We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! Thank you for understanding!

I prefer gel, i am not very good with liquid eye liners.
Gel, definitely. My favorite is Illamasqua’s Infinity liner.
As someone who always uses pencil liners, I honestly don’t know the difference between gel and liquid (I have Nars Baalbek and a liner in a pot from Clinique…would those be gel? cream?). Can someone give me examples of each of the 2 forms so I can learn?
Gel liners usually come in pots, though there are gel pencils.
They are thicker than liquid liners, creamy, and very smooth. Examples of gel liners would be MAC Fluidline, Tarte Clay Pot, Lethal Cosmetics SIDE FX™ Gel Liner, NYX Mousse Liner, and Inglot AMC Eyeliner Gel.
Liquid liners come in a bottle with a thin brush in the cap, or in a pen form. Most brands offer some kind of liquid liner.
Thank you, friend. I guess I’ve only had gel liners (and have rarely used them to have to revive them with Inglot Duraline). I do have one “liquid” one (it’s from Stila, I think, and it’s a thin brush “pen”). I don’t use it much either. I guess I’m a lazy “pencil gal”.
Well, I really wish that Essence had not DC’d their gel pot liner in Midnight In Paris, because that was my all-time favorite winged liner. However, I have since found KVD Tattoo Liner in Trooper, which is about as close as I am going to get to my old HG aforementioned.
Gel: They offer more control, are easier to apply, and are available in more colors. Second favorite is a liquid eyeliner pen.
Definitely gel! I have trouble with liquid due to my crepe-y lids (gives me a bit more control) and I prefer gel on my waterline as well since it tends to last longer.
Definitely gel. I’m a disaster with liquid.
I don’t really use eyeliner as such – I tend to use my powder eyeshadows as an eyeliner with a thin brush. However, if I did I think I would use a gel eyeliner for the very same reasons as you Christine.
Ditto Geneviève! Due to the pulling and raccoon effect, eyeshadow works better for me.
Liquid! I find the pen-style brush tip liquid liners much easier.
THe Inglot gel liners are my fave. I wish Laura Mercier never discontinued their creme liners which were similar to gel LOVED those! Gel liners need a comeback.
With age, neither. I prefer using a dark eyeshadow to line my eyes. It stays on and isn’t harsh looking.
