Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: Makeup by Mario blushes, NARS Afterglow Blushes, UD Liquid Blusuhes
Weekend plans: We say goodbye to the Yogis tomorrow afternoon! I’ll do their 8-week photoshoot and get their paw prints for my memories before taking them back to the rescue to meet their new fosters (who will foster than for the next two weeks; they will be split into a trio and a pair). We will miss them so much, but I know they will do so much growing up and learning as they take their next steps! Depending on whether AZ Humane Society finds placement before Sunday, I am scheduled to pick up three 5.5 week old pittie pups who seem like they were neglected a bit!
What is your creative outlet? These days, not a lot, but if I had one, I’d still say eye makeup!
Psst… since it’s Friday and we’re heading into the weekend, if you have some downtime, consider playing one of the games hubby and I have created! 🙂 You’ll find all of our games on Awordy, but here’s a breakdown of what we have so far:
- Adoptle (guess the name of an adoptable pet in six guesses)
- Concludle (figure out the subject within six clues)
- Mislettered (guess one letter at a time to figure out the phrase/quote)
- Word Frenzy (find as many words from the letters available before the shark devours them)
This week's doggo photo/video...

Recent Purchases: Every time I think I’ve found my perfect nude lipstick, something comes along to blow it away. Yesterday I bought the latest in my long line of “OMG-This-Is-My-Perfect-Nude” lipsticks: Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet Intemporelle (60). Can it get any more perfect than that? Also, in keeping with my current Chanel obsession, I bought Chanel Coco Noir EDP (even though I bought Chanel Coco EDP last week). I am doing everything in my power to keep myself from buying Coromandel, which is soooo expensive!
Rediscoveries: Everything Chanel in my makeup collection!
Weekend Plans: Visiting family, laundry, groceries, etc.
What is your creative outlet? Writing, playing, and recording music.
RECENT PURCHASES:
Sun Bum sunscreen, black hair elastics
WEEKEND PLANS:
We’re still in Seattle with our son and his GF for a couple more days. Today, we’ll get some lunch, and visit the Aquarium and a curiosity shop. Tomorrow, we’re going to the Chihuly museum and garden, and head home later that day. Sunday, my son’s GF has a beginner crochet class, and I’ll hang out there and work on my own project. (I’m making a stuffed Cthulhu doll.)
WHAT IS YOUR CREATIVE OUTLET?
Knitting, crocheting, junk journaling, makeup, and fashion.
Recent Purchases: The ND Yucca collection. I got the palette yesterday and the eye pencils are on the way. I’m thrilled with the palette; the shimmers are the normal wonderful ND quality, but the shimmers are actually really beautiful — not the usual satin shades with scattered sparkles that are in most of her palettes.
Rediscoveries: Lighter base for summer. I’ve used Paula’s Choice Super Light Daily Wrinkle Defense sunscreen with concealer and blush/highlight for the week and love how weightless, skinlike and perfecting it is.
Weekend plans: We have an open house for a friend’s daughter that graduated HS on Saturday and on Sunday I’m meeting up with my BFF for brunch. And hopefully some pool time in between. My son, just today, finally got into the big pool and realized how much fun it can be, and now he’s asking to go back every day this summer. 🙂
What is your creative outlet? My job is creative my nature, so a lot of my creative energy is spent on that. My makeup is a creative outlet. When I need something that isn’t graphic design I try to draw or color while listening to music, but that doesn’t happen too often.
Gosh, I’m really going to miss the Yogi’s! I’d love to adopt Crane! No one would ever suspect any “pitbull” DNA there, now would they? 🤔
Purchases/rediscoveries: Just ordered my HG eye serum, Dr. Dennis Gross Advanced Retinol & Ferulic Triple Correction Eye Serum. Due to noticing just how similar my old Coloured Raine Safari Raine palette, plus ND’s own Mini Gold are (along with Savant from MAC Toledo collection), I can pretty much dupe ND Yucca Midi Palette. And so I’m planning on using these in some looks to make sure that my assumptions are correct. Hopefully, yes, as that would spare me $69!
Weekend plans: The usual. Zoom meeting tomorrow morning. Household stock-up and some food shopping. Try to get in some swimming, too.
Creative outlet? When I have both the mental energy and someplace to go, doing my makeup. Especially when I get really creative and even bold with my eye makeup. Mind you, my eyes are shaped and sized just like Tara from Tarababyz and a very similar color, too. Very little mobile lid showing when I’m looking straight ahead, puffy hoods, flatter almond shape, so it can get interesting… but my go-to looks are high cut-crease (but softer) or halo eyes. Similar, yet not as thick eyeliner placement as hers, otherwise it gets buried in under all my heavy hoodage.
How cute are they!! I just love their fluffy fur and eyes.
Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: I picked up some Olaplex No. 8 on the 2 for $40 sale at Ulta, an ELF waterproof eyeliner (I heard the formula changed with Stila). I got the Pat McGrath Darth Vader palette as a birthday gift for a Star Wars x makeup loving friend of mine. I’m going to give it with a card with idea for looks that I think would look great on her. I have been super tempted to get one myself, because I absolutely loved the dimensions of the shadows in the R2D2 palette.
