Temptalia Asks You - Does it matter to you if your lipgloss is sticky?

Does it matter to you if your lipgloss is sticky? Indifferent? Gotta have non-sticky gloss?

.

Anything is fine by me! I like thicker glosses, though, whether they’re stick or not, but I like a good texture and goop-factor, haha! I feel like my hair still gets caught in my gloss, even if it isn’t sticky!

yay! first one to comment 🙂

I hate sticky glosses! The worst one was Lancome Juicy Tubes! I ussually go for those watery ones. The cheep Mabelline ones, watershine something with a twist-pen-type pack is a great one – it deposits enough color, and they’re really not sticky at all.
I am new to MAC and own none of their glosses. Which ones are not sticky?

Carrie Avatar

You could try MAC’s lipgelees–they’re very slick. Other than that, I think they are mostly sticky, although once in a while it seems like a particular color lipglass is less sticky than others (like Icescape). Cremesheen Glass is less sticky also.

viv Avatar

when i bought my first dazzleglass, i thought i could deal with it. but after wearing mine half a dozen times, i couldn’t deal with it anymore. i’m very much into non-sticky lipglosses – and sure don’t mind reapplying them!

Connie Avatar

I don’t mind if they’re a little sticky like MAC Lipglasses but I can’t stand those that I keep getting my hair stuck on (eg. e.l.f. lipglosses, Stila Lipglazes). I really like NYX lipglosses though. They’re smooth and have great consistency.

Eleanor Avatar

I like them in between. My lips are very pigmented and for any of the colour to really show, and I mean even in the slightest bit, my gloss has to be pretty thick and full of colour. But I also hate when it is so thick that there is goop between your lips when you are talking. That is disjusting!

Anitacska Avatar

I prefer mine non-sticky, but I will still buy sticky ones if I love the colour. I hate my hair getting stuck in my gloss though and as I have long hair, it’s a constant problem. 🙁

carriespooner Avatar

My hair gets stuck in Lipglass. I have long hair too so I always wear a headband until I get to where I’m going. It’s a PITA.

charlieee Avatar

i don’t really mind sticky glosses as long as it doesn’t taste disgusting. there was this really pretty gloss that i tried, but it tasted like liquid soap! ewww.

Aleksis Avatar

My lipgloss HAS to be sticky…otherwise I feel like it evaporates after a few minutes…I feel like I’m always smacking my lips to see if it’s still there..I have really long hair, but I don’t have a problem with it getting stuck on my lips because I hold my hair back if I’m anywhere windy, regardless.

amy Avatar

My hubs hates sticky glosses so –yes! — it matters LOL. I must admit that I’m not thrilled with the hair in the lipgloss problem either, but I will put up with a sticky gloss but don’t enjoy it. This is the main reason I love Chanel Glossimers! They feel more gel-like and still have lasting power.

babycakeseses Avatar

sticky can be dealt with if its an awesome color like nars turkish delight~ but i dont like shimmers in glosses because they seem to get all over my face and my BF’s face~

claudine Avatar

love the stickiness of MACs Lipglasses etc.
my boyfriend doesnt like it lol
i dont have problems with getting my hair stuck to it
i dont like watery glosses because they dont stay put

i definitely think the consistency of MAC glosses are ideal. you get the perfect amount of stickiness without it clumping in the corners of your mouth or on the inner rim of your lips. cheap, thick glosses do that and it’s gross. the thickness of MAC is what makes it last so long. i can eat and drink something and still have lipglass on my lips. it’s great (even though I still reapply since i’m obsessed.) i do not like super thin glosses. they just wear off sooo quick. i am a fan of BE Buxom Lipglosses for the perfect tingling, plumping factor but I wish theirs had the consistency of MAC. It wears off too quick.

Nicole15 Avatar

Now that I think of it – can a non-sticky gloss even exist. is it possible to have a gloss with no sticky factor? i think non-sticky is where we fall into the lip balm category. shine w/ no stickiness. hmmmm…..

Taj Avatar

I don’t quite mind, as I wear short hair (hair won’t stick to my lips), but taste/smell would matter more esp they fakey fruity ones !

Cassykins Avatar

I’ve never met a non-sticky gloss. Even the ones people recommended above, I still think are sticky. As Nicole15 mentioned, can a gloss ever be completely non-sticky? I think if it wasn’t, it would be lipstick

cloudburst Avatar

I prefer gel type glosses like Cremesheen that don’t stick. However, i will wear any type gloss if I like the colour. If it’s windy though I wear my hair in a ponytail, LOL.

msviolet Avatar

It doesn’t matter to me if the gloss is sticky; if it’s the perfect shade and lasts longer than an hour, I’m sold. I’ve had pretty good experiences with MAC lipglasses…and I LOVE dazzleglass!

Nic Avatar

I prefer thick glosses, which I guess most people consider sticky. No matter how thin or “non-sticky” a gloss is, my hair still sticks to it. So I’d rather use a thick gloss that’s going to stay put. I just have to pull my hair back if I’m going to be outside, because having hair stuck to my lips annoys the hell out of me.

