Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: The LA Girl and Maybelline eyeliners arrived earlier this week! I’m expecting my Pat McGrath holiday palette today.

Weekend plans: Not too much! I’m volunteering in the morning at a local animal rescue to see some pups off before they become adoptable. My in-laws will be over on Sunday to celebrate my birthday (earlier this week).

What’s your best way to motivate yourself to do a task you don’t want to do? I usually complain about it to someone and then feel bad for complaining, so then I’ll do it because it’s so “first world” of a complaint.

P.P.S. — I worked with hubby to develop our own games! You can check out the games we have at Awordy, which include Concludle (trivia) and Adoptle (figure out the name of an adoptable pet in six guesses), and Mislettered (figure out the quote by guessing letters).

Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: I am waiting on some eyebrow pencils right now. I got the Kaleidos Lip Clay bundle I ordered a few weeks ago this week, and so far I am really impressed. I actually have yet to try something from Kaleidos that I don’t like. I think we are ordering a coffee table for our new apartment today, and I am actually really excited about that !

Weekend plans: Resting, unpacking, maybe going to the farmer’s market . We just moved and i don’t know anyone here, so it is kinda awkward to be a new townie in a tourist town. I am also reading a very good and personally important book about chronic illness, so I hope to get through more of that this weekend as well.

What’s your best way to motivate yourself to do a task you don’t want to do? I think about how disappointed my husband would be, and I don’t want to disappoint him, so I make myself do it.

Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: Bought Rare Beauty Bold Matte Lipstick yesterday. I used the Victoria Beckham Red liner with it. Looks great! Perfect amount of red and brown.
Weekend plans: Going to see some friends for dinner, weather permitting.
What’s your best way to motivate yourself to do a task you don’t want to do? Procrastinate and then break out the task into smaller less odious tasks.

I hope Winston feels better soon. And you, too, Christine!

Recent purchases: Give Me Glow eyeshadows in Grunge Lavender, Cruel Intentions, Beach Bum, and Mushroom, plus a magnetic quad palette to put them in. Today I took advantage of the Clinique sale/gift event at Macy’s and bought some products I needed: Moisture Surge, All About Eyes, and 7-Day Scrub Cream. The free gifts I got include trial sizes of Smart Clinical Repair, All About Eyes, Dramatically Different Lotion, All About Clean, High Impact Mascara, and Quickliner (black); plus a full size lipstick in Love Pop and a 16.5-oz bottle of Clarifying Lotion. Also, two pretty zippered pouches (large and small) and a big pink tote bag.

Weekend plans: Going out to dinner with friends, visiting family, resting from my never-ending stressful weeks at work.

What’s your best way to motivate yourself to do a task you don’t want to do? I really don’t know. I just force myself somehow. Lol

Recent Purchases: I did purchase the Gourmande Girls x Doodles By The Bunny Spooked palette; i’m excited for that one to arrive.

Rediscoveries: I have a few palettes that are on the chopping block that i’m planning to use and see if I want to keep them in my collection. Life is too short to wear makeup you don’t completely love.

Weekend plans: Going to Kings Island with my family tomorrow for fall festivities, which I’m excited about. Last year, my son rode his first little rollercoaster and I’m hoping he’s in the mood tomorrow to go on a couple more with me this time around.

What’s your best way to motivate yourself to do a task you don’t want to do? Its very rare that I don’t have motivation to do the tasks that I don’t want to do… I know that getting it over with will free up my mental space and my time, so that is motivation enough for me.

Recent purchases: I found a jar (there were 4 or 5 but I only grabbed 1) of Egyptian Magic cream. I’ve got 2 jars – a large one and a small one – that I got at Costco years ago but they never smelled very good, even when new and their aroma hasn’t improved with age but I still use them especially in cold weather but figured I’d get this new one at a typically low Winner’s price. Guess what – no smell. REDISCOVERIES: Chanel Ebloui Illusion d’Ombre shadow. I “revivified” it with a few drops of Inglot Duraline. It’s not great but it’s usable. Also the Huda Beauty Jaguar palette – so perfect for this time of year.

Weekend plans: daughter, son in law and grand-daughter are coming for brunch on Sunday. Tomorrow, it’s the gym and then baking 2 different types of muffins (lemon blueberry and apple pie muffins) for Sunday’s brunch and getting the house tidied up…

How do I motivate myself to do a task I don’t want to do? A bribe usually works – I promise myself a reward – it can be as simple as flat white coffee from my favourite coffee place or if the task is a big one, something I want from Sephora or an article of clothing. Bribes (I guess they’re “self-bribes”) really work!

Yeah, that really WAS quite the wild ride for both you and Winnie. Puppies, broken wrist and Winnie hurting himself wasn’t the best summer one would have wanted to have all these things happening at one time. Glad that Winnie and you are getting better, though!

Purchases: After watching multiple trusted YT’ers, I just ordered the ABH Rose Metals palette. It just felt sooo cozy, autumnal and moody looking at its swatches, tutorials and reviews! Also ordered more Drunk Elephant Protein Peptide Cream. Might be placing another order later today for either one UD Lip Bond or two Revlon Colorstay lipsticks…🤔
Rediscoveries: Because I really didn’t get out much this past summer during daylight, I went to mixing my wintertime foundation, Fenty Profilt’r Hydrating Foundation in 260 with MAC Pro Longwear Nourishing Waterproof foundation in NW35 for a perfect match. I’m falling out of love with the NW30 shade, as it does a weird oxidation thing and goes too orangey for me. Also rediscovered MAC Sand Tropez Foiled Shadow the other day along with Cocktail Black, Glamour Lights and Twinks eyeshadows for a more subdued, yet beautiful eye look.