Weekend plans: Get caught up with work, and made check out a museum with a friend! I really want to finish painting my living room too.
What is your creative outlet? Painting is my number one! I also love to dance, garden, write, and cook. In each of those, I try to add a personal spice that makes the endeavor feel like I’m creating something new.
Bless you for fostering the puppies; they were lucky to have you in their young lives!
Thank you!
Puppy pics made my Friday! Thank you!
Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: Sephora Germanium Stone Facial Massager, and Freck Slimelight HIghlighter.
Weekend plans: My husband is still out of town so it’s just my dog, my daughter’s dog and myself. I’m enjoying trying some new recipes that wouldn’t appeal to my husband.
What is your creative outlet? I love cooking, cross stitching, painting and beading.
Recent purchases: nothing to exciting – a Neutrogena facial sunscreen (hoping to find something “cheap and cheerful” to use at school), some foot cream and I can’t even remember what else… Rediscoveries: Two Cargo eye palettes – Chill in the 6 and The Essentials. I’m enjoying using them in these blistering hot days of “faux summer”.
Weekend plans: gym and some grocery shopping tomorrow, then picking up son and his friends from airport tomorrow night; Sunday – brunch with my daughter, son in law and their baby and with “Uncle J” – my son hasn’t seen the baby since Christmas. I have a rosebush, a day lily and a new rhubarb plant all to get planted this weekend as well.
My creative outlet: sewing (clothing, not things like curtains or quilts, though I wish I had the patience for dealing with huge amounts of fabric or the precision needed to make quilt blocks fit together!) and baking. It used to be cooking in general but I am SO tired of cooking day in and day out. Baking is something I only have to do when the mood takes me.
The video is just fabulous and Winnie is so, so patient with them. I think he is going to miss them. They look so healthy, happy and alert and I hope their next fosters take care of them as well as you have. You will be very sad to see them go.
Recent Purchases: Nothing
Rediscoveries: Lorac’s Noir palette – I have hit pan on several shades, it is a stunning palette.
Weekend Plans: Nothing really much planned this weekend. I am over covid, my new car is fabulous and everyone else in the family are well and healthy…a miracle.
I visited my twin sister last week and she is looking well. Her radiation treatment starts on June 13th and she is understandably a bit nervous about that. I took out a whole stack of food for her – her favourite soups and casseroles.
Anika has finished work this week and her kindergarten gave her a lovely send off. She will miss them. She is quite well, but tired (as one would expect being nearly 8 months pregnant with 3 other children).
We can’t wait to see our newest addition to the family.
Creative Outlet: I don’t really have much of a creative outlet now that I am not teaching, but I do love my makeup and sometimes cooking.
What a good and caring sister you are. Continued good wishes to her for a successful and not to difficult to tolerate treatment! Does she know that she has a bunch of perfect (in so many ways) strangers here who are rooting for her and sending good vibes…
Did I tell you that I thought I’d found the LORAC Noir palette for around $25 or 27 on Amazon? I was SO excited but when I went to add it, it turned out I was on Amazon.com, not Amazon.ca and the price suddenly went up to over $60 AND there was shipping added on top of that! I removed the thing from my cart!
Holy Moly Mariella – from Amazon and that is so horribly expensive! You can get the palette cheaper, I think, from Camera Ready cosmetics. What a rip off!
Yes, my sister does know that there are a whole lot of lovely, wonderful people from the other side of the world seding her good wishes and positive vibes – she is so touched by it and really appreciates it.
It will be a difficult journey for her.
Thank you once again for your good wishes Mariella!
I’m glad you and the family are doing well. You’re so sweet to do that for your sister. I wish her the best with the radiation treatment.
Thank you Rachel. It’s going to be tough but she has me and a bunch of her friends to help her through it. She really appreciates all of your good wishes from the other side of the world too.
What a nice week, everyone well and healthy!
I’m keeping your twin sister in my thoughts.
Oh, the puppies! They are so lovely. I’ll miss them and can’t imagine how much you will miss the little fun darlings.
Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: No purchases. Rediscoveries, well not really. I used UD Naked on Thursday. It’s still a great palette.
MAC Velvet Teddy also got out from hiding last week.
Weekend plans: Weekend is almost gone. I’ve been taking care of Stubbs the Schnauzer who had a toe amputated Thursday.
He is a bit of a handful when it comes to eating in general, but since Thursday we’ve had to put his food into his mouth for him. He almost tried eating yesterday. At least now he drinks his water. Thursday and Friday I used a syringe to get some water into him.
Of course he is in pain though he gets medication. To add to it all one of the medicines has wrecked havoc on his stomach. Something this particular medication can do so now it’s out.
It’s difficult as one can’t tell him things are for his benefit.
Tomorrow, Monday we are going back to the vet for a check up on the wound.
What is your creative outlet? Many, but I have to have the energy to start. AS it is now it’s just makeup and gardening. I like sewing (clothes), knitting, various needlepoint stuff.
