Face First: Complete Cleansing - Renee Rouleau - AHA/BHA Cleansing Gel Review
Our first cleanser on the chopping block is Renee Rouleau’s AHA/BHA Cleansing Gel, which was actually the winner of Allure’s Best of Beauty 2007 “Editor’s Choice” award. I was skeptical about a cleanser with jojoba beads really working as a makeup remover, but it’s actually quite efficient in doing that task.
The AHA/BHA Cleansing Gel is a soap-free, sulfate-free, non-drying gel that uses AHAs, BHAs and gentle Jojoba beads to smooth the skin and fade post-breakout marks while clearing clogged pores. The AHA/ BHA Cleansing Gel is great for polishing tired-looking skin and combating clogged pores. Recommended for oily or acne prone skin types.
Ingredients:
- Salicylic Acid – an antiseptic and exfoliator
- Grapefruit Oil – contains Vitamin C, antioxidants, and is an astringent
- Jojoba Beads – gentle skin polisher

In fact, I love the way the jojoba beads gently work into my skin, and after I wash them away, I feel clean and refreshed, but without the feeling of tight skin (not my cup of tea in a cleanser). The Cleansing Gel is soap-free, sulfate-free, and all of the good ingredients help to smooth skin, fade post-breakout marks, and clear clogged pores. My skin felt incredibly smooth, “like a baby’s bottom,” and the first few times I used it, I couldn’t keep from touching my face and remark on how silky it felt.
This cleanser is definitely a worthwhile investment, and you do get a fair amount for $28.50 – I expect it to last at least a month, if not two, with daily to twice-daily use. You really don’t need to use much to cover your entire face, which is why this product won’t run out in a matter of a week or two! Overall, I love the AHA/BHA Cleansing Gel, and it just might replace my precious Cetaphil in the evening!