Weekend plans: Zoom meeting tomorrow, probably grocery shopping later today? Not sure yet, as my Crohn’s has been flaring up this whole week.

What’s your best way to motivate yourself to do a task you don’t want to do?Unadulterated, raw FEAR. Like, utterly being in a state of panic that if I don’t get X and Y done and out of the way, Z will follow and it won’t end well! 😱

Happy belated birthday!🥳🧁 I hope Winnie’s leg feels better soon. ❤️

💄RECENT PURCHASES:
Tarte Precious Gems Amazonian Clay Cheek Palette; UD Naked Foxy Mini Palette.

💄WEEKEND PLANS:
Paperwork for my job; paying bills; helping my son’s friend with his resumè.

💄WHAT’S YOUR BEST WAY TO MOTIVATE YOURSELF TO DO A TASK YOU DON’T WANT TO DO?
I’m usually pretty internally motivated. Stuff just needs to get done around here. If I’m stuck, talking to my husband usually helps. If it’s something that I can do with music playing loudly in the background, that always makes the task more enjoyable!

What a cozy photo!
Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: Just waiting patiently for a few orders from indie brands. I think it will be a few weeks before I get anything.
Weekend plans: Nothing. I have been feeling sick lately.
What’s your best way to motivate yourself to do a task you don’t want to do? I suppose just reasoning with myself about how my anxiety will go down about it once I’m completing it and that I’ll feel better once it’s done.

Oh my goodness Christine and Shaun – you have had a really busy morning already. It’s good news that Winnie is OK and just has a sprain and will probably be sore for a little while. I hope the MRI will show that your wrist is improving/healing.
Happy Birthday to you as well and I hope you have a lovely time with your parents. Volunteering at the local animal shelter must be so rewarding and I hope the pups get adopted to families that will love and care for them.

Recent Purchases: I am starting my Christmas shopping early this year and have managed to purchase some sports toys and items for our grandchildren, but no makeup.
Rediscoveries: Still using lots of the On the Horizons palette and the Lorac Fairytale Forest palette.

Weekend Plans: On Saturday I, with my youngest son Nicholas and his wife Anika, are taking the kids to the Royal Melbourne Show – which was closed for two years because of the pandemic. There are lots of rides, showbags, pavillions, art displays and animals to see. Luckily the day has dawned bright and sunny, but not too hot, so it should be a fabulous day.
Sunday I shall be recovering, I think!

The best way to motivate yourself on a task you don’t want to do: I just get on with it. I tell myself that it will only probaly take a hour or so (like vacuuming) and it will feel better once it is done. I also break up challenges to more manageable bits too.

Genevieve, a dear friend of mine left for a MONTH in Australia yesterday!!! I never knew she had cousins there but she’s staying with 2 of them for some of the time and then also doing some travelling on her own and with her adult son (who will be joining her for 2 weeks of the 4 she’ll be there). All I could think was “if was me, I’d get to meet up with Genevieve”. I think she’s spending some of the time in the north (she mentioned Cairns, where I think she’s got one group of family), where it’s already pretty hot…

No new purchases. I did get the pleasure of pulling out my tube of Bite Gazpacho and Nars Gaiety blush for updated badge photos. I rarely get to wear lipstick or blush (and I was always a lipstick and minimal eye makeup person) because I’m in a surgical mask most hrs of the week b/c of my profession. No w/e plans, I’m in Raleigh NC and riding out our hurricane. We’re under mandatory lock down for floods. Got w/e stuff done early this week including a round of golf. I’m not usually a procrastinator, even if I don’t like doing it. I’d rather do it and have it behind me.

Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: Nothing new this week.

Weekend plans: I’m also trying to keep it low, it was a crazy week and work, especially since I had to take a couple of hours off on Friday for a dental appointment. I loved going to the Opera last Sunday, so this week I want to go to the opening of symphonic concert season. I want to do some cleanout, prepare some old clothes either for recycling or donating.

What’s your best way to motivate yourself to do a task you don’t want to do? If I need to do it, I do it, for me it doesn’t matter if I like it or not (off course, I’m excluding morally and legally wrong things 😆 ). I grew up in post-communist Eastern Europe, with limited financial resources… `motivation` was for `spoiled` people that afford to slack (not a bad things, but it was a luxury that me at school or my mother at work couldn’t afford for example). Homework, chores, tasks at works, workouts, helping others (if I promised), staying still during dental surgery of when giving blood… I complain if needed, but I do it, no need for any other motivation.
Again… I don’t imply that people needing motivation is something negative… just that I don’t need motivation myself… or maybe the best way the re-phrase is that I am very self-motivated.

Recent Purchases: ABH Soft Glam Mini which serves my needs perfectly, Bobbi Brown Crushed Lip Color in Italian Rose which makes a nice nude lip and YSL Bold 01 which is a great red that leans just a little orange. The finish on the YSL lipstick is fantastic and it is so comfortable to wear.

Weekend Plans: Finally have a washer/dryer (it’s a long story) and I am doing laundry!!!!

Procrastinating Avoidance: I do things days or weeks ahead of time so they don’t make me anxious and I won’t procrastinate on them.
