- What was your favorite childhood toy?: A puppy stuffed animal – my sister and I both received one right before we moved from Massachusetts to California in ’92. I still have it, and it’s on my bookshelf with several other stuffed animals that I couldn’t put in storage (I used to collect Disney stuffed animals…).

Haul: Nothing! I’m good this week for a change haha. Too much stuff in the “to photograph/review” pile.
Weekend plans: Hopefully the weather will be good enough for a walk or two! I feel so beaten up this week (spring and autumn always get to me) I could use some chilling out 🙂
What was your favorite childhood toy?: Hmm I can’t really remember anything. Might have been a stuffed polar bear my aunt gave me. My mom never ever let me leave the house with a toy, so I had a very detached relationship with all of mine. I was told not to tell my boyfriend about this LOL
I can’t remember taking my toys with me out of the house! I remember when my mom went into labor with my younger sister, I do remember making my Dad carry a giant Mickey Mouse stuffed animal across the street to the neighbor’s (where I was staying until my mom gave birth).
Aww that’s a sweet memory 🙂 My mom always said I’d lose the toy and she’d never hear the end of it, so no. Sometimes I see flyers printed by parents looking for their kids’ beloved stuffed animals that are left behind during a shopping trip. It feels like I didn’t miss out haha
My daughter left her “blanky” on one end of the mall, and luckily we found it. About 6 months later, she lost it again, this time forever. I swear I saw the moment when her heart broke… She has autism, so we were really worried how she’d react, but she bounced back fairly well. She still talks about “her”, though, but we told her “Binky” went on to be a friend to another child, who needed her more, since she’s a big girl, now. Surprisingly, it worked; it’s been since the end of last August, and she sleeps fine without it.
My mom told me my blanket went to blanket heaven (I didn’t lose it, but it had gotten tattered). Bought that for a long time, LOL!

Haul: two items from Dior’s Bird of Paradise collection, Nude Tan in “Pink Glow” and the “Blue Lagoon” palette; Zoya Pixie Dust “Liberty”, “Miranda”, “Dahlia”; Color Club “Over the Moon”; Dior “Rouge Noir” polish.
Weekend plans: spending quality time with my husband (the past couple of weeks have been incredibly chaotic work wise and we hardly had quality time together); going to see “Oblivion”.
What was your favorite childhood toy? I don’t know if I had one, quite frankly… I spent most of my childhood playing outside with other kids, climbing trees and playing all kinds of games so I don’t remember having any favorite toy…

awww love his haul, does he have balls and sticks too? Mine like playing with a ball I give him it has a small bell on it, and he likes stick to chew on it.
He doesn’t have any balls that are out for him to play with, though we have some to throw for him! He does have Nylabones to chew on, which he loves!
the ball he has is from the pet store, he loves it, he has also nylabones left, Dunno where he put them , he hide everything.
I was on a trip, so I managed to track down a couple of brands I never get to buy in Montreal- hauled a couple of eye shadows from Burberry and two eye shadows and a lip chic from Chantecaille. I also picked up the Dim Light Ambient Lighting Powder from Hourglass (my third shade). A great week for hauling.
My weekend plans involve resting and recuperating, since I managed to contract bronchitis while I was away. I also have to do all the laundry in the entire world. It’s going to be a real party weekend.
As far as my favourite childhood toy, I had a lot of stuffed toys that I loved very much, I think I’d feel badly if I said one was my favourite.

Favorite childhood toy: A purple stuffed bear that I was given when I was born. The family friend who gave it to me died of pancreatic cancer a few years ago so it is even more special to me now.

