No! I do not like other people touching my face!
Before my daughter got married, I went to Sephora for some ideas about how to do my eye makeup. The makeup artist used (I think) the Stila In the Light palette (one they still sold and which I had) at my request and did a lovely eye look but it was much more “full on” than I would have chosen for myself. I don’t think I’d have the patience or interest to have my makeup done, unless it was for something specific like to see how a particular foundation formula looked/worked on my skin….
Think I’ve become more tactilely defensive, but now no way, BITD I had Jane from Benefit do mine. Totally uninspired, hah! At Bendel’s, no less. Think we’re all past our sell by dates now.
No I don’t.
If it’s someone who knows what they’re doing, it can be fun.
Even though I’m usually not crazy about having people in my bubble, I think it’s really interesting to see how someone else interprets my face, who isn’t bound by my own comfort zone and preferences. Years ago, I frequented a MAC store that was on my way home from work; one night, the artist who was often working when I stopped in, Liam, treated me to a face full of makeup choices I would not make for myself, but actually looked lovely.
However, I haven’t had the opportunity since before, y’know, ha ha.
I don’t mind actually so long as I trust their tools/cosmetics are disinfected and won’t irritate my skin (or if they were using mine). And of course, if they were gentle and considerate. It’s always interesting to see what choices people would make with my face as the canvas.
Other than them applying a bit of foundation in order to match me to the correct shade, not really. Having been a Sephora Rouge on again/off again for years, I have NEVER taken advantage of the free makeover or anything that would mean someone else touching my face. Then again, I’m on the Autism Spectrum, so having a stranger touch me feels very uncomfortable and makes me feel invaded!
No. If it was a famous celebrity MUA (would 100% sign up to have Scott Barnes paint/carve up my face, lol) I’d love to see what they would do for an editorial look but not for an event, or any time really.
I don’t mind, as long as the products are those that suit me and the makeup artist listens to my requests. I’ve had a few dud ones and I can’t forget the EL MUA who applied toner to my sensitive skin and my skin immediately began peeling…..
Yes, because I get really stuck in a rut doing my own
No, I am too anxious for that! I like it a certain way and I don’t like to deviate. I do not mind pointers or help with shade matching, though.
I used to but I think I’ve aged out of it because even when I say I want like coverage and sheer, I get at least medium to full coverage and I just feel like everything is caked on. I think when I was younger, I could just sit down and I was comfortable with whatever was done but I think since my tastes have changed, I feel like I’m nitpicking too much so it’s back to tutorials I go.
*light coverage
Also, I don’t mind other people touching my face – I actually quite like it, I like the way make up smells and love a good facial massage.
Nooooooooooo!!!!! I am way too much of a germphobe.
I always go a little early and have a mini facial done at Sephora, then have my makeup done. I really enjoy it as they explain what they’re doing along the way and why, and the end result has always been beautiful.
If I’m going to a special event I like to have my makeup professionally done, because I don’t want the stress of doing a mistake and ruining that day. That’s why I always pre-test makeup artists, even if it costs my more money.
But I hate the process. I hate having another person touching my face (even with tools), I hate having so close physically a stranger (even if I seen them a couple of times), I hate being touched by someone else’s makeup and tools. 😅
Nope. Don’t like other people coming at my face with brushes and stuff…especially around my contact-wearing sensitive eyes.
I like everything until we get to the mascara or liner. I don’t trust anyone working near my eyes. This anxiety kicks in and I think the MUA is going to flick my eyball out. I know it’s not possible but…my brain can’t relax.
Yes!
I actually love it. I love it even if I don’t always love the result, it just happened once.
I’ve had fun makeovers at MAC more than once, at Dior and at a lot of other counters and in some stores. I also love hearing what advise they share.
Lots of fun, and very relaxing, yes even the mascara. 🙂
I would love the opportunity to have my make up done by some really good make up artist to get inspiration and to learn a few new tricks. I’m also curious to see how “gorg” I could look when made up by a real pro.
I generally am not tempted by the make overs offered by the counters at the department stores: I’m not always convinced by how the staff have done their own make up but I might be interested in a make over to see how their products perform (returning products that do not work for me isn’t possible in my country). I’m have some concerns over the level of hygiene at the counters, though.
Not really either. They rarely do it as colorful or unique as I would.
