Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: Tom Ford quads finally arrived! I have them swatched, just need to edit the photos. I also bought the new Moira liquid eyeshadows but haven’t photographed those yet.

Weekend plans: The Yogis turn six-weeks-old tomorrow, so they’ll get their first vaccines! It also means we’ll be taking a field trip down to the rescue to do so. I just finished giving the four babies a bath, and I’m about to have lunch and then settle in to editing photos/swatches.

Are you an introvert or an extrovert? Absolutely an introvert. The only person that doesn’t exhaust my energy to socialize is my husband, who I can be around forever, but I can only handle so much social interaction before I need to recharge.

Psst… since it’s Friday and we’re heading into the weekend, if you have some downtime, consider playing one of the games hubby and I have created! 🙂 You’ll find all of our games on Awordy, but here’s a breakdown of what we have so far:

  • Adoptle (guess the name of an adoptable pet in six guesses)
  • Concludle (figure out the subject within six clues)
  • Mislettered (guess one letter at a time to figure out the phrase/quote)
  • Word Frenzy (find as many words from the letters available before the shark devours them)

This week's doggo photo/video...

Recent Purchases: The Blend Bunny Lure palette, some Clionadh singles.

Rediscoveries: Not really a rediscovery, but I am discovering that I like lighter coverage, matter foundations because I have also discovered that I am an oily girly. I do love me some glow, still, but I’d rather my base make up not break down by the end of the day as it previously has.

Weekend plans: My son is going to have a sleepover at my MIL’s house, so my husband and I will have a movie marathon and sleep in!

Are you an introvert or an extrovert? Absolutely an introvert. I can be social and love it with the right people, but need a lot of alone time to recharge.

Puppies! They’re so adorable, playing and coming up to the camera. ❤️
RECENT PURCHASES:
I took advantage of their F&F sale, and ordered some Supergoop Unseen Sunscreen and (Re) setting Mineral Powder SPF 35 in Translucent. I have rosacea, so I need mineral sunscreen for my face.

WEEKEND PLANS:
Today, my husband and I are going to a night airshow kicking off the Oregon International Air Show at our local airport. I’ve had noisy jets flying over my house yesterday and today. 🙂

Saturday, we’re going to the daytime airshow with my sons, their roommate, and my younger son’s GF.

ARE YOU AN INTROVERT OR AN EXTROVERT?
I’m an introvert, no doubt about it (Myers-Briggs INFJ). I need breaks from people to recharge.

Rachel, I don’t know if you’ve tried Unseen Sunscreen before, but it’s the first sunscreen that my oily, combination, cranky skin has been able to tolerate. I’m very happy with it for the most part — I do think some foundations oxidize a teensy bit with it, but since I tend to err on the “too light” side, it generally works well for me. Particularly in the summer, when I can go from a perfect match to whoops, I’m a ghost in the span of a few days!

Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries:
I guess I rediscovered an Urban Decay lipstick I had misplaced while I was reconfiguring how I have my makeup stored!

Weekend plans:
Husband wants to see his dad on Saturday, and other than that, I don’t have anything concrete other than recuperating from a flareup and continuing to unpack/organize.

Are you an introvert or an extrovert?
You pretty much already wrote how I feel. I’m exhausted just by having to contact people, then plan/schedule whatever the hell we’re supposed to do, let alone doing the actual socializing. To be fair, I am exhausted easily and a lot of things feel like tasks, but “interacting with humans” is unfortunately one of them.

BrandiD Avatar

Those puppies are TOO cute! I want the one who falls asleep on you, that’s totally my vibe.

Recent purchases/Rediscoveries: I’ve been working my way through my foundation backlog and I’m finally getting down to the last few, but I just bought another bottle of Lancome Care & Glow in 125W because it’s my favorite summer base. I found one last bottle of my old standby, Guerlain Lingerie de Peau Natural Perfection in 00N, but I’m not sure if it’s a little too light. I also think it might be starting to separate, but I plan to try using it anyway because I feel silly for having hoarded it this long. I’ll probably try it over Unseen Sunscreen (which can sometimes make foundations oxidize a little on me) and see if the color still works.

Weekend Plans: Date night tonight with the hubs, then shopping and helping my youngest pack for her trip next week.

Introvert or Extrovert?: Introvert, all the way. I can handle a lot of socializing but I need a near equal amount of down time.

