Look - All Matte & Neutral

I wore this look yesterday to have lunch with my mom and sister 🙂 My mom seemed to really love this look on me — she said everything just complemented each other. She rarely comments on my makeup, so maybe there’s something to what she said, ha!

Happy Friday! I hope you all have some fun weekend plans coming up!

You will need the following…

  • Eyes: Soft Ochre paint pot (matte, neutral base), Blanc Type eyeshadow (matte beige-white), Showstopper eyeshadow (matte, cool dark brown), Spiced Chocolate eyeshadow (matte reddish-brown), Bisque eyeshadow (matte highlighter), Urban Decay Underground 24/7 Liner (dark dark brown), Plushlash mascara (black)
  • Cheeks: Refined mineralize skinfinish (peach-nude)
  • Lips: Touch lipstick (creamy brown-taupe), Lychee Luxe lipglass (coral)
  • Brushes: 266 (firm, angled brush), 226 (fluffy crease brush), 214 (smudge brush), 249 (flat, firm brush), 239 (fluffy shadow brush), 129 (dense blush brush)
  • Substitutes: Showstopper = Ground Brown; Spiced Chocolate = Embark, Refined = Soft & Gentle

Directions: Define brows using a coordinating powder shadow applied with the 266 brush. Apply Soft Ochre paint pot all over the lid as the base. Apply Blanc Type eyeshadow all over the lower lid using the 239. Apply Showstopper eyeshadow to the middle-to-outer crease with the 226. Overlay the crease with Spiced Chocolate eyeshadow using the 226. Sweep Bisque eyeshadow underneath the brow bone to highlight. Finish with Urban Decay Underground 24/7 Liner on lower lash line, and Plushlash mascara on lashes. Sweep apples of cheeks with Refined mineralize skinfinish using the 129. Apply Touch lipstick to lips, and then top with Lychee Luxe lipglass for color and shine.

I really love this look! I think matte shadows look amazing on you. I think i’m going to try this look for the party i’m going to on Saturday. 🙂 Thanks Christine!

Ohh, pertty. JUST the right amount of deepening the crease for a neutral look, too. I always find it’s very difficult to get the right balance between not enough deepening vs. looking too smokey.

You should be getting kickbacks from MAC! Just for fun, everytime that you post a new look, I’ve started going on to look at the MAC website. It’s funny because every time, at least one of the colors that you use ends up selling out. Right now blanc type and ground brown are sold out 😉

You look great Christine..I am a major fan of mattes personally.. so I have a lot of these colors. I just think matte eyes for the day are so discreet and sexy and don’t overpower the person.. but that’s just me.

I agree with your Mom. I love my dark dramatic eye looks that I wear, but for the past week I have been using more neutrals and mattes. I am loving that look right now. It always looks great when you have a tan too! Of course, a healthy tan. Oh, how I want to avoid the tanning bed this summer. Looks beautiful!

This look is so HOT! i am so jealous of your crease :(( My son has a very defined crease, I am so tempted to put makeup on him:)) I know I’m bad…I was hoping to get the 226 but i ended up getting the 224 coz the 226 is not yet available here (Saudi). I love how it makes my small crease look a lot more defined but the bristles seem to be hard, compared to my other MAC brushes. Is that normal? It’s my first crease brush so I can’t compare it properly. And some bristles seem to be lost in space you know, they are pointing in weird directions! I’m planning to try the Clinique crease brush i saw in their website, i hope it’s available here.

Hey Ice!

LOL, my boyfriend has ridiculously long lashes – I want to steal them!

I don’t have the 224 (just the 226), but it shouldn’t really be hard – it should be pretty soft to the touch, but the bristles may be more “pointy” in a way, so maybe that’s why it feels different? If the bristles seem out of place, when you wash it, shape it the way you’d like, and it should be all okay.

I hope you’ll find this constructive, cause it’s meant to be 🙂 I would have choosen another lip color. The mattes are amazing on you. I think matte looks, sometimes makes makeup look more sophiticated, don’t know why – maybe it’s harder to apply, so it makes you work harder to make it look flawless.

I love, love, love this! LOVE. IT. Simply lovely.

I wish you would do more matte eye colors. I’m 47 years old. I want to be stylish, but sparkle and shimmer doesn’t look so good for daytime wear at my age.

I love it. I may have to start wearing my make up like this for a bit because allergies are making my eyes itch like crazy and I’ve had to minimize my eye make up a bit. Your mom sounds like mine, never compliments the make up unless it looks neutral and not bright and festive LOL

ha ha I’m totally about to use this look on my mother because she has to go to a wedding, my only issue is that she has such small asian eyes that it gets tricky.