Lauren Avatar

I love sticky lipgloss! I really dislike non-sticky lipgloss, i feel like it doesn’t last very long on my lips. I love MAC lipglass, dazzleglass and especially Clear lipglass which is especially sticky!

Lingping Avatar

I don’t discriminate between glosses, I love them all 😉 I just save the sticky ones for updo days (getting your hair stuck on your lips really is no fun) – which are actually most days 😉

Allison Avatar

I love sticky lipglosses! They last longer. However, the feel of balm like glosses is nice too.. I really like the l’oreal HIP jelly balms!

Nicci Avatar

I don’t really like sticky lig gloss. If it’s windy my hair will get in my face and sometimes it will stick to my lips. Also, my boyfriend hates it!

Gabsta Avatar

Being new to makeup sticky lips really annoys me, I thought this is something I just had to get used to. But it really does bug me, so distracting. Might shop around for more comfy lip glosses after reading this latest post.

The other day it was windy and my hair got in my lip gloss, then with the next gush of wind my hair got stuck to my cheek. Quite funny when trying to impress people at work lunch.

Mira Avatar

I have to have non-sticky ones! The best I’ve tried is Estee Lauder’s high glosses, but they are very sheer =( I will occasionally settle for MAC’s sticky lipglasses only because they are very pigmented.

Leslie Avatar

It doesn’t matter to me if my lipgloss is sticky or not. I just love the shine! I am a die-hard MAC fan and will always wear their lip glass!

MizzMeka Avatar

Personally, I don’t care if the gloss is sticky…as long as it looks good I’m a happy girl!!!

I do put a lil blistex or lip balm on my lips before I apply MAC’s lipglass…it kinda helps with not making the texture of the lipglass feel soooo freakin thick.

Ruth Avatar

I much prefer my glosses sticky and ever better if they happen to be super sticky, a la Make Up For Ever Super Gloss. I can only wear glosses that last, otherwise it’s just wasting money.

Vivian Avatar

I DISLIKE STICKY GLOSSES!! But there’s always tiny exception, hehe.. I kinda like Lancome juicy World Tour tubes but the smell has gotten TOO strong for me. The finish is nice, but I strayeed away from a bunch I owned-and discarded. I’m now in love with NYX glosses, also with the revised version of NYX round gloss. It’s kind of like cream but minus the stickiness. The NYX Megashine has melted liquid lipstick finish, not sticky and Both are easy to clean up.. And, I’m interested in a Mineral brand SN gloss, also with its initial strong waxy smell, it goes on like a dream! Yumm..

Sara Kye Avatar

Not entirely. I do take the factor into consideration but it doesn’t stop me from using it. I’m pretty irked about getting my hair stuck on my lips but I still use sticky/not that sticky gloss either ways. I’ll just have to hold my hair when there’s wind. haha.

Nadine Avatar

I hate hate HATE sticky glosses so I avoid all lip glosses with isobutene and polyisobutene as primary ingredients. I also avoid mineral oil (e.g. Tarte) because it’s ridiculous for me to pay sooo much for a gloss for an ingredient that’s sooo cheap. I prefer glosses from mineral makeup companies that use non-sticky ingredients like jojoba oil, castor oil, sweet almond oil, vitamin E, etc.

Rachel Avatar

Nadine, thanks for the great tip! Isobutene and polyisobutene… isobutene and polyisobutene… I shall commit that to memory and check the ingredient list of all my future lipglosses!

Daisy Avatar

I really really hate sticky lipglosses. I usually wear my hair down and with a small gush of wind you end up having half your hair stuck in your lipgloss. I used to own a few sticky ones, but in the end I just threw them out. Too annoying to wear. Now I make sure to try them out before I purchase a lipgloss.

Rebecca Avatar

Ew yeah it matters. It makes me not want to wear the lipgloss so my hair doesn’t get stuck in it as I like to wear my hair down a lot. Plus the feeling on your lips is not good.

Christy Avatar

No, it doesn’t matter if it’s sticky or not. Getting my hair stuck in it is not a big deal. My preference (& boyfriend’s) is a nicely scented lipgloss more than anything!

Julie Avatar

I can not stand sticky glosses. I have long hair and live in a windy part of the world (DENMARK) and hate getting my blond hair all colored when I pull it off my sticky lips. But I love glosses, they are great.

Angie Avatar

I haven’t come across a real gloss that isn’t sticky, that is worth it. My boyfriend hates glosses though, he hates sticky stuff, so i just throw on a TLC and you get a bit of both worlds :]

JillyB Avatar

I don’t like really sticky lipglosses. I just don’t like the feel of them. MAC l/g is about right for me. If it’s too thin, it just doesn’t last long enough.

Hanna Avatar

I actually don’t mind if its sticky. I’ve grown up with ultra, sticky lipglosses which was a staple back in middle school. However, I do get really peeved when my hair sticks to my lips, now that’s annoying!

elle Avatar

I don’t really mind. I hate it when my hair gets blown into my lg. It drives me absolutely insane. I’ll use anything that I like the colour of and has good texture.
