I used to vary it a lot but now I stick to one look every day. I also use the same basic look for going out at nights, but I push it a little further by tightlining my top lids, adding a neutral shimmery shadow, and brushing my face with Guerlain Meteroites. The only thing that changes regularly is my lipstick. I don’t like wearing the same one two days in a row.
When I have the time, I will do something different. If it’s a special occasion or we are going out, I try different eyeshadow shades or lipstick. I love deep jewel tones in green, blue or purple. But if it’s a normal rushed beauty routine I have my go-to’s for a 5-minute face. Usually dark gray or dark brown eyeshadow, quick wash of pink blush and easy everyday pink lipstick.
Definitely vary! Alot depends on if I’m just going out for lunch or going for a swanky dinner at night.
Also it depends on what I’m wearing colorwise whether I go for cool neutrals or warm colors. If I’m going to wear dark or red lipstick I usually tone down the eye makeup a little…More dramatic eyes with lighter lips….
My make up is pretty much usually the same, except eyeshadow and blush (I try to rotate through the colors I have regularly).
I go through phases. Right now I am into a simpler one: base color (shimmer or matte), a darker crease (shimmer or matte), and a cat-eye w/liquid liner over the whole thing. I’m leaving the lower lid completely bare b/c of my chronic eye condition and starting to experiment with thicker under-eye concealer. Face is basic powder foundation, then brows and that’s about it. I mask everywhere still, so no lipstick unless I have a zoom meeting.
I am likely making this question more complicated than it has to be but as far as colors used, I vary those a lot but regarding shadow placement, not so much. I have been trying to teach myself how to successfully move my hood up a bit by using a more contour tone above my natural crease line and then using a lighter shade to make it look like I have more lid space. I have seen it done a million times on YouTube but for some reason it really isn’t working for me. I don’t know if the shades I am using are wrong or whether it is my placement. I would get a bleph if I had the money!! I watched Angela, (French For A Day on YT) do it for her Christmas eye look last year and it was so successful but her eyes are definitely different from mine.
Back to the question, I don’t think I do as many complicated looks as I use to. I use to use 5, 6 or more shades in my looks and now it is mostly just 2 or 3, or at the most, 4.
Christine, I don’t know how to message you privately so I apologize if this is inappropriate on the blog, but I have been trying to find information about an old Chanel palette that is called Marbles and was #51. I have searched google and her on the blog and I cannot find it anywhere except for the two that are on sale on secondary sites. I am just wondering if you even remember this palette. I believe it is definitely real and their are the usual four pans. They are the rounded pans and the shadows themselves look marbled and there is an overspray. I contacted the two sellers and neither one has touched the palette and they don’t want to because they don’t want to ruin its value. I can usually find an old blog post even on other sites that show swatches but this palette is almost like it never existed. Just wondering. Thank you.
I have not heard of it / it’s not ringing any bells in my memory at all! 🙁
They say that “variety is the spice of life”, and I have always believed this to be true when it comes to my makeup and fashion tastes! I truly enjoy playing with various color combinations and types of products (cream vs powder). That said, I do have a few quickie looks up my sleeve for days when I’m not feeling creative or I’m in a hurry to leave the house.
I usually vary my makeup looks every few days but it definitely depends! If I’m in a hurry or uninspired (or on vacation) I’ll just do a basic look — eyebrows, lips, eye crease and liner. Sometimes I plan a look for the next day, in which case I’ll have the product(s) out and ready. I usually get excited about some product I have and use it for a few days then switch it out. At one point I realized, I have all this makeup I bought and like but I don’t use it all! Let me set it up so it’s easy to access and I can enjoy it more and that’s what I’ve been trying to do recently.
I’m lazy, go to basic most days, tinted sunscreen, tiny bit of foundation and concealer, hourglass powder on top of cream blush, eyeliner, tinted lip balm. Takes less than five mins. Only do full makeup for special events.
i have a few looks i will cycle between! while i will play with color and different lip finishes, my looks tend to fall into one of three categories: 1) a wash of shimmer across the lid, with subtle smudged liner and lots of mascara 2) a bold winged liner 3) 1960’s mod inspired eyes, often in light turquoise, lavender, or white!
I work in financial services, which is still a pretty conservative industry, so my look during the week (base, light bronzer or blush, tightliner and mascara) doesn’t change much. I save my fun makeup for going out and special events.
I do have a go to for every day makeup, if I’m going out in the evening I like to jazz it up. I like to wear a different lipstick every day though.
I almost always do some sort of “go to”, neutral eye look with a pink or berry cheek and a red or berry (MAC Craving) lip. It’s how I feel most comfortable and most attractive.
I do vary my eye and lipsticks colours depending on what I am wearing, which of course changes every day.
I have a go to. Nude or bronze but shimmery eye, bronzer in the summer/PML Desert Rose in winter, mascara, lip color of some sort. I decluttered my makeup collection at the end of summer and now I need to buy more lip color!
I vary my makeup. It all depends on what I wear, how I feel and how I look.
Right now I use a liquid shimmery eyeshadow on my mobile lid, different days, different colours, but sort of sheer. I add a smudged liner and mascara. Defined brows and a stronger lip.
I feel like this suits me better at the moment and draws attention to the lips and the lower face, instead of the eyes and the upper face.
There are days when I want a much stronger, more defined eye look, that’s when I use transition shadows and so on, much more opaque colourful eyeshadows, though sometimes I do use neutrals.
What I do has a lot to do with the mood of the day.
I have a go to, one-and-done look regarding eyeshadow, but I will switch my lipstick around depending on my mood, what I’m wearing and/or the occasion.
