Temptalia Asks You - What do you do if a look you try doesn't seem to work?

What do you do if a look you try doesn’t seem to work? Wear it anyway? Start over?

.

I give myself two chances to do eye makeup, whether or not I’m re-doing it or trying something else after a failed attempt at one look! If I don’t succeed on attempt #2, then I say forget it! 🙂

Usually if i fidget enough, i can get it to work. Mostly i only wear makeup when i HAVE to for an occassion, so skipping it isn’t an option. If its turning out REALLY badly, I sometimes end up applying really a really BRIGHT pink/purple look i can do easily, because i know it will cover it up, adn if i try to wipe off the old makeup, it still stains my skin and shows through new looks. I do most of my experimentation on off days, and then write down combinations that I like, so i know what i’m doing before I start.

Depending on the look, I’ll either wipe it off and start again or will add some liquid liner or a different crease color to see if I can salvage it. Also, adding a bit of one of my HG eyeshadows, MAC’s Vanilla (shadow, not pigment) to the inner corner makes a big difference. There are a lot of things I do, but those are the main ones. 🙂

I never have time to start over, so just try to make the best of it and wear it anyway. 🙂 If it’s too dark, try to apply some light, shimmery shade over it, or wipe some off and try with a lighter colour.

I’ll try and fix the problems if I can, and most of the time they can be fixed… but there were a few times where that didn’t happen and so I took everything off and popped on my safe & sturdy combo: paint pot + black eyeliner + mascara. And the time I have left will determine whether I am bothered to do something with my lips/cheeks 🙂

I don’t usually have time to start over, so if I think it’s too dark, I’ll apply something white and shimmery to tone it down, like MAC Quick Frost. If it’s too light, I’ll try a darker shade in the crease.

i have very small eyelids…and small space between crease n brow bone..no i don’t look like ‘alien’..:)
I hve learnt that looks using 5-6 colors just dont work on me…so i kinda try giving it my own version…if that doesn’t works….i forget it!!!

I normally leave it on, as I don’t always feel like starting again and instead try different things to make it work. I sometimes try to blend it a bit more with the existing colours to make it more wearable or I also perhaps add in different colours if I think blending other colours in will help make the look work. I know I can remove it at the end of the day anyway, so it’s not so bad :o) .

oh oh.. I pull out the Carbon and my deep matte grey ESs.. and wham, I do the mother of all Black/Grey smoky eye! It works as Black is the end product of all color:)

If it’s just awful and muddied up from too much blending, i’ll scrap it and do my trusty paint pot and black eyeliner + mascara look, cause that’s usually all I’ll have time for! Otherwise I’ll try and fix it.

If its during the week when I have classes I’ll remove it and just wear mascara to open my eyes. If its during the weekend (where there should be ample time) I’ll play around with the look, remove it then start over.

i work with it no matter what, too lazy to start all over. i’ll just add or blend away eye shadow until it looks okay. or i just smear some black eyeliner and smudge like crazy = smokey eye 😀

I just keep trying to make it work. I have yet to come up with a look that I have to wipe off and start all over again. Maybe I don’t get too adventurous, but I also do try coordinating colors on my hand first before I try it out.
