I’m trying to pan a sample lip gloss and use my spring colors, especially eyeshadows. I feel like I keep defaulting to my tried-and-true looks lately.
Not sure, but I think I need to get way better with my daytime skincare, including masks and lactic acid. My neglect is showing. More breakouts, blackheads, and just NOT cute.
Also, to dive deeper into my two new Oden’s Eye Eyeshadow palettes by Amanda and Lauren Mae. And makeup in general. Not today, though. Probably not for a good week. Clarissa, my nearly 16 year old Maine Coon mix, Scunci’s half sister, is being euthanized tonight at 6 pm @ Arrow Animal Hospital over here. Never realized just how MUCH I truly loved her until she became sick Saturday and downhill from there. My “silly little alien lifeform kitty” who LOVES the smell of Tiger Balm and tea tree oil, meowed at the light coming through the dining room window in our place in Scottsdale, ONLY enjoyed chasing the red laser dot, played with my hair (very irritating when one is trying to go to sleep, lol). She was truly unique and very special. Her ashes will be put in a cedar box under Scunci’s. Dayum. Today is just a CC cream/brows/lip balm day.
I’m very sorry for the loss of your kitty, Nancy.
Thank you, Tyra. It’s so strange for me , the way I’m reacting, or not reacting to her death. Kinda in a numbed out void place. Something that I realize could stop at any given moment. Perhaps losing 3 very beloved kitties who were all related by blood to one another inside of just 6 and a half years did a number on my heart 💔
I’m so sorry for your loss, Nancy. I think the numb part is how we protect ourselves, or think we are protecting ourselves when we experience trauma. But that means the grieving gets postponed and we get to revisit when we can cope better and start to process. I currently have three dogs, my youngest, Olive, just coming up to her first birthday, and I’ve decided in my head this is it. I’ve grieved the loss of so many animals, I no longer have the ability to bounce back from grief .. and I think it’s a cumulative thing. Be good to yourself. Sending hugs.
(((((((((((All the hugs))))))))). RIP Clarissa
All the hugs are so NEEDED! I’m so worried about Penelope, since she was so close to Clariss. They were a bonded pair. And, she’s been getting bullied by her HORRIBLE littermate, Cole. Wish I could trade him for a sweet, gentle female kitty so that Penelope could make a new friend. I’m beginning to think that neither she nor I will ever truly bond with him.
Oh Nancy, I’m so sorry to read about Clarissa.
There’s nothing I can say that will ease the pain of losing her.
I’m so, so sad for your loss.
Thank you, Helene. It’s been so weird around here without her. She was such a gentle soul, very goofy, and also so affectionate, especially towards Penelope, who is beside herself missing Clarissa.
Poor Penelope! It’s so hard for the pets when one of their friends disappear.
A year or so after my miniature Schanuzer had to be put to sleep after two weeks of intensive care, I happened to see s photo of him on the screen and said out loud: Look, Maserati! His older “brother” Stubbs came running, wanting to again meet his little kid brother. It was heartbreaking.
Oops! I should perhaps get a dog of an easier to spell breed.
It’s Schnauzer, of course. Silly me.
Aww! Poor Stubbs! They really DO mourn their other furiends. Clarissa mourned first over Pookie, her surrogate Meowmy, then over Scunci, her half brother…they had a VERY Targaryen relationship, IYKWIM!
And now it’s Penelope Pie-eyes losing her best, and actually only, furiend.
I am just going to try and use a wider variety of my makeup products – especially lipsticks and eyeshadow palettes, of which I have an abundance of.
My morning and evening skincare routines are pretty set and, thanks to my recent skincare purchases, I have enough products to see me through the year.
Soft but bright coral lipsticks!
Yes! I love this idea, what colors are you wearing?
Yes on fine tuning skincare and SPF routines Christine! belif cream moisturizers are playing very well with my usual PC antiox serum, Vit C drops, squalane oil and mineral SPF AM routine. Testing the belif aqua bomb SPF in place of Tizo AM Replenish and I really like it when it’s colder and drier. belif SPF is working well with makeup routine, it’s definitely a dewier finish than Tizo, but it plays well with makeup and a bit of powder. It’s nice to figure out choices when the weather is topsy turvy. 🙂
Ditto! I have really fallen off the skincare bandwagon since I moved. I get far more sun as there is zero shade on my lakeside and I’m always out puttering. So I’ve been leery about Vit A (evening) and Vit C (daytime) despite wearing strong sunscreen. I still get colour with sun protection and a hat on. Starting in January, I started building a new program and seeing good results (I’ve already added back Vit A.. big mistake to go off it at my age), but will have to be even more vigilant in terms of sun exposure. I am adding Vit C back as soon as my Yesstyle order comes in.
I would like to blame my lack of self care on my new digs and environment, but in reality I’ve been dealing with the aftermath of profound grief losing all the people and animals closest to me within a span of 4 years and then Covid. I believe it is common for women to get lax on self-care when there are other heavy things to cope with in life; like emotional overload puts appearance on the backburner. I stopped caring.
I’m sorry for your losses. I too stopped caring about skincare and makeup for several years after experiencing some heavy losses and trauma. I’m glad to hear that you are coming back into the light, so to speak 😊
Thank you, Tyra! Sometimes we need to put in the emotional and mental work to step into our next life chapter, right?. And I finally have my foot in the doorway 👍.
That’s so much to go through in such a short span of time. Sometimes all one’s energy just has to go to dealing and healing.
That’s exactly it, Rachel.. like there is not enough room on the inside to give a crap about the outside.
It takes time to get back from so much grief.
It seems like you live in a beautiful place. Nature can be very helpful wen we have a hard time coping with emotional overloads.
I’m glad you are slowly returning to caring for you.
Buckets of moisturizer on my hands and eyes because my body is having an eczema stress response in this trying time and cold weather. I’ve gotten it on my hands my whole live, but I still can’t believe I got a RASH on my EYELIDS out of nowhere. Even though the inflammation has gone down, the skin is still a little bit rough. Ridiculous.
Trying to get back to using eye cream every night. I’ve gotten lazy and skipped that step a lot lately so my dark circles are much more prominent.
Same for me with the skincare.
Makeup in general, I’ve been very lazy lately.
This is silly, but I picked a color theme based on March’s birthstone. I am trying to use my blue eye products and it’s been working. I am using UD Sabbath eyeliner, Shiseido Inkstroke Eyeliner in Kon-ai, Fenty Lady Lagoon eyeliner, Dior eyeshadow palette in Navy Design, MAC eyeshadow: In the Shadows, Tilt, Cobalt, Lunar, steamy.
I’m trying to finish a few too-faced lip glosses
