Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: The fragrances I bought last week arrived — Profumum Roma Arso and Patchouly. Arso is so delightfully wintry! I can’t wait to see what it layers well with. I also bought the Lisa Eldridge eyeshadow palette I was missing along with some liquid eyeshadow shades as well.
Weekend plans: I’m debating whether I’ll wrap up gifts or not – we stopped wrapping gifts over the years, since it’s just a waste of paper, but I still have some wrapping paper so I’m considering using it rather than letting it sit there. We’ll probably go for a walk or two with Winston, maybe dare to have a meal with him in public, LOL.
What are you looking forward to in December? Christmas has always been my favorite holiday – I love the music, lights, and decor (I don’t celebrate it in any religious manner, call me Commercial Christmas), so we’ll start watching Christmas movies shortly! We also parted with our much-loved river table after several years and replaced it with a more basic (in many ways, felt like a “downgrade,” lol) extension dining table, but it worked so well for our multi-family gathering in November that it has made hosting my family and my husband’s family altogether for holidays a lot more enjoyable… so I am looking forward to everyone coming over for Christmas and NYE.
Psst… since it’s Friday and we’re heading into the weekend, if you have some downtime, consider playing one of the games hubby and I have created! 🙂 You’ll find all of our games on Awordy, but here’s a breakdown of what we have so far:
- Adoptle (guess the name of an adoptable pet in six guesses)
- Concludle (figure out the subject within six clues)
- Flipplant (figure out the plant using a mix of text- and image-based clues)
- Mislettered (guess one letter at a time to figure out the phrase/quote)
- Word Frenzy (find as many words from the letters available before the shark devours them)
This week's doggo photo/video...

Purchases: Nothing that has arrived yet except Volition Skin Rhythm Balancing and Clearing Serum and my moisturizer. I tried a different moisturizer but it made me break out so back to the old standby I go.
Rediscoveries: MAC Eyeshadow in Painterly + NABLA eyeliner In Cappuccino + Benefit They’re Real Mascara + a Red Lip (I am liking YSL Bold right now) makes a great look.
Weekend Plans: Getting ready for a trip to a nearby large city for a minor surgical procedure. Lots of watching my sugar and being anxious.
What I’m looking forward to in December: Christmas Eve candlelight service.
Good luck on the surgery. In 2022 we become seriously concerned about things we disregarded before Covid. You’ll do well!
It’s a minor procedure that I have had before. Mostly I worry about my glucose!
Good luck with the procedure Sarah!
Thank you! It should go well!
Best thoughts and wishes for your procedure, Sarah!
Thank you! My doc is great even if it is in a new building this time!
Best of luck with your surgery!
Thank you. It is a minor procedure that I have had before so I am mostly worried about a wildcat rail strike!
Best wishes for the surgery Sarah – I am sure it’s all going to be fine. And I hope your sugar levels are going to be good too. Watching your sugar levels is nerve wracking, so I hope everything will be fine.
Thank you! I have stopped my monitoring my glucose bc last time it just raised my glucose. I am going with the ignorance is bliss approach this time around! (My A1C is 6.6 so I don’t have too much to worry about. Just the usual butterflies!)
Sarah, I was going to say that the constant monitoring of your glucose levels would likely cause them to rise (due to stress and worry), but I refrained from saying that. I think 6.6 will be OK – not that I am a doctor or anything like that.
Best wishes anyway.
OMG, all those adorable puppies, including Winston! We also stopped wrapping gifts and just reuse gift bags now. But we inherited a bunch of gift wrap when a relative passed away a few months ago, so we might as well use those up.
Recent Purchases: I almost bought the ND Glam palette several times over the past year, but decided not to each time because I rarely used shimmer eyeshadows. This week, I finally gave in and bought it because I’ve been getting more into shimmers lately…and after using it for the past several days I’ve determined that it is the most perfect neutral palette in my whole collection! (I just wish the shades had better names.) Also bought a couple of Benefit Precisely My Brow pencils since they were on sale for 50% off and they are pencils I use on a regular basis.
Weekend plans: Working on a new playlist for those times when my husband and I are in the car together. He and I have (mostly) different tastes in music, so when I make drive mixes, we each pick a set amount of songs and then I put them into an every-other-song mix. Also, we have a party to go to on Saturday night, then I’ll be relaxing for the rest of the weekend.
What are you looking forward to in December? Seeing the holiday decorations in Disney World in a couple weeks!
You will LOVE Glam Seraphine, quite a few of the shimmer shades are very subtle – not as vibrant or metallic as Sydney Grace’s. It will complement all your many matte palettes in neutral shades too. I use mine all the time, either alone or with other palettes.
Yes, the name thingy is something that I think Natasha regrets and has never, ever done it again. I take no notice of her ‘suggestions’. It is annoying I agree.
