Best Teal Eyeshadows: MAC Teal Eyeshadows

4 Must-Have MAC Teal Eyeshadows

About the Temptalia Must-Haves Series

A series of posts showcasing must-have products from MAC Cosmetics’ permanent line of products. Selections are based on quality, universality, uniqueness amongst the line, and the like. Limited edition shades are deliberately excluded to make buying easier. Readers’ comments act as a supplement to these lists of their favorites and must-haves. You can find the entire series here.

Shimmermoss eyeshadow is my absolute favorite teal eyeshadow. It’s vibrant, pigmented, and it goes on effortlessly. It blends easily with other shades (especially golds and blues), and I’ve used it so much and yet it doesn’t even have much of a dip in it–that’s how rich in color it is.

Steamy eyeshadow is kind of a dirty green-teal color. I find it to be in the teal family, but it definitely has green undertones to it. I like it for its duality.

Newly Minted eyeshadow is a matte finish semi-dusky teal. It’s quite “minty” in a way. While my all-time favorite Melody eyeshadow (long discontinued) holds my heart in this type of teal, Newly Minted is a very close runner-up.

Aquadisiac eyeshadow is a light, glittery aqua-teal shade. It’s one of the lightest teal colors MAC has come out with, and it is definitely a must if you like to wear teals or blues.

What are your favorite teal eyeshadows?

I LOVE this series you have going on….describing the must haves and how to pair them up!! SOOO helpful it really encourages me to dive into eyeshadows which have been neglected to try new ways I never thought of. Thank you!

I agree with other readers – your ‘must have’ series is great! I really enjoy reading these articles! Aquadisiac is one of my favourite eyeshadows. It’s really pigmented and a little goes a long way. It goes so well with other eyeshadows. I love wearing it on the lid with either Freshwater in the crease or Newly Minted in the crease.

Yeah, I have times when I use some shadows a lot and then I start using other ones more regularly. It’s nice sometimes when I feel like using something different, go through my eyeshadows and think ‘I haven’t used that one for ages’ – it’s like discovering a new eyeshadow all over again, lol :o) !

Shimmermoss is one of favorite shadows period. I love to wear it alone along my lower lash line. This weekend I went for a “peacock” inspired look using a white creme shadow, Shimmermoss, Nocturnelle, and a black shadow in the crease…..fierceness occurred LoL.

I like Teal pigment as liner but my favorite MAC teal is Pompous Blue. It’s more on the blue side but it’s so rich and pigmented and can be worn in so many ways. I think I need to get Shimmermoss now!

Cool Heat, Parrot, Gulf Stream, Warm Chill, Too Dolly, Big T, Turqatic (or something like that), Shimmermoss, Steamy, Aquadisiac, uhm lol Waternymph! Aquavert! Surreal, too.

Goodness lol

I have more teals, but I can’t think of them.

Off topic, but Christine, heard your site won the Glam Network Award for Beauty. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!! So unbelievably well-deserved.

Jessie Avatar

Warm Chill/Parrott/Big T Make a good combo with Vanilla as a highlighter

I have Haunting from the Alexander McQueen line, too. I love it in the inner corner with Warm Chill and Cool heat.

Christine, I love these posts but I’m shopping more now, LOL! There have been shadows on my list forever but because of LE releases I put off buying them. Finally I have Brule, Humid, Contrast, Parfait Amour, Creme de Violet. I bought Texture too, finally since it looks so good on you, and I love Velvet finish e/s. Keep these posts coming. I love them. Now immediately on my must haves is Shimmermoss, Freshwater, Trax, and Satin Taupe. Darn MAC addiction! I hope you really did win the Glam Network Award for Beauty! Your site is the BEST!!!!

Since you started these posts I’ve been a couple of times to my MAC store to buy all of your must-haves !!! GOD this list just kills me even more :p

BTW weirdly enough, shimmermoss doesn’t go on very pigmented on my eyes … dunno why !!

I just love steamy, and surreal and aquadisiac, they are so pretty !!!

I really love Waternymph for summer.

However.. I want to recommend

LORAC Green Room. Sephora has it. It is uber pigmented and it is beyond gorgeous. I don’t think Mac has one that is the same color.

This one should be on the must have list. It’s a deep sexy teal. HOT

Kim Avatar

I love newly minted but it didn’t work for me, can you recommend some combinations? I get no pay off even with a base like a painpot (delft) or with UDPP.

Jessie Avatar

Try it with Greenstroke pp (Smokey teal) or if you have the LE Rollickin’ or Otherworldly pp.

You could try a neutral PP, like Painterly or Bare Study.

Naked Pigment might work, too.

I don’t have Newly Minted, I keep passing it and SHOULD get it lol And Nehru. But You could pair it with browns to give a neutral look pop of color. Tempting and Honey Lust look good with Teals. Teals bring the green out in Club too.

I’m thinking about getting Shimmermoss. It looks so pretty from the swatches I have seen. I’m just wondering how similar it is to Urban Decay’s eyeshadow in Shattered?

Jessie Avatar

I have UD Shattered in both the shadow and the pigment. It’s not the same color. Shattered is a deeper teal color (to me) and more bluish teal than greenish teal (if that makes sense). Shimmermoss is a more greeny teal. I love it cause it’s so versitile.

Jessie Avatar

Anytime! I love helping! I really have become addicted lol my boyfriend loves it, cause he gets to give imput (most guys get scared)and I really have more than I should. I like helping since I can’t seem to get pictures to work of my combos lol

I did get a new digital camera, so maybe it will!

Speaking of teals.. got waternymph on ebay for 10 bucks! Score for me. Got Thunder and Turqatic, too. :]

abby Avatar

Aquadisiac, gulf stream and talent pool for me. Newly minted looks so pretty maybe that would be my next by along with plumage if those two look good together 😀

Courtney Avatar

I love shimmermoss..but i really neglect it! it’s such a pretty color. cool heat isn’t a bad color either. too bad i missed out on parrot eyeshadow
