Aubrey Elizabeth Apothecary Lemon Lip Scrub ($7.75 for 1 oz.) might just be my new go-to lip scrub. I’m really loving the smaller granules of sugar in this one, as well as the thicker base. It contains sucrose (brown sugar), shea butter, jojoba seed oil, lemon peel essential oil, and vitamin E. The jar says you can lick the remaining granules if you so desire…. you might want to, if you happen to love lemonade! It tastes like sweet, lemony goodness, though I prefer to wipe it away as it leaves more of the base behind and acts as a lightweight lip balm. You need a pea-size amount or less, then lightly work the sugar against the lip with a fingertip, and once finished, wipe away with a tissue. I ordered on October 30th, received it on November 4th, I believe–it was really, really quick to ship and actually arrive. It’s also available in Grapefruit, Blood Orange, Chocolate Orange, and Lime.
This is one of three lip scrubs I picked up from three different Etsy shops, and of the two I’ve tried so far, I’ve been wanting a lip scrub recently (all my previous ones were old enough to be recycled), and I caught myself about to buy one from Sephora, but I could hear my readers’ voices in my head–“just use sugar and oil!” Oh, so very true! Except I’m really not much of a DIY person and would rather have it ready to go. Instead, I turned to Etsy, which has plenty of bath and body shops and sure enough, I found a few lip scrubs to try. Perfect solution, because they’re not too expensive, come in fun flavors, and I get to support an indie business! 🙂

I need to limit myself to this website. I just checked Aubrey Elizabeth’s etsy page and after looking at the soaps I just HAVE to get oreo and donut soaps. Pink Lemonade chapstick sounds so tempting too! Temptalia strikes again lol.
The soaps look very fun! I don’t really use bar soaps myself, but how do you use them? As a shower/bath product or at the sink?
At least this time it’s an indie company (always fun to support someone’s dream!) and not too pricey 🙂
You caught me lol I personally I really don’t use bar soaps either.I prefer liquid soap but my better half prefers bar soap.I use that as an excuse to buy cute soap when I find some. I pop them on the sink for him or else he would never wash his hands (gross!). I tried using bar soaps in the shower but I just found it more complicated as opposed to shower gels.
They are honestly really well priced. Let’s just hope my boyfriend doesn’t mistake them for food and end up trying to eat them (happened to a candy cane shaped soap lol!)
That’s me, Ann! Shower gel is just way easier, and I feel like you waste more with bar soap!
I hardly ever used any bar soap (kind of bad, because I’ve been buying soap from Villainess since the beginning, then usually only using the scrubs), until I started using one of those scrubby cloth things. I like the lather I get using the bar soap. Plus, a lot of body washes have SLS, and if I’m not using hair product with that, why use skin care with it in it?
And I’m finally getting through my backlog of soaps!
So you rub the soap against the scrubby cloth and then go to town? Haven’t thought of that!
rubbing soap on a loofah also creates a lot of bubbles too! That’s how I use my lush ones a lot.
I like the loofahs that you can put the soap inside. They are the easiest.
I just LOVE that you went to Etsy for this!!! Thank you for doing that! I buy all of my body scrubs, chapsticks, and body butters from an Etsy store, Aquablossom. The shop owner is completely fabulous and makes such a great variety of products. I like that they are small/indie businesses, and the customer service is great, and the products are usually more natural. I look forward to the other reviews from the indie shops! 🙂

Oooooh, this looks nice and I like supporting independent sellers. And I agree with you about DIY, lol. This is one of those times when yeah, I know I could do it myself but it’s worth it to me to pay $7/8 (instead of $1 or whatever the value-per-oz of sugar and olive/coconut oil would be) to not have to make a small mess, lol.

What is the shelf life?

I’ve been using mine for a little over a year (just getting near the end of the jar) and it still is fine for me personally. 🙂
Hi Beck! The shelf life is about a year. If you make sure to always use it with clean fingertips it will last a very long time =)
That is a great price and it sounds good! I use the one by Fresh and have not made a dent in it yet, but this I might want to try later on!
Those lip scrubs last a long time – kind of wish jars were smaller (generally)!

It’s funny, because (generally) I’d rather try an indie brand if I want something more affordable than some of the major brands at drugstores – higher success rate with indies 🙂
