I want the baked gel back! (think MUFE highlighters [and bronzers] circa 2016, those are still a huge favourite)
MUFE relaunched their highlighters but for some reason, they’re only available on their site and at Camera Ready Cosmetics. I think the 2 shades are very similar if not identical to the older ones.
I wish there were more options for people who don’t like wearing highlighters. I mean those subtle natural shade illuminating powders you don’t even notice are there but give a certain something; the shades that don’t add golds, silvers, blues, purples… just light…
Absolutely agree!
Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder may be just what you’re looking for. Have you tried it?
I’ve tried a mini in the past, not necessarily a fan of anything Hourglass (except brow products)
Well, I have enough highlighter to coat my entire body, so I don’t really have any requests for something I’m missing out on. IMO a lot of highlighters have been too opaque—formulated like eyeshadows—and they look best when they’re translucent, which seems to be more common again since the blinding metallic trend has gone by the wayside.
True “glass skin” baked geleé formulas that just add a wet shine without heavy opacity. Something that fuses one’s blush to their foundation/CC or BB cream/skin tint without leaving the highlighter stripe! I do believe that Haus Labs did a good job with theirs. I know that there’s others, but my brain is malfunctioning today.
This is the way
Haus Labs did a brilliant job with their Moonstone shade! It’s an almost scary tin man silver in the pan but is virtually colorless when blended on the skin, just giving a reflective shine. It’s the perfect shade for pale cool toned vampires like me and I wish there were more options like it that give the shine without the color.
I think if I were a highlighter wearer person I would want a formula that has cooler undertones – so many of them are warm.
I agree! ALL! THE! DUOCHROMES! Idk if I’d use ones with colored bases all that much, but I can never have too many duochromes lol.
Honestly I’m not sure, the ones that intrigue me are not sold in stores so I can’t swatch them. I’m looking for a translucent based duochrome like you mention in your post but I don’t want chunky or glittery, I would love a subtle highlight but with obvious color shift. I don’t know if that’s even a thing, but I could see me using that on my cheeks as well as a topper for my shadow sticks.
I want a sheer glossy sheen without any glitter, shimmer or sparkle at all, that’s also buildable to be more reflective. I also want brands to stop claiming champagne and gold shades are universal and include pale cool toned options like a barely there pink or moonlit beige. Vampires like highlighter too but we need shades that suit us!
I agree, I’m not vampyric myself, just light and neutral, but warmish tones looks odd on my skin.
Everything in my collection has either a cool or neutral undertone bc warm tones make me look sick and while we are seeing some truly cool toned options, most brands don’t even include one when creating new products. It’s frustrating to see a new collection of eyeshadow sticks, liquid shadows, highlighters…etc with only warm champagne, gold, rose gold and bronze shades; on the rare occasion that a cool toned shade is included, it’s almost always silver.
I just wish brands would stop finally acknowledge that there’s no such thing as a universal shade and not everyone can wear warm tones.
Sorry for the rant lol!!
I had my hair coloured red(ish) for a year or so, then I could use some a bit warmer cheek products, with my natural hair, it looks odd.
I can use most tones and colours on my eyelids, just not yellow, orange or any really warm shade.
I do wish cool toned products were more common, but the makeup industry isn’t quick when it comes to understanding. Just think of how long it’s taken for most brands to understand that there are deeper darker skin than southern European. Also I can imagine that a lot of the olive toned people have a hard time.
Feel free to rant anytime. 😀
