Do you purchase new beauty brands when you're traveling out of your area?

I haven’t traveled in so long, so I haven’t really had the opportunity. I think if it was a hard to find brand or one I wasn’t confident buying without testing/seeing in person, I would!

Please help us streamline the comments' section and be more efficient: double-check the post above for more basic information like pricing, availability, and so on to make sure your question wasn't answered already. We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! Thank you for understanding!

I almost always do but on this most recent trip (to Japan), I honestly didn’t have the time and the language issue was a REAL barrier (heightened because I really didn’t have the time to ask, to use Google translate, etc.). But one of the things I always liked about travel generally and hopping over the border to the US was getting brands or products I couldn’t get here in Canada.

I have tried but have mostly been unsuccessful! While traveling through Europe in 2018 I did pick up a few things at French drugstores. I primarily use Nuxe Reve de Miel lip balm and it is getting harder to find it even online. While in Paris I picked up several pots, a cleanser, face oil and mask and enjoyed them all. French pharmacies are really interesting and I could have spent a day there had we not had a tour planned that day. In Italy I tried unsuccessfully to find a place to buy a brand, (I must not have needed it badly as I can’t remember the name!) but could not find it anywhere. It was a brand I had seen repeatedly while on IG and I contacted them several times before leaving and they didn’t respond to me. I tried one last time while in Europe and they responded, words to the effect, that they were everywhere. I never saw them. I picked up a lipstick in every country and found one in a London boutique that was a brand I have never heard of read anything about. I actually decluttered it recently as it had started to turn and smelled quite bad. It likely was a clean brand and didn’t have any preservative. While in Amsterdam, I came across Ilia and while it is available everywhere now, it wasn’t then and I got a lipstick from them. It was 99 balloons which I still have and love. Needless to say, you cannot buy much due to airline packing rules so I purposely didn’t buy much.

Travel? What is this thing called travel that you speak of? JK! 😂
About the only time I do any sort of traveling is when we have either an Circuit Assembly or Regional Convention in Casa Grande (we used to go to Tucson for the Regional Convention).
If I need to go back to the East Coast for any reason, I might try to go to the huge Sephora in NYC? Or to the major outlet mall near there that has a freestanding cosmetics company store.

Quite a few countires in the world have different makuep brands that are inaccessible to me in Aus. If it were a brand that had been reviewed here or I had heard great things about it elsewhere, then I would make a purchase – probably a lipstick or even a blush to test the waters.

I absolutely love exploring stores, including beauty counters when I travel. I like seeing and trying new stuff. I never purchase for me because I prefer to stick to my tried and true products I can repurchase any time; but I buy them as gifts for other people sometimes. 😀 My mom especially loves beauty products from out of the ordinary places.

Yes! If I’ve researched beforehand I’ll definitely purchase new brands, especially in Korea. I like trying new things if my face can tolerate it and sometimes it’s easier to pick up other brands in a different country.