Warrior is such a DOLL! 🐾❤️🐕❤️🐾

Purchases/rediscoveries: Well, on a totally SLEEPLESS night this past Monday, I ordered Dior Plum Tulle 5 Couleur quint. And I sure am glad that I did! Because neither Plum Tulle or Tutu is included in Dior’s reformulated non-talc “clean” beauty lineup, so I am really happy to now have both.
Rediscovered my very old Nars Hot Trust cheek palette last night. Beautiful still, but I really had to grind and poke my brush into the deepest shade in order to get anything on my brush.

Weekend plans: Other than my Zoom meeting tomorrow morning, just enjoying our very bizarre May-Soon! We got hammered last night with some pretty intense thunderstorms, which I had never seen happen in May.

Introvert or Extrovert? I’m definitely a serious introvert who can become nervously chatty with like just one or two others if I’m put in a situation where there’s many people around! And yet, I am able to cope with our Annual Convention or a concert, because I can just meld into the crowd trying to not interact much, or stick with whoever I went to either/or with.

Recent Purchases: Guerlain Jicky Eau de Parfum…so totally gorgeous!

Weekend plans: Recovering from a mild bout of food poisoning. I’m not sure what caused it, but at least it’s not severe.

Are you an introvert or an extrovert? I’m a textbook introvert. Socializing exhausts me!

I’m on vacation and my weekend plans are to sample and buy wine in Sonoma, Getting out of AZ for a few.

The black and brown Yogi has my heart. Miss my rottenweiler,Chaos.

Genevieve Avatar

My goodness, those puppies are just so adorable and so much fun to watch their antics. Winnie is a very relaxed customer, as one of the pups climbs all over him. They must be getting some teeth, as I noticed that they are chewing everything. How beautiful they are and they must bring both you and Shaun so much joy and happiness.

Recent Purchases: Nada
Redsicoveries: Stila in the Garden, I used yesterday to complement a top I was wearing.

Weekend Plans: My new car has finally arrived and it is fabulous. Very easy to drive (similar to my old one) and very comfortable. My husband has announced that he now quite enjoys going into the shopping centre for the groceries…wonders will never cease!
We have been thinking for awhile now that Lachlan’s bad episodes (my 7 year old grandson) with croup had ceased as he has aged, but last Thursday night he had his worst attack of croup ever.
Earlier in the evening he had already been to a clinic and seen by a doctor as he started ‘barking’ – that tell tale sign of a croup cough. He was given some steriods and other medication and was fine.
An hour later at home, he collapsed and whilst my DIL rang the ambulance, my son was with him, as he watched Lachlan flail for air and turn blue, limp and unresponsive. My son said it was the most terriifying thing ever to watch your son die before your eyes.
Luckily the ambulance arrived quickly (Anika was out in the street waiting for them to come to show them the house, with Harry on her hip) and quickly gave him an injection of adrenaline, with the mobile intensive care unit arriving shortly after. Because they now live in a different suburb to their old place, they went to another hospital. Both the ambulance drivers, the intensive care specialist and the ER staff at the hospitlal have said that it was the worse case of croup they have ever seen and he was close to dying from it.
Lachlan has spent the last couple of days in hospital and he is being released this morning (Saturday).
We came over to their house late on Thursday night to look after the other two children whilst Anika went into the hospital. My son went with Lachlan in the ambulance and stayed there overnight.
So it has been quite an exhausting week in our family….

Introovert/Extrovert: I think I am a bit of both, I do enjoy socialising, but mostly with my friends. I am not a fan of parties or large groups. I do also like my time alone as well.

Mariella Avatar

Genevieve – how terrifying about Lachlan. Do they know what triggered this episode? Will they be able to give his parents (and him, in case this happens when he’s at school, etc.) a portable treatment – like an epi-pen type of device – to administer in an emergency?

Genevieve Avatar

The croup episode was a big, bad virus. He had stayed home from school last Wednesday because it had a bad headache, but no other symptoms and was right for school on Thursday.
The really scary part was that earlier in the evening, the moment he started his croup cough, his dad took him to the Respiratory clinic in his suburb and they administered some pretty strong steroids and so on. The doctors there thought it would nip a big attack in the bud. They checked him out thoroughly. However, it wasn’t to be. If he hadn’t had those steroids, his situation could have been a lot worse. He is not allergic to anything and it has never happened during the day, but I understand what you mean. I think they are going to have to have an emergency treatment plan for him at school – the same for anaphylactics.
Yes, he is still a bit traumatised by what has happened to him. Harry was awake when all of this happened and when Lachlan was flailing around, Harry was rubbing his legs saying ‘ambulance’ in his own way. Even he recognised the seriousness of the situation.
Thank you for your kind thoughts.

kjh Avatar

This is probably the scariest thing I ever read here. Thank god he’s alright. One of the worst things is that it’s NOT over and you have to be medically vigilant forever. As Mariella asked, is there an epipen that covers this?

