Rose Inc Satin Plum/Lavender Shimmer Satin & Shimmer Duet Eyeshadow Review & Swatches
Satin Plum/Lavender Shimmer
Rose Inc Satin Plum/Lavender Shimmer Satin & Shimmer Duet Eyeshadow ($30.00 for 0.1 oz.) includes a sparkling, very light lavender powder eyeshadow and a darker plum cream eyeshadow. In my experience, neither worked well individually; I had to layer the sparkly powder over the cream eyeshadow to get decent wear out of both, even though they are marketed as being standalone products (as well as to be layered together).

Lavender Shimmer
Lavender Shimmer seemed to have a more translucent base with lots of silvery-lavender and copper flecks of sparkle.
- Sheer coverage (not “pigment-rich”)
- Drier, flaky texture, prone to fallout
- Best applied over a tacky base (or coordinated cream eyeshadow)
- Short-wearing (5 hours with fallout)

Formula Overview

The powder eyeshadow can be "worn alone or pressed on top of the cream base" for "diffused illumination." The brand described as "pigment-rich" as well, so that's obviously a bit confusing. I would describe these as "topper" eyeshadows as they were heavy on the sparkle and light on the base color, which made them more translucent and perfect for patting on top of the coordinated cream eyeshadow formula but were less functional on their own.
The texture was more loosely-pressed, drier, and definitely fragile (one of mine arrived broken and seemed like it had a lack of binder, as it crumbled easily from there). There was a moderate amount of fallout during application with fingertips or a dry brush when applied to bare skin, and it was most functional when applied over a tacky base.
On their own, the formula lasted between five and six hours on me and had moderate fallout over time.

Formula Overview
-
The cream formula is supposed to be "buildable" and yield a "sheer wash" or layered for "more saturated color." The brand described as "pigment-rich" as well, so that's obviously a bit confusing. The texture was emollient, lightly tacky, and spreadable, and it didn't have a full dry down for me, which made it more prone to settling into fine lines.
On me, I had the best luck using it as a wash of color rather than layered, as the more I applied, the more likely it was to crease very quickly. With a sheerer layer, it creased within five hours on me.
When sold as a duo, this formula is coordinated by a sparkly powder eyeshadow, which applied well over the cream product to enhance the overall longevity and minimize creasing to more of a six to seven hour range, but neither product functioned well individually for me.

I’m glad it wasn’t just me. I’ve loved the skin products I’ve tried in this line, but this shadow was awful. I’m having some luck with the darker color – provided I use eyeshadow base and ONLY apply it with the special dual-ended brush that Rose Inc. sells. But yeah…not cool. Only purchase I regret this year and I should have waited for your review!
Aww! I am relieved that I’m not alone but sad you had to spend money and find out for yourself!
I really love the cream cheek colors and lipsticks from the range that I’ve tried, so I had high hopes here!
Oh no! I also got a broken shimmer shade and thought the satin shade by itself was okay. Had to really dig in with a dense brush to make it work. I guess I won’t be picking up another color…I was really looking into that copper duo. I’ll wait for your review nonetheless!
Looks like rubbish. Definitely not something I would waste coin on, that’s for sure.
The first shade looks like it *shrank* after being placed in the pan. Their formula obviously needs work.
I got one of her lip crayons in a sampler set (Sephora?), and it accentuated every line imaginable on my lips and around my lips. It was a total fail, like this eyeshadow duo. Has anyone used anything good from this line! Genuinely curious.
Oh no! I love the brands cream blushes! The lipsticks are nice, too, but I feel like a good lipstick isn’t hard to find.
Thanks for the info. My 50 year old skin is obsessed with cream blushes right now. I also enjoy trying out new lines too.
OMG – what a disaster! It could have been a really pretty duo, but the formula has turned out to be a mess.
I would try it but that packaging makes me think of the loo every single time.
Did no one tell her?
