Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: NARS lipsticks
Weekend plans: We’ll go to the bakery on Saturday morning, but otherwise, keep it pretty relaxed at home! I’ll probably pop over to my parents’ on Monday for some barbecue.
Who is your favorite artist? Agnes Cecile, who does a lot of watercolor work!
P.S. — Want to chat with readers on the regular? Check out Temptalia’s Discord where you can chat about beauty, makeup, and more! 🙂
P.P.S. — Check our hubby’s site for video gaming guides — good if you (or someone you know or your kids!) is into gaming, including crosswords and Wordle.
Plus, I worked with hubby to develop our own games! You can check out the games we have at Awordy, which include Concludle (trivia) and Adoptle (figure out the name of an adoptable pet in six guesses), and Mislettered (figure out the quote by guessing letters).
This week's doggo photo/video...

Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: I am not patiently awaiting the Clinodah mystery bundle I purchased. Otherwise low-buy remains in place. My skin has been a little on the dry and upset side lately, so I have rediscovered L’Occitane’s immortelle moisturizer in the blue jar.
Weekend plans: Cleaning, making banana bread when it isn’t hot, maybe going to the Farmer’s market.
Who is your favorite artist? I have a lot for visual art. Erte, Florine Stettheimer, Hima af Klimt; Yayoi Kusama; Kendra Dandy and So Lazlo for modern. I also collect and occasionally blog about vintage (golden age mostly) sci-fi and fantasy paperback book covers, so I enjoy quite a lot of artists who worked in book art, namely Joseph Mungnaini and Ian Miller. This intersects with my love of vintage or antique fairy tale illustrative artists like Kay Nielsen, Mary Blair, John Bauer, Dulac, etc. I think one of the most incredible things about being alive at this time and place is that there are so many amazing artists to discover.
Love Mary Blair! Have you seen the John Bauer and Edmund Dulac tarot decks?
Yes! I think they’ve been on my wishlist for a while now but I have never actually picked them up.
I have used The Ordinary’s Argon Oil when I have had dry skin. Not only is it inexpensive, but it works a treat.
I use their squalene, I just mix it with my moisturize to amp it up.
Recent purchases – I seriously scored AGAIN at Winners – a bottle of Algenist Advanced Anti-Aging Repairing Oil which I love and which is still being sold at Sephora for $110 – for $24 (it was in the clearance section so was marked down a few dollars more than its original marked down price). I also picked up another bottle of Crabtree and Evelyn Rose Body Wash to give to a friend for her birthday.
Weekend plans: gym tomorrow and maybe a quick bit of shopping; visiting grand-daughter (and her parents) and then going to an engagement party for my favourite niece!
Favourite artist: I don’t know that I have one. Raoul Dufy comes to mind but that’s largely for sentiment reasons.
Lucky you snaring a bottle of Agenist’s Repairing Oil for $24 – what a bargain!
Have a lovely visit with your granddaughter Mariella, she must be the apple of your eye. Is she starting to smile yet?
And how lovely that your favourite niece is getting married and having an engagement party to celebrate. Enjoy your weekend.
So adorable when they’re snoozing! My old girl Clarissa is lying next to me, not sleeping, but I think she wants to 😼
Purchases/rediscoveries: Just placed an order for Maybelline Vinyl Ink in Capricious and L’Oreal Lash Paradise Waterproof Mascara in Blackest Black. The mascara because as much as I love the effects of Heroine Can Make Long and Curl Super Waterproof Mascara, it’s a pain in the butt to remove, and sometimes I just want something easier to remove at night.
I may also be attempting to order several Clionadh e/s’s if the shades I want are even still available.
Weekend plans: Get to Sally’s to purchase my hair dye and everything else I need in order to get my hair looking good again! Also, I will be trying to get over to Supercuts to get a shag bob cut, too. I am so sick of my bra strap length heavy hair that has to go up in either a high ponytail or bun. Just boring!
Favorite artist? Hmm… Salvador Dali, Pablo Picasso or Vincent Van Gogh fit the bill, but I’m sure that there’s some more present time artists that I would also enjoy. Saddest part is, my biological mother is the conservator of the arts for South Hampton, NY, and I have never even had an opportunity to get over there to get a feel for what’s current and up to date!
Now, if we’re talking about all the arts, music is much more of an interest of mine! In fact, I’m gearing up for and getting myself together to attend a Duran Duran concert live in Phoenix on Thursday with one of my closest friends and her husband! So exciting!!! 🎶🎵🎶
I hope your haircut ends up being just the way you want it Nancy — it always makes you feel good to have your hair done.
