What moisturizer did you used to love but no longer does it for you?
I’m not as committed to skincare products over the long haul, so a lot of times it’s more a shift into something new but less so because the old one stopped working. I still quite enjoy Tatcha’s Indigo Cream, but it is pretty pricey, and I find that Dr. Jart+ Ceramidin is very effective for how my skin is now!
I used to adore the Clean & Clear Morning Burst Gel Moisturizer, back when I was ridiculously oily-skinned. It was so good! Now I need a little more hydration.
Two moisturizers that I used for a long time were Clinique Dramatically Different and Cetaphil. Then I got a sample of Clinique’s Moisture Surge about a year ago and loved it so much I bought a big jar, and I’ve been using it exclusively ever since. My skin is much happier with it.
I used to really like Clinique’s Daily Defense because it contained a decent level of SPF for “every day” needs and was a pleasant moisturizer but, hey-ho, big shocker – THEY DISCONTINUED IT! I also became disenchanted with Clarins Super Restorative Day Cream – just waaaay too expensive for basically a bog standard face cream.
I used to love Clinique Dramatically Different but now i used CeraVe and Paula’s Choice instead.
I used to use the Cerave cream in the tub but I have changed to Vanicream in the tub instead, and I like it so much more!
Oof. That’s a hard question as I’ve been using Drunk Elephant Protini Polypeptide, Hada Labo Triple Hyluronic Acid Gel Cream, or FAB’s Ultra Repair Cream for YEARS! I can hardly recall what I used before those three. Each of which serves a specific purpose depending on the time of year and the condition of my skin. I’m 64, but still have a very oily t-zone that is STILL prone to breakouts and blackheads! Almost no fine lines either, just those deep expression lines and the beginning of a little drooping.
Neutrogena Hydro Boost water gel. I cannot stand the feel of silicones on my skin any more. It makes me feel like a baking mat.
I used to use Clarins Multi Active Day cream religiously! These days I find I need something more hydrating. My current go-to is Baume 27.
christine, have you tried the indigo since it’s reformation? the color is a pale pink now and i’m wondering how much of the original actives remains.
i still really enjoy herbivore’s pink cloud but in winter i need to amplify it with a drop or two of oil
I LOVE that Tatcha Indigo cream too and I wish it wasn’t so pricey. Do you think the Dr Jart product is similar, Christine?
I wouldn’t say they’re similar or dupes, but the Dr. Jart is very hydrating and the Indigo Cream is more than I need most of the time!
Your skin does seriously change over time and now I need more heavy duty kind of moisturisers for both day and night time wear.
I used to use some of L’Oreal’s moisturisers and they were OK but then I started getting sensitive to some of their ingredients and moved on to better products – The Ordinary, The Inkey List, A’kin etc.
I used the Clinique Redness Solutions moisturizer for a long time but stopped after falling in love with the Kopari Whipped Ceramide cream last year. That said, the Etude House Soonjung 2X Barrier Repair cream is my holy grail when my skin is irritated and I always use the Embryollise Lait-Creme Concentre when wearing makeup.
