Mineral Blush ($32.00)

Create your perfect cheeks with this effortlessly buildable formula. Infused with antioxidant vitamins for all skin types, even the most sensitive, it’s enriched with micro-fine minerals and antioxidant vitamins to achieve a natural-looking, flushed appearance. Wear it alone or layer it over BECCA’s Beach Tint for added luminosity. [Editor’s note: It appears that this is a relaunch and/or reformulation of Becca’s Mineral Blush formula. It is unclear whether Damselfly will return as well.]

I feel the need to fan myself. I am all full of hope and tingling desire, here.

But no Damselfly? I’ve gone back and forth on ordering that shade many times. I suppose if all consumers *almost* buy a product, it’s not enough to keep it going…

Christine Avatar

Really not sure on that – it seems like a redo/relaunch to me, but Damselfly shows as “out of stock” (and it was the only one available for the longest time) so it’s unclear whether it’s coming back or permanent out of stock. I’d ask Becca, but I don’t have a contact at the brand at this time.

Clare Avatar

If you’re fair, damselfly is the perfectly sunflushed/windburnt shade. Absolutely no sparkle, but gives you a glow. I LOVE it.

Ooh. I’m not a blush girl but Lantana, Hyacinth, and Nightingale are really catching my eyes. *adds yet another thing to my list *

Gorgeous colors but I’m really disappointed to see a blush called Gypsy on there. Insensitive term at best and even if you don’t consider it a slur, why would you name a blush (or clothing brand, or song if it wasn’t about being part of that ethnicity) after an ethnic group at all, ESPECIALLY one that is heavily discriminated against. Yeah, I know people mean sexy, flighty, free spirited citizen of the world–in other words an exoticized stereotype rather than an intentional reference to actual Romani people–but that doesn’t make it inoffensive either. Boooooo, Becca.

Plurabelle Avatar

I completely agree! The stereotype that they are invoking both trivialises and erases anti-Romani oppression. I’m glad to see someone calling them out; I rarely ever do.

I thought it was a reference to the moth…? Damselfly, songbird, etc. Every blush in the collection is named after nature.

Blue Avatar

I figured they meant it more to go with Flowerchild because I would say there are somewhat similar associations. Once you said it, the moth rang a bell as a phrase I’ve heard, but it’s not a common association for me at all. Still not a fan of the choice even if that was what they were aiming for given what a charged term it is and that there is literally a world of nature out there to draw names from, but I do see what you’re getting at about it feasibly being a coincidence.

Blue, the color Gypsy has been around a long time. I’m a gypsy.. I think if something can nag on our hearts and minds negatively, we need to change the meaning to something positive as Gypsy also relates to a moth with scant pink color and Becca is great. I highly doubt they mean to offend anyone or that makeup should be taken so seriously when there are real serious issues in this world much more worth examining and giving energy to, but I understand where you’re coming from. I’m sorry you feel as you do. 🙂

Clare Avatar

Oooo… they better bring Damselfly back! I love that shade!

For anyone dithering, these are myy HG blushes. I pretty much use nothing else but.

It’ll be really interesting to see how these babies swatch, and to see them in practice too! I’m pretty interested in seeing whether Sweetpea is more intense, like a bronzey shade with oomph. Also drooling over those last 3!

Sephora has the new shades hidden right now (along with so many other new products). They’re not on the “just arrived” makeup section. I just found ten things in fall shades that I want!
