What's your favorite type of fragrance to wear in the winter?
I just bought a full bottle of Profumum Arso because it totally gives me cold winter vibes — crisp, resinous, pine, and a bit of leather/incense to add dimension. It’s very winter to me! I also love anything with fall spices in it around this time (fall/winter kind of run together in AZ – like there are definitely markers between the two, but it’s just like “colder” overall) – a little cinnamon, clove, etc.
angel by mugler, or chanel mademoiselle. best for winter
Comme des Garcons Monocle Hinoki. I love wood scents!
Cypress? Hinoki (bush) is gorgeous.
The same type I like to wear year round… a sweet gourmand… vanilla, caramel, almond, coconut, coffee… maybe a touch of fruitiness from pear or floral from fraesia.
Dark and warm spicy, or chocolate based (but not super sweet and gourmand).
Something that’s a bit spicy, a bit vanilla/caramel/boozy gourmand, but with a hint of muskiness or incense to it? I’m no expert on notes, but my favorite wintertime (AZ ‘s idea of winter, anyway!) are: Tom Ford Black Orchid, YSL Black Opium Nuit Blanche, and I’m surprised that there’s any left, but also Avon x Christian LaCroix Absynthe.
For a winter perfume, I like something quite spicey – YSL Opium, EL’s Youth Dew and my all year round favourite – Clinique’s Aronmatics Elixir.
Iโm in Chandler AZ! I like replica by the fireside and fresh cream warm cashmere for this time of year ๐งก
I tried out samples of Profumum Roma after reading one of your reviews. I ended up buying two bottles, I loved them so much! GREAT recommendations!
Ooh, which two?
I think they were ones you found too sweet, but I love them!! Acqua e Zucchero and Vanitas.
Terre dโHermes. Or anything vetiver. Or Creed Vetiver or Himalaya. Not much for sweets or gourmands.
Generally something more woody, or vanilla, or gourmand. So far this year Iโve been enjoying Replica Autumn Vibes and By the Fireplace, Ellis Brooklyn Apres, Dior Addict, Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille and Vanille Fatale, Serge Lutens Un Bois Vanille, to name a few ๐๐
I definitely prefer something more woody. My favorite for several years has been Elizabeth and James Nirvana Black. I hate it was d’cd. Christine have you come across anything similar (that you recall) in your fragrance testing?
I love gourmande scents the most, always, but I like spicier versions in the winter.
