Blast From the Past: My First Smokey Eye!
This was my FIRST smokey eye ever! It’s from December 2005, and looking at the photos makes me kind of itch to re-try it, actually! I think this was actually the first look I ever did a tutorial for, too. What was your first smokey eye like?
Used: Silver pigment on lid, Black Tied e/s on outer corner and crease, Say Yeah! e/s from crease to brow..
See two more close-ups…
I think my first smokey eye look was fairly similar to yours in terms of shades (silvers and greys). I used Urban Decay Strip eyeshadow (a shimmery medium silver colour, I think Mac Silver Ring is a good dupe), matte black eyeshadow in the outer corner and crease and Urban Decay Polyester Bride eyeshadow (shimmery white) lightly in the inner corner and to highlight the browbone. I still love doing silvery-black smokey eyes but I love using other shades for smokey eyes, like smokey greens, blues and purples.
Sounds like you had a very gorgeous smoky eye goin’ on over there, Saira 🙂 I love to switch mine up with colors, too!
This is awesome Christine!
Thanks, Shefali!
My first smokey eye was a whole lot of Mac Paint, don’t remember the name of the color but it was the black one! I just swiped that one and I thought I was good to go…my that was a long time ago.
Your first smokey eye is sooo pretty. I’ve tried to re-create it and it is fairly easy. It’s my default look for a night at the club.
lol, Graphito paint? 🙂
Thank you!
Wow! Even ‘back then’ you did gorgeous looks! Natural talent I guess, ey? 🙂 x
Aww, thank you!
That looks great christine I think smokey eyes are a bit intimidating at first I love them everyone should give it a try
Thanks, Amy!
My first smokey eye? I came out looking like a deranged panda.
a deranged panda OMG that is sooo funny and pretty much what I am guessing my smokedy eye looked like as well 🙂 hehehehe thanks for the laugh…deranged panda…hehehe gosh that made me laugh hard
LOL. Ditto, so did I… I wasn’t terribly skilled back then and I came out a hot mess. Or in your words, a deranged panda 😉
LOL!! Aww!
My first “smokey eye” was no where near that gorgeous.
Aww! Thanks, Sarah 😛
Wow!!! defitnley do this look over.. i love it..
Thanks, Wandena!
My first smokey eye was done by accident, actually. I was messing around with Silver Ring and Remotely Grey shadows, and I applied SR from lashline to just above the crease after dabbling RG all over the lid. It turned out to be a really gorgeous smokey gray eye – my first INTENTIONAL smokey was with Electra, Silver Ring, Carbon, and Shroom e/s with smokey black pencil (overlayed with Carbon) on the upper and lower lashlines. I made the outer eyeliner thick, black and smoked with Electra on the inner eye – turned out to be a WAY too OTT, but I’ve learned from my mistakes that less is more. 🙂
How funny! I love how you can remember BOTH 🙂
two black rings around my eyes courtesy of rimmel. so nothing this sophisticated!
hahahaha!
sorry but your description was really funny.
LOL! Thank goodness for practice, right, Rowan?
My first smokey eye was not nearly as nice as yours 🙂
I used a bright silver in the inner and middle lid, a darker silver/grey in the outer lid and in the crease. I used a white/gold on the browbone. Lined upper and lower lashlines with black liner. All of my eyeshadows were by Faces Cosmetics
It actually wasn’t that long ago and I took lots of pics since it actually turned out really simple and pretty.
Aww, thank you, Andrea! I am sure yours was just as nice 🙂 I like the idea of using a bright silver!
When I was younger I attemmpted a black and blue smokey eye, but I ended up with fall outs on my lower lid, and it smudged everywhere! haha 😀
Awww! I think I’ve only done black and blue once!
Im still scared to do a full out smokey eye for the fear of looking like a “deranged panda” (as per above^), LOL! Ive done smokey creases but not a full smokey eye yet. I REALLY want to, all the time! lol. This one is great Christine! I’d love to see your 2009 version! 😀
Aww! You definitely should give it a try! You can always take it off if it doesn’t work out 🙂
Thanks!
Well, my first smokey eye was actually couple of years ago and it was this one! I used your tutorial and simular colors that I had. It did not looked as hot as yours the Original one:) But I got a lot of compliments on it too. So thanks for your site!!!
You don’t know how flattered I am 🙂 Aww! Thank you!
Sure looks like a pro 🙂
Thanks, Teeyah!
All of my smokey eyes turned out terribly in the past, and for a long time I thought that I was too fair to pull it off. I found a really pretty Hard Candy quad that I loved and was poking around on the internet for a tutorial…and this is the exact one that popped up! This is what led me to your blog and I have been following since. Thanks Temptalia!
Ohh, I think I know what Hard Candy quad you’re talking about 🙂
Thanks, Carissa!