Someone must like Hakuhodo brushes 🙂 Are you on a mission to catch ’em all?
If I keep buying at this rate I’ll probably have them all eventually lol. They have I crazy amount of brushes, though. The plan is to get everything from the S100 and Kokutan series, but most of those are really expensive, especially the face brushes! Hakuhodo definitely make some of the best brushes out there and put most of my MAC brushes to shame.
Thanks for the input! 🙂 What are your favorites? If someone were to get say, 10 brushes, what would you recommend?
I’m not at home right now (back on Monday) and can’t remember the names/numbers of the brushes.
The amount and large variety of brushes means that there are holy grail brushes in the line for everyone, but there could be hits and misses because of different needs and expectations (perfect eyeshadow brushes for someone with small deep set eyes would be different than for large mono lids). Also it’s important to pay attention to the bristles. For instance, if you want intense application you won’t be happy with blue squirrel hair which applies product very softly. This makes it hard to recommend brushes (I’m the kind of person who wants everyone to be 100% satisfied with all their purchases lol).
My favorite blush brush is the S110. It has a standard shape and applies blush in s very natural way, a bit more softly than your typical blush brush.
Kokutan Finishing Brush L is great for finishing powder and brushing away excess product.
Kokutan Eyeshadow Brush T might be my favorite brush ever. Densely packed blue squirrel hair, round shape (no point!), medium sized.
G527 Powder Brush D is used every day to blend contour, blush and highlight.
Unfortunately I can’t remember the names of the more standard eye brushes, but they have a perfect “smaller sized 239” that is amazing for small lids and outer corner work.
I can recommend their duo fiber brushes and stippling brushes. They also have a great (and better) 131 dupe.
The J-series is a great place to start. The brushes have synthetic fibers so they work well for both powders and cream. They are also very affordable compared to the S100 (vermilion paint and 24k gold/brass ferrule) and Kokutan (ebony wood handles) series.
Lastly I have to apologize for any spelling errors or general weirdness. I’m typing on my cell phone and can’t be bothered reading everything back.

What was your favorite childhood toy?: When I was young a crochet rabbit my grandma made I called Floppy (because of it long formless ears) and a large nylon fabric pink bunny I called Pinky. Love them to death.

i love that they give you a mini option because even the minis are a ton of product and they are a great option for A trying a color or B picking up a color you love but probably wont reach for every day.

I went to an industry store called Naimes. They were out of just about every color as refills…which is a bummer because they are only $10.00 each there. I am filling a Z palette. I ended up going to a MAC store and was able to get 10 that were on my list. I got Amber Lights, Coppering, Kid, Red Brick, Rule, Samoa Silk, Swiss Chocolate, Saddle, Soft Brown and Expensive Pink. I love warm browns. They were out of brown script, cork and foile.

Weekend Plans: Lunch with my father tomorrow!
Favorite Childhood Toy: A heavy-feeling brown bear with short, curly hair. His name is Boris! He’s been to a lot of places with me as the companion to my random moves.
I think Sephora’s samplers are great deals!
Haul: Nothing; I’m planning a trip to Disneyland the first weekend of May, so I’m trying to save a bit of money. Also, I’m trying to hold out for the Kat von D Ladybird palette, which is due in stores in May; hopefully it’ll be at Sephora @ Downtown Disney that same weekend. I’m over buying actual souvenirs at Disneyland, so I always make a side-trip to Sephora, LOL.
Plans: The usual stuff… I’ve also got plans to take in some recycling. A few of weeks ago, my daughter asked about recycling, and why we didn’t do it (we usually separate it and leave it on the curb), because she noticed the kiosk behind the grocery store. She asked if we can do it, and figuring we’d get a dollar or two, I obliged, as we didn’t have all that much. To my surprise, we got just under $10, so I’ve decided I’m going to make this a regular thing, and this will go toward my beauty budget, LOL. Plus, the recycling kiosk also takes *any* plastic, including shampoo & body wash bottles, so that should bring in a bit!
Favorite toy: My Barbie perfume maker; it had 4 scents that were in a solid form, and you stuck them into another vial filled with water, and you could mix & match scents. The 3 I remember were rose, gardenia, & jasmine, but I can’t remember the 4th… It didn’t smell all that great, but it was a really fun toy. I also loved my Barbie & Tinkerbell makeup!

It’s a HUGE store, at least compared to the ones I go to regularly. Unfortunately, last year they just had a huge sale for Disneyland employees, so everything I’d planned to pick up was sold out. However, I was at least able to swatch alot of things for future purposes, LOL.
I don’t think I ever went inside when i was in Disneyland, but next time I am there, I will have to check it out 🙂

What was your favorite childhood toy?:
A box of crayons. I must have supported Crayola all throughout the 80s and early 90s. There were never enough colors. It might explain my nail polish/makeup obsession now. I want all of the colors!
Have you ever been to a UFC fight at the San Jose arena? We’ve thought about going, but not sure how the crowds are! But I know we’ll watch at home at least.
I was the same way with crayons, LOL. We only had the 64 box back then, but when my daughter got to be old enough, I started buying her the bigger boxes. She’s almost 7, and her latest obsession is nail polish. We can’t go into a store that carries Sinful Colors, because she wants them *all*! She has over 80, and she actually remembers which ones she doesn’t have. My kryptonite is eyeshadow…

Fave childhood toy: This Fisher Price Little People house that splits open and has a working doorbell in the front. I’ve seen this toy listed on etsy and ebay for $$$$$$$. I should have saved mine!