Enjoy the party too.
Thanks, Genevieve. The worst part about those names is that she put the same name on several shades, so if I want to take notes to remember a particular combination, I have to specify it, like “second shade from left, bottom row.”
Such a SWEET video of Winnie and oodles of puppies! Too bad that I don’t still live over that way, or I’d be wanting to hitch a ride and play with puppies, too! 💗🐕🐕🐕💗
Purchases/rediscoveries: Just placed my order for Sephora’s 20% sale. Didn’t do nearly as much as I may have done usually. Just ND I Need A Nude Lipstick in Noa, MUFE Artist Pencil in Wherever Walnut, and The Ordinary Ascorbyl Tetraispalmitate (sp?) w/ Vitamin F Solution. Was strongly considering getting Dior Tutu quad or PML Mothership X Moonlight Seduction, but realized that I already HAVE those shades here!
Weekend plans: Getting my Remicade infusion today, provided that MTBA gets the dropoff and pickup addresses correct this time! Been having so many issues with them lately. Geesh! Then, also on Saturday morning we have our Zoom Assembly at 10 a.m. Also, still on standby for my daughter, who is still sick with Covid along with her son of 19 months old.
What are you looking forward to in December? Cooler weather! Hopefully, RAIN! Wearing sweaters and leggings! Hot mocha and cocoa! Yummy baked goods!
Best wishes that your Remicade infusion goes alright today without any hassles. I hope the MTBA get all their ducks in a row and get the address right for you. People’s lives depend on this service.
Sad to read that your daughter is still very ill with COVID and I wish her and her family all my very best for a speedier recovery. It is a shocking illness. But the hard part is knowing that little bubba is not well either and you would walk on coals for your children/grandchildren.
Thankfully, they got the two addresses correct this time, Genevieve! And so I was able to get to Downtown Phoenix for my infusion with the *only* issue being that I got there later than scheduled. Our medical transportation for those of us who don’t drive now and those who never have, as well, is lacking in so many ways.
And you are so very right when you say that we would walk over hot coals for our kids and grandkids! Instead of buying a bunch of makeup this month, I actually ordered a true winter parka for myself just in case I have to travel there to where they are.
Recent Purchases: Christmas shopping is in full gear, so some things, lol.
Rediscoveries: I dusted off my ND Safari palette for the first time in quite a while and still love it so much. That was my go-to matte palette for a long time.
Weekend plans: Probably wrapping Christmas gifts and tomorrow night we are going to see a drive-thru Christmas lights display our fairgrounds put up every year.
What are you looking forward to in December? I love seeing Christmas lights with my family and watching Christmas movies… my son is five now and he is really into all the Christmas things this year — that makes it extra magical, too.
Your little boy is five? Where has the time gone Celesta? He would absolutely love all the Christmas lights and be right into all activities to do with this season.
When I was at my son and DIL’s place last night, Harry was still up and he proudly showed me their Christmas tree with the lights and the 4 decorations that he put up. Such a sweetie.
On another matter, one time on Instagram when I was looking at your favourite looks for the week, I spotted you wearing a beautiful lipstick – it was a Flower Beauty one and I think you said one of your favourites was Autumn Rose – do you have that one? Because I always get my DIL a big bag of makeup/skincare goodies for Christmas and I was hoping to get this lipstick for her as it would suit her so well.
Enjoy your weekend.
Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: I just picked up Fenty Skin Watch Ya Tone 5% Niacinamide Dark Spot Serum and the Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb Heat in Fu$$y using the Sephora gift-giving promotion.
Weekend plans: I will be watching the USA World Cup game and the England World Cup game on Sunday! I also hope to finish a book I’ve been working on for a while and do some mentorship stuff (resume review). One of my friends is also trying to talk me into watching a performance by DJ Kim Lee, who was on Bling Empire. It sounds fun but I might be exhausted!
What are you looking forward to in December? The prompt about Christmas movies made me remember that I haven’t caught up on Doctor Who, which is a sort of wintery Christmastime show! I look forward to kicking back and watching some feel-good goofy sci-fi this month 🙂 I also will be closing on my house, which will be awesome because this month has been a tremendous amount of pressure getting through all those hurdles and keeping up at work. Easily the best Christmas gift to myself ever, lol.
Wow – a new home for Christmas – how absolutely exciting for you Kira – and how nerve wracking in equal measures too.
I hope you get all your paperwork and contracts through in time without many (or preferably no) hassles.
You are a talented person to be not only finishing a book, but mentoring others as well. Best wishes for the weekend.
What a sweetheart Winnie is!
Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: The skin care I ordered thanks to Cyber Monday arrived today, which I’m quite excited about. I’m not sure if I’m going to buy more makeup this year; I feel content with my stash at the moment. I swatched and paired a bunch of palettes with blush and lipstick this week, so I’m excited to wear some new combinations!
Weekend Plans: Nothing too strenuous. Laundry needs to happen, and Book club this month is early Sunday morning, so I’ll have to be up and on the road at 7:30 am.
What are you looking forward to in December? Well, our house had to be repiped due to flooding, so we are currently waiting on the new downstairs flooring and painting to be finished. I can not wait to decorate for the holidays, but had to settle for pulling out the Christmas candles for my bathroom and vanity. They should be done next week, and then the season can properly commence! I am going to enjoy having all my kids home; they are growing up and taking on new commitments, and while I adore the adults they are becoming, there is also the bittersweet knowledge that some Christmases in the future we will not be able to spend together. I just want to create as many memories with them as I still can.
I am pretty sure Brandi that your adult children will always want to be around you at this time of year, even though their jobs may well take them to far flung places.
I hope the repiping has been finished to your satisfaction and the new flooring and paint work will make your downstairs area look new and beautiful.
Best wishes for your weekend.
Your Christmas tree is beautiful Christine, are the little pups interested in the decorations (to chew?) They have grown so much, thanks to their loving home. We haven’t put our tree up yet, but my son and his family have and little Harry was so thrilled to show me the lights the other day when I was at their place.
I hope your arm and back are getting better.
Recent Purchases: Just Christmas presents for the family, more items for my DIL’s Skincare and Makeup bag (mascara, lipstick, foundation).
Rediscoveries: Still using a lot of PMG’s Bronze Bliss with just about every other palette I own.
Weekend Plans: Friday was spent doing some shopping and visiting my son and his family’s place to bring over some Christmas crafts for the older children to do, plus some new beach towels as they are partaking in the school’s swimming lessons.
Today (Saturday) we are going to my eldest cousin’s home to celebrate a ‘cousins’ Christmas with my family. It will be great to catch up with everybody and see how they are going. I am busily preparing the ribbon sandwiches to take along.
Sunday will be about finding our Christmas tree, which is in storage and setting it up with my son and his family.
Looking forward to in December: Christmas! Having lots of little ones around makes it really special. I am just hoping that it’s not going to be a very hot day on Christmas Day.
We put it up after they left for that very reason, lol! I am sure they would have gone after it. Thankfully, Winnie is pretty disinterested in it!
Wise move Christine re the Christmas tree and some doggies will love the decorations and some won’t – lucky for you that Winnie leaves them alone because they look beautiful.
Christine, when I was growing up, my very first kitty, who we got as an actual 8 week old kitten, LOVED to climb up the tree or knock off an ornament here or there. Good thing you waited. Because baby (or very young, mischievous) animals can wreak havoc!
Recent Purchases: So much Black Friday / Cyber Monday stuff!!!!!!!
Weekend plans: Helping my sibling move. And BBQ out on the grill tomorrow!
What are you looking forward to in December? Creating positive memories with family.
RECENT PURCHASES:
*Cosmic Brushes Serenity Pallette. Absolutely stunning!
*TheBalm Fun Guy Palette (fantastic), Anne T. Dote Eyeshadow Primer (their “clean” formula replacing Put a Lid On It Eyelid Primer; too oily and runny for me); GWP Staniac lip and cheek tint, and mini liquid lipstick trio.
WEEKEND PLANS:
Putting up the Christmas tree.
WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING FORWARD TO IN DECEMBER?
Decorating for Christmas. Having Christmas with the family.
The Balm always had great palettes and it’s good to read from you that the standard is still the same.
We are going to be putting up the Christmas Tree this Wednesday, when we have all the kids over for dinner. But first we have to find it in our storage unit. We probably can easily because it is in a large box – as for the Christmas decorations – that’s going to be harder. I might have to buy some more.
Good luck finding your decorations!
I’m hoping having our tree out will help cheer up and settle our cat, Spike. He adores the tree and will sleep under it. He’s confused about the boys moving out, and is acting out. The boys left worn T-shirts for the kitties to sleep with, and we’re giving them extra attention and cuddles. And catnip! Spike is just older and more high-strung than Jack. Jack sleeps on his T-shirt. Spike looked us in the eyes and deliberately peed on his. He holds a grudge! lol
Recent Purchases: My hair protecting spray was on it’s last leg, so I made a quick Sephora order fur the Bumble&Bumble Invisible Oil and the `Caked Up` candles from FORVR Mood somehow got in there as well. 😀
Weekend plans: Finding active activities that avoid the heavy rainy weekend.
What are you looking forward to in December? Since I’m not celebrating things in general I mostly look forward towards more low key days at work, with less meetings and actual time to work on more technical stuff.
