NARS Venemous Nail Lacquer Pair Review, Photos, Swatches
NARS Venemous Nail Lacquer Pair
NARS Venemous Nail Lacquer Pair ($29.00 for 1.0 fl. oz.) is described as a “gunmetal” and “black.” Each nail lacquer duo comes in a “shoebox” with a NARS dustbag. The individual polishes don’t have names, but one is labeled as “Left” and the other as “Right” (building off the inspiration, which was Pierre Hardy’s spring shoe collection). However, each bottle is a full-sized bottle (0.50 fl. oz.), like regular NARS’ polishes, which retail for $19.00 normally–so the set is priced at $29.00 but has a value of $38.00. I typically get a week of wear out with very minor tip wear and no chipping with NARS’ formula. This duo is exclusive to NARS’ online and its boutiques.
Venemous (Left) is a high-shine, reflective silver metallic that dries down to a semi-matte finish–it’s not glossy shine, but it’s not a flat matte. It was opaque in two coats, and the consistency was thin but not watery. There were some visible brush strokes but a lot of them faded/disappeared as the polish dried down, and the polish leveled out a bit, too. I don’t have an extensive catalog of silvers that I’ve seen, but China Glaze Cheer You has a more textured/shimmery finish.
Venemous (Right) is a blue-based black cream. It was opaque after two coats, and it had a glossy, shiny finish. It really looked like NARS Back Room. MAC Beyond Jealous looked similar in the bottle but has a greener base. Back Room is one of my favorite black creams, because it’s so rich, easy to apply, and shiny, but you may already have several black creams in your arsenal so it may be too much of a basic to be a must-have.
P.S. — NARS has confirmed that it is called Venemous (with an E, not an O).

How does the silver one compare to Space Odyssey? I have both Back Room and Space Odyssey, so trying to figure out if it’s worth it to get this just for the silver because the set looks so great! 🙂
I don’t think I have it!
Wow, i love the black. I feel like mine never come out that shiney though! Great review, and from the looks of the pictures it’s a perfect polish in terms of shine and everything. Not that I need any more polishes but these look amazing.
Both look good, but the black one is my favorite!
The black is really glossy and gorgeous.
So far all the NARS nail polishes look stunning. Every time I see a new post though I cringe at the beating your nails/cuticles must be taking with all the on and off with the polish remover (your cuticles still look amazing, mine would be torn up). I hope you use hand models. Great pictures though!
totally in love with the silver one!
WOW – that black looks amazing!!
Hi Christine,
I’m surprised at how much I like the NARS + Pierre Hardy Venomous duo — I wouldn’t gravitate towards the colors normally, but they pair so well together!
I think that the black is the most shiniest polish ever! But, overall, I don’t think it’s worth THAT much money because the silver is one of the streakiest polishes ever and they aren’t exactly unique. I have colours that could easily dupe those and you can get the shine from a decent top coat. Waste of money if you ask me.
Not sure about the black but I love the silver. Dont think I would pay that much though…
These are not very unique for the price. Even from a quality standpoint there are comparable polishes for less money. :/
:O
SO PRETTY!!!
Gaaahhh I wish they were not so expensive
🙁
My favourite out of all of the pairs! Absolutely GORGEOUS.
Although these colors are nice and I’m glad they apply well, they aren’t unique enough to justify the higher price tag for me. Thanks for the review!
I really love both of these. I’m almost tempted, despite my love for gel polish!
Love that venomous .. I’m impressed, I have my own nail boutique and have been in the business over 15 years, so if it impresses me.. Its got to look fabulous! wow.. just wow <3
I am a sucker for black polishes. My current fav is Wet N Wild in Black Crème.
I am quite particular when it comes to nail polish sets. I like for both polishes to be something I want to use or I have to REALLY love one enough to forgo the other polish. This set would be THE set out of all the sets that I would no doubt purchase.
Thanks for posting all the sets Christine. I know it must be time consuming and hard work. Please know that I apprecaite all your reviews 🙂
Wow, the first one looks like pools of liquid mercury!