Haul: Bobbi Brown creamy concealer kit and corrector, a couple items from Stila (they had a flash sale for 50% off), a couple more Sonia Kashuk luxe sheer colors, a few Avon lipsticks, and a CC cream from Korea. I managed to spend little amounts in a few places 🙂
Weekend plans: I have a baby shower to attend tomorrow if I’m up to it (I’m getting a cold and don’t want to expose the mother-to-be to it) and Sunday I’m working, but beyond that I don’t have any.
Fave toy: I had a teddy bear from the time I was two until about fifteen, her name was Jill Bear and I slept with her every night, took her places, etc. When I was fifteen Jill Bear (who was pretty worn down by then) was retired and I got Pierre the Gay Bear, who I’ve slept with until, um, recently (he’s been relocated to my office daybed).
I hope you can kick the cold to the curb!

WEELEND: On Saturday, going out for lunch with my hubby and baking cupcakes with my mom in the evening. On Sunday, going to the mall for a bit then making dinner at home.
TOY: I loved Strawberry Shortcake, little mermaid dolls called Sandy Sea-Wee, and My Little Pony (I had a lavender one called Blossom). Can you tell I’m a child of the 80s?

Weekend plans: Rest. I’ve worked so much this week (entrance exams). I still hae a few left, so I’ll be working a bit to!
What was your favorite childhood toy?: a little greyish stuffed cat I’ve had since birth. I’m still very fond of it!

Haul: Hourglass eye shadow duo in Dune – talk about BLISS!!!
Weekend plans: blissfully very little compared with the last few weeks and the weeks ahead. Celebrating my younger son’s birthday (he’s no longer a teenager); going to the gym and yoga, trying out a few new recipes and narrowing 2 pairs of pants.
Favourite childhood toy: more than Barbies or anything else, it had to be a skipping rope. I loved skipping and remember learning how to do double-dutch and feeling so proud. I was talking about this just the other day with some contemporaries – our memories of skipping songs and how great and social and fun skipping was.
Dune is such a lovely duo! 🙂

Favorite childhood toy: a white bear wearing a blue, satin yarmulka. No idea why someone gave me a Jewish teddy bear but I loved him to death. Named him Berry 😛 I remember the stitching holding the yarmulke on would always pop off on one side and I would always come crying to my mom, begging her to fix it for me. LOL!

fave toy-I didn’t have a huge amount of toys as a child, so nothing really comes to mind. I know that when I was about 5 or 6 I became fascinated with velvet dresses and dangly earrings.

Haul: I got a BUNCH of stuff this week from Maybelline, Shu Uemera, Armani, Ellis Faas and Liouse Young… and I received it all very graciously 😉 So that took care of my shopping fix!
Weekend plans: Getting caught up on blogging, packing up Face Chart orders that were placed today and gym, gym, gym (took two days off this week so I intend to make up for it!

i bought guerlain gigolo.
finally, it’d been on my list for a loooooong time. at this price range, i prefer tom ford; i find them balmy, guerlain has pretty good consistency too. somehow my gigolo isn’t as glossy as i have swatched previously and seen pictures of. to me it’s a better version of mac rebel, the color of rebel doesn’t go on evenly, this does.
i m pretty sure i will not be buying anything by guerlain in the future. this color was hard to dupe so i bought it. 🙂

He-Man! I brought those action figures with me everywhere. I even had a Castle Greyskull tent that I spent hours in everyday playing. Family members were concerned that a girl was playing with those “boy” toys. I loved those toys. I still have them and take them out once in a while and remember all the fun I had with them.
Maple Town, which are exactly like Calico Critters (now). I loved those velvety animals.

Mellan is so cute! I wish my dog’s biggest problem with stuffed chew toys was a squeaker not working. Within about ten minutes they’re destroyed and there’s fuzz everywhere.
LOL! Mellan, for some reason, doesn’t destroy his toys deliberately!
Haul: I spent lots of money on my trip to London. I bought some Liz Earle skincare products, Nars makeup, Real Techniques Brushes and makeup and brushes by No 7.
Weekend plans: Sleep a lot, watch youtube clips, reorganisation from my London trip and continue reading.
What was your favorite childhood toy?: A crocodile stuffed animal, which I have had since I was 9 month old. A smaller version of that also travells with me.
