Cult Nails Let’s Get Dirty Nail Lacquer
Cult Nails Let’s Get Dirty Nail Lacquer ($12.00 for 0.50 fl. oz.) is described as a “wax finish taupe.” It’s a mauve-ish taupe with a very faint shimmer that is barely visible if the polish is applied on its own, and then the shimmer is more noticeable if a top coat is applied. It has a waxy or rubbery finish–mostly matte but not a chalky, flat matte. Chanel Frenzy is browner and a cream, so it doesn’t have the wax finish. Barielle Belly Dance is very similar if Let’s Get Dirty has a top coat layered over it.
Let’s Get Dirty is opaque after two coats of polish, and it had a slightly thick consistency, but thanks to the wax finish, the drying time is quicker than the average nail lacquer. It can pool a bit along the edges if you aren’t careful, due to the thicker formula. I like that it has a versatile finish, because a top coat really does bring out the shimmer and gives it a different look. I usually get a full week of wear with very minor tip wear and no chipping with Cult Nails’ formula.

This looks similar to Deborah Lippmann Modern Love perhaps? (Except for the non-top coated finish, of course)
Cool! I love this finish, it’s a great balance of not too matte, not too shiny.
Oooh – I like this color. It may be a bit different from polishes I already own, too.
I wasn’t a huge fan until I saw the pictures with the top coat. That made it for me. It’s a beautiful polish!
I don’t love it in its wax finish form on me (it’s cool, but I’m not personally in love) – but I LOVED it with a top coat!
Im in love with the wax finish, usually I shy away from nude colours but this is the edge that lures me in 🙂 Love how different style everybody has, so inspiring !!
I’m pretty sure this is the kind of shade that either looks great or making your hands look like corps hands depending on your skin tone.
LOL and I fall into the corpse hands variety!
yummy
Ooh, interesing finish, cool!
Wow! That is beautiful, Christine! That looks like a color I’d wear, too!
You know, I’ve never tried wax-finish nail polish. I’d have to know since you mentioned that they dry quicker. One of the things that I hated about applying nail polish is that it takes so quick to dry. There was a tip to dip your nails in cold water after they’ve been painted to make them dry quicker, but it doesn’t seem to really work for me. They would still smudge. UGH!
I love the color! So pretty 🙂
I love this sort of shade. I’d also love to find a coordinating lipstick!
om geezy! yes lipstick in this color!
Wow, perfect dusty rose! Love it!
OoOoh I love the idea of wearing a matte nude/taupe nail polish — I can’t bring myself to wear the nudes that basically look clear, so I’m really intrigued with the Let’s Get Dirty shade…..gorgeous!
This is absolutely gorgeous, Christine! ♥
I haven’t had time to do a lot of blog-reading this month, but my sister sent me a link to this post with the subject line “oh man I saw a nail polish that I liked o.O”. She /hates/ nail polish, so (of course!) I had to give it a look right away! 😛 What a perfect, perfect blend of taupe and blush.
I don’t like the look of matte polishes, but this one is pretty with a top coat.
What a stunning shade. Very “me”… I absolutely love it
what a lovely finish! I’m a fan of the matte look, and this color really suits it.