A Duran Duran concert! How fantastic for you. Have a great time.
Thank you, Genevieve! Now it’s just a matter of getting to the haircut place, and I’m dying my roots today before I go there. Otherwise, they’ll see the TONS of silver white hair and give me some outdated something or other, I fear!
As for the Duran Duran Concert, I am SO very excited to be going to it and with our very own Rachel R! I believe that we will have a fantastic time Thursday night!
Wednesday, not Thursday! I’m all mixed up with my days, 😂
Recent purchases: Benefit Gimme Brow Volumizing Pencil in Grey, Sephora 12HR Colorful Contour Eye Pencil in Coconut (for bottom waterline), and Make Up For Ever Aqua Resist Color Pencil in Graphite (for tightlining upper lash line). Plus, I got my birthday gift from Sephora: Mini Caviar Stick in Strapless, and mini version of Laura Mercier Translucent Setting Powder (perfect for travel and I can keep refilling it).
Rediscoveries: My old, unused ColourPop palettes. I’m scrounging through them for shades I like (see “Weekend Plans”).
Weekend plans: Doing surgery on my ColourPop That’s Taupe palette. I’m going to replace the four shimmers with matte shades I like from my ColourPop palettes that I never use.
Who is your favorite artist? I love so many…Van Gogh, Rossetti, Dali, Pollock, Chagall, Picasso, Klimt, Kahlo, et al. There’s just too many to name!
Oh Seraphine – we are polar opposites! I would be repalcing the MATTE shades with all shimmers!
OMG – talk about falling asleep where you plop! That little puppy lying nearly upside down – just like a baby falling asleep when they are dog tired!
Recent Purchases: Nada
Rediscoveries: SG Temptalia On the Horizons light palette.
Weekend Plans: On Friday I had lunch with one of my best girlfriends (the other one is on a trip to England to see her son) and we had such a long chat about everything. It’s always good to catch up with your friends.
Saturday – shopping, cleaning and laundry
Sunday – It’s Father’s Day here in Aus, so we are all going out for a big father’s day lunch at a restaurant.
I was going to cook up the usual feast when both of my sons said, have a break Mum and let’s go out. The restaurant businesses have suffered so much during the many lockdowns we’ve had in the past that we should support them. Needless to say, I agreed.
Favourite artist: I don’t really think I have a favourite – but Monet’s landscapes always appeal to me.
RECENT PURCHASES:
*Sugar Drizzle Meant to Bee Palette and Darling Nikki Highlighter.
*Give Me Glow Bad Witch Club Palette
*Urban Decay Vice Lip Bond Glossy Liquid Lipstick in Shock Value, Solo Player, and No Restraints.
WEEKEND PLANS:
Tomorrow my husband and I are flying to Phoenix, Arizona for our 31st anniversary trip (Our anniversary was Aug. 31.) Sunday we’re taking a river cruise dinner.
Monday we’re getting together with our own Nancy T. I can’t wait! 😃 We’re all going to the Duran Duran concert on Wednesday night.
Thursday and Friday hubby and I will visit the Grand Canyon Area.
WHO IS YOUR FAVORITE ARTIST?
Vincent Van Gogh, with Edvard Munch running a close second.
Holy Mumma! Rachel – you and Nancy are going to have a fabulous time – not only at the concert, but catching up with each other in real life! You both are going to have a fantastic time with Nancy’s makeup collection too.
Happy Anniversary and I think that both of you will have a wonderful time.
Thanks! I know we will! 🙂🙂🙂
Happy anniversary, Rachel, to you and your husband! Aug. 31 is the birthday of my dear friend and neighbour and also of my trainer!. I’m still leery about getting on a plane if I don’t have to but your dinner cruise sounds absolutely lovely and romantic! Enjoy!
Thank you!
Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: I picked up items from the Its Bel sale!
Weekend plans: I have zero plans. We are just busy getting ready to move.
Who is your favorite artist? Leonid Afremov
Recent Purchases: I found a brand new Lunar Beauty Moonspell (original) palette for a reasonable price and snagged it!
Rediscoveries: I pulled out my Kaleidos Club Nebula palette today. Such a beautiful one.
Weekend plans: .lots of laundry, but also! decorating for fall and Halloween! My favorite!
Who is your favorite artist? Alphonse Mucha. I love the intricacies of his designs and how elegant and beautiful he drew women.