Genevieve Avatar

The really scary part is that he had the equivalent of an epipen treatment at the Respiratory clinic earlier on in the evening. If he hadn’t had that, it could have been a lot worse.
He use to have these very bad attacks when he was little, but hasn’t had one for many years, but you are right, his parents will have to be medically vigilant forever. They have a ton of scripts for him, so hopefully those will ease their worries.
Thankyou kjh.

Genevieve Avatar

Thankyou Celesta – it was terrifying because it all came out of the blue. In the afternoon he was fine, just started coughing and his dad took him straight away to the Respiratory clinic where they administered steroids, like in an epipen.
No-one imagined that he would turn for the worse.
He is still a bit traumatised and all the medication he’s had has effected him – he’s become more emotional and a bit difficult – so different to his normal, placid self.
There is no prevention of this – it’s a virus and you just have to treat it symptomatically.

Helene Avatar

Oh my! Poor Lachlan, his parents and all of you.
My son had croup once, it was terrifying even though it was quite mild and passed quickly. How lucky that the ambulance came quickly. I can’t even imagine the horror of seeing your child almost die in front of your eyes (or anywhere).
I hope he’ll out grow it, though a few has it as adults.
Anyway, I’ll send lots of positivity.

Genevieve Avatar

Thank you Helene. Where they live now is equi-distant between two hospitals. The one that he use to go to was judged by the ambulance drivers too far away, so he went to a new hospital for him, where they didn’t know his history. But they were great.
Anika said it was the longest wait for an ambulance ever and she wasn’t sure that they would make it in time. So frightening.

Zia Avatar

Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: I’ve been wearing Adept’s Inspired palette a lot this week!
Weekend plans: Celebrating a relative’s birthday and seeing my friends on Sunday.
Are you an introvert or an extrovert? I’m an ambivert. I score around 50 when I’ve taken tests for it.

Mariella Avatar

Recent purchases: nothing
Rediscoveries: Tarina Tarantino’s Emerald Pretty eyeshadow palette and the UD Game of Thrones eyeshadow palette (I hauled that one out yesterday and there are shades in there that are SO good and so perfect for my needs and I feel so sad that UD has taken such a nose-dive!)

Weekend plans: It’s Victoria Day weekend here so it’s a long weekend – yay! Sleeping in is big on my list but I want to hit the gym today and tomorrow (maybe Monday as well). I invited a friend for dinner tomorrow night. She a notoriously fussy eater so I’m going to the grocery store after the gym to get a few things she will like. Monday, we’re going to spend the day with daughter, son in law and grand-daughter (I saw them yesterday evening as daughter and I went to a “sip and shop” event at a kids’ new and used clothing/toys store near her city; I can’t get enough of that little baby! She’s such a little clown).

Are you and introvert or extrovert? I’m really an introvert who has had to learn to behave like an extrovert, partly because of my job. And I’ve found it easier and easier as I’ve got older and “practised”. Because of the nature of my job, I basically force myself to reach out to “newbies” at my job site to the point where it has become second nature. It really is the old “practice makes perfect” because it’s become easier for me in other social settings as well.

Ilene Avatar

Ilene, light skin, green eyes, med to dark brown hair
Recent purchases: I ordered several Kiko Milano items on Ulta and the True Botanicals glossy lip balm because it looks glossy
Rediscoveries: I don’t so much rediscover as I refind but nothing in that category this week
Weekend plans: This week, my daughter graduated with her master’s degree so caught up on sleep and laundry a bit. Tomorrow, I shall see my friend.
I read Genevieve’s post about her grandson and I was so upset to read what he, his parents and his grandparents went through. I hope and pray he will have no more episodes. What you described was truly scary.

Helene Avatar

Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: No purchases, no rediscoveries either. I’ve been bare faced most of the week,
Weekend plans: Gardening, other than that, nothing planned and I’ll probably do mostly nothing except watching a lot of shows on Netflix, HBO or Prime.

Are you an introvert or an extrovert? According to me and Myers Briggs I’m an introvert, though I can seem like an extrovert as I have forced myself to be able to talk to anyone, friends or strangers without seeming to uncomfortable. It tiers me a lot though so I need long rests after any activity that has me out among people.
Interesting how so many of us are introverts, I think.
I don’t recall the rest of the Myers Briggs letters unfortunately. I do know that I don’t thrive in jobs that have me working in groups and I did just that until I was hit with depression, anxiety and panic attacks.
( My son thinks I’m an extrovert just because I can have long talks with neighbors. He is also an introvert.)
