Too Faced Melted Lipsticks, NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams, Giorgio Armani Maestros! I like liquid formulas that are more comfortable to wear vs. dry down but feel dry for most of the time you wear them!

Yes! They don’t get enough love as far as I’m concerned.

I bought all of these when they first came out in the UK last year – I couldn’t wait for them to come out here in Australia.

They last literally all day – and no dryness whatsoever.

I have been on a liquid lipstick kick this year, and have bought Lime Crime, Kat von D, Sephora, LA Splash etc – and none of them have lived up to Bourjois. I just wish they had a wider colour range – a lot of the colours are very similar.

The Sephora cream lip stain in 01, Always Red. It is velvety without being chalky, doesn’t bleed, and has very little transfer. I find with the drugstore long lasting lip colors, the ones that come with a clear gloss, that they are sticky and pill on my lips. The Sephora cream lip stain doesn’t do any of that nonsense. The only downside is that I wish they had more matte colors, and less of the strange glittery ones.

I love Kat Von D liquid lipsticks, Sephora lip stains and NYX soft matte lip creams. I recently got a Coloured Raine matte lip paint and I’m really liking it so far.

I was surprised, but my new LASplash lippies (Ghoulish, Charmed and Latte Confessions so far) are unbelievable. I have only lighter colors from this brand, but I am willing to believe the formulas vary. With that said, the LASplash staying power blows Stila, KVD, OCC and Too Face Melted out of the water! They are easy to apply, dry relatively quickly, and then they don’t go anywhere. Transfer proof and kiss proof. I have to literally scrub to get them off at the end of the day.

With that said, Melted has more pigmented and smooth color application than the KVD, though I tend to prefer the color choices of OCC and KVD much better even though OCC colors can be inconsistent from shade to shade. OCC is the hardest to apply, but you get the most bang for your buck in terms of product amount.

I have an old liquid lipstick by Chanel that I love, though its on the creamier end of the liquid spectrum. It was the first liquid lipstick I had ever tried and the concept blew my mind. I wish it was as easy to find lipsticks of that consistency as it is to find super matte ones.

I personally love Chanel Rouge Double Intensite Ultra Wear Lip Color. The color coat stains the lips and lasts for hours (most colors, not all) and the clear coat makes it comfortable.

I love a few different formulas for different reasons. The ones I like are:

Shiseido Lacquer Rouge (favourite shade is RS404 – Disco)
Too Faced Melted liquid lipstick (favourite shade is Melted Berry)
Ellis Faas Hot Lips liquid lipstick (favourite shade is Fluo Pink)
Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet (favourite shade is Pink Pong)

I’m not a liquid lipstick fan most of the time but I do really like the ones I mentioned. I do prefer the applicators on the Too Faced and Ellis Faas lipsticks. I also left out the Dior Fluid Sticks since I don’t know how best to categorise them! If I had included them my favourite shade is Wonderland. 🙂

I’ve only tried NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream and Bourjois Velvet Rouge Edition, but I like NYX more because Bourjois smell very metallic and I hate that. Also NYX Prague is one of my all time favorite shades!

NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams, Too Faced Melted Lipsticks and now Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks. All three formulas are rather comfortable for me and I like the shade ranges. I think the Soft Matte Lip Creams are my favorite of the 3. They’re like the perfect balance

I really like OCC Lip Tars, but they do take a little more time to apply correctly than I’m willing to deal with on a daily basis. I’m looking forward to trying out the NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams at some point.

Too Faced Melteds are my faves and I can get a very long wear out of them and a good 12 with a liner and primer. For a matte dry-down version, Kat Von D Everlasting lipstick are the best I have found that don’t completely dehydrate my lips for days.

I’ve only tried OCC Lip Tars and Too Faced Melted. I don’t but Lip Tar due to the peppermint oil, but it does wear nicely. I’m in love with Melted! They wear so gorgeously and come in such amazing colours. Fuchsia and Candy are both crazy bright and gorgeous, they go pretty much neon on my deep skin. They also wear super comfortably and nearly weightlessly – the first few times I wore the formula, I looked in the mirror so many times because I kept worrying, “omg I can’t feel anything! Is it really still there??” lol, I hope they keep expanding the line!

Cream/Satin Finish: Shiseido Lacquer Rouge and Too Faced Melted Lipstick.
Demi-Matte/Matte Finish: Guerlain Rouge G L’Extrait and Giorgio Armani Lip Maestro.

Honorable mention: The long discontinued Chanel Rouge Allure Laque and the limited edition M·A·C Kissable Lipcolour.

I didn’t try a lot of them because I don’t live in the US unfortunately, so my choice is limited. However I absolutely love the Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks. I have several shades and I find them really confortable to wear. The staying power is amazing and even though I have rather dry lips, it doesn’t really make them worse (unlike a lot of MAC matte lipsticks). Plus they are super easy to apply. They definitely converted to liquid lipsticks. I wish there were more options available for us in Europe.

I actually haven’t tried most of them. I like the Too Faced Melteds (the orginals) for being so pigmented, easy to apply, and comfortable to wear. I’m finding that Melted Metal Dream House is comfortable and long-wearing as well as beautiful if I apply a this layer of balm + lip and fill in my lips with a pencil first. I love the OCC lip tars for mixing colors, playing with and having fun. The peppermint oil in them is not comfortable for my lips, though, so I have to apply a balm (but not their primer, that has peppermint oil in ot, too) or something underneath, and that interferes with their wear time. Will have to try pencil without balm.
