Does your makeup routine change from summer to fall?

I definitely think I’d reach for moodier colors if it was just me doing my makeup, but I wear whatever is being released, so what tends to be “on trend” at the moment.

I tend to wear more neutral, spare eye looks when it’s really hot out, as I have hooded eyes and really oily lids. Add sweat and allergy eyes, and anything else gets ruined. In the fall, I very happily go back to more complex and colorful eye looks.

I also wear lipglosses and liquid lipsticks more in summer, because they won’t melt in my purse. In fall, I’ll typically wear bullet lipsticks more often.

You better believe it! Out come palettes like Chanel Tisse d’automne and Lumiere et Opulence, MAC’s Posh Pedigree and Dior’s Bonne Etoile along with a lot of other smokier, darker, murkier palettes and singles. And I sometimes even stray from my beloved MAC Craving lipstick into more red or deep tones (Smashbox Red Rage, UD Love Drunk or Mrs. Mia Wallace). And it’s when I break out my little VIB Rouge mini of Goulue blush from NARS.

Oh yeah, I actually start wearing it. Summers are so humid here, makeup slides off in a hot minute. Maybe I’ll do a tinted SPF and tinted lip balm. Maybe. If it’s an event—an evening event That’s aside from the fact that summer colors look awful on me.

When the dewpoint gets sane, I relearn how to wear makeup again, and let the silver, purples and taupes come out to play.

The colours and shades I use for autumn, for both eyes and lips, are quite different from the ones I use for summer. In summer I tend to go for greens and teals, with gold and rose gold shades for eyes and often ginger, orange red shades for lipsticks. Whereas in autumn, I opt for olive greens, golds and neutral shades – sometimes plum and burgundy colours too for eyes. For lipsticks I will wear spicey and burgundy shades. A good red lipstick I wear all year round.
