Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: Give Me Glow eyeshadow palettes, blushes, single eyeshadows
Weekend plans: We are hoping to take a scenic drive somewhere this weekend with Winnie and the new car, like a half-day road trip! Otherwise, the usual, but I want to focus on writing up reviews and entering dupes for posts for the next week.
What was your favorite road trip? I always loved going to South Lake Tahoe growing up!
P.S. — Want to chat with readers on the regular? Check out Temptalia’s Discord where you can chat about beauty, makeup, and more! 🙂
P.P.S. — Check our hubby’s site for video gaming guides — good if you (or someone you know or your kids!) is into gaming, including crosswords and Wordle.
Plus, I worked with hubby to develop our own games! You can check out the games we have at Awordy, which include Concludle (trivia) and Adoptle (figure out the name of an adoptable pet in six guesses), and Mislettered (figure out the quote by guessing letters).
This week's doggo photo/video...

Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: no makeup, but I bought some dark dye to get my hair fall-ready. I think I will rediscover a *lot* of fun makeup over the next few weeks as I find fun stuff that works with the more high-contrast hair and skin.
Weekend plans: Going to the Monterey Bay Aquarium this afternoon to see my beloved cuttlefish before they are moved to new displays or possibly taken off display. The exhibit they’re in is closing. We are also applying for an apartment closer to hub’s job, so we might start doing some cleaning and moving prep soon.
What was your favorite road trip? When my grandmother passed away in 2018, we drove from CA to OK and back. On the return trip, we stopped at the Grand Canyon, which neither of us had ever seen before. There was a little snow, but it was bright and sunny, and just so majestic. It felt very therapeutic to see such a wonderful site after such a big loss. I really enjoy that drive through western NM and AZ though because the desert speaks to me. I could not live there, but I love visiting.
Oh, that bed looks so comfortable! No wonder he’s on the lookout!
Recent purchases: MAC Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour in Burnt Spice, UD Vice Lip Bond in Text ‘Em, and MAC Retro Matte Lipstick in Bronx
Rediscoveries: Sigma 3DHD Precision Brush (accidentally forgotten at the bottom of a drawer), but it’s a fantastic brush for concealer, so I’m using it every day now. (Just noticed it’s on sale for $5 on Sigma…originally $25.)
Weekend plans: Working on music, doing laundry, resting from a very stressful work week.
What was your favorite road trip: I went on a really fun road trip in the 1990s, driving from Los Angeles up to Santa Cruz…and back to L.A. a couple days later.
Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: Kiss Me Heroine Volume and Curl waterproof mascara, because I need waterproof mascara just now. And since I was at my favorite Asian beauty boutique, I replenished sunscreen, some serums, and those little face razors.
Weekend plans: The usual food shopping and related errands.
What was your favorite road trip? The Dordogne region of France on our honeymoon. Early one we always rented cars and drove everywhere, but with age, we found it less stressful to spend more time in fewer place and sometimes did not even bother with a car.
Weekend plans: We are hoping to take a scenic drive somewhere this weekend with Winnie and the new car, like a half-day road trip! Otherwise, the usual, but I want to focus on writing up reviews and entering dupes for posts for the next week.
What was your favorite road trip? I alwa
Edit: I didn’t do a great job of copy and paste so some of Christine’s post is appended to the end of mine. (insert embarrassed emoji here).
Hahaha! But; PUPPIES, though!
Purchases/rediscoveries: Nothing purchased this week. I did rediscover a few items that I had neglected in recent months, like: PML Omi MatteTrance lipstick and Divine Rose II Mothership Palette. Using those yesterday made me remember why I love them both so much!
Weekend plans: Meeting tomorrow morning, laundry tonight, Sunday is up in the air. Would love to get together with one of my friends and just get out of the house, but some fresh, tasty produce, and yeah.
What was your favorite road trip? A better question for me would be what one wasn’t! LOL! As a kid, we went on many a road trip. Some of my personal favorites were from our home in extreme northeast New Jersey all the way down to Hampton Virginia on a highway that went down the Delmarva peninsula across the crazy Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel. We would always stop for breakfast at a Howard Johnson restaurant for breakfast halfway there and also stop on the pier with a very cool gift-shop on the CBBT and buy some keepsakes. Another favorite was when my dad would bring me along on his job where he was the head of sales of food to various institutions, and the ones that he brought me with him on were to all the Bear Mountain and Catskill, NY summer camps. So beautiful, fresh, clean, and GREEN!
It sounds like you’re enjoying the new car! I’m happy for you. Enjoy your trip!
RECENT PURCHASES: I got some 3INA lipsticks on sale to try.
RECENT REDISCOVERIES: Elizabeth & James Nirvana White.
WEEKEND PLANS: Lots of prep for our 31st Anniversary trip. We leave September 3 for Arizona. So, grocery shopping and menu planning with the rest of the household for while we’re gone (4 out 5 of them are high-functioning with autism spectrum disorder). Getting any last minute items hubby and I will need. Start packing.
WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE ROAD TRIP?
Our pre-pandemic July 2019 family trip to Utah. We basically traveled most of the Dinosaur Diamond Byway and hit some scenic parks and monuments. Beautiful scenery, amazing dinosaur and Native American history to see, nice people, gorgeous campsites… We hated to leave.
Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: Nothing new (still waiting for those birthday month deals and gifts 😆 )
Weekend plans: Continue to explore as much as I can in New York and enjoy the time with my brother.
What was your favorite road trip? 5 years ago, the first US road trip with my brother, from the Bay Area to Los Angeles (for Green Day concert, one of our favorite bands in highschool) to Las Vegas to Death Valley to Yosemite and back home. One of the best 10 days of my life, my first year of driving (I didn’t needed a car back in Europe), many miles, many memories and no incidents (my car windows actually shattered in the restaurant parking lot after we got back to my home and went for dinner).
What a comfortable looking bed Winnie has and I think he just wants to keep it for himself!
I am so pleased to read that you are going for some road trips in your new car – I bet it is so comfortable and easy to drive too. Have a great time out Christine.
Recent Purchases: My SG singles arrived this week and I have been using them ever since. I bought Phospenes and Exquisite Opulence from the Temptalia SG collaboration, with Blushed and Hot Stuff. They are stunning!
Rediscoveries: Fenty Beauty Freckle Fiesta lipstick and Shiseido’s Sleeping Dragon
Weekend Plans: Today (Aus time) is Harry’s second birthday. We are going over to their place for his birthday party at lunch time – complete with the fairy bread and sausage rolls that I have made. The family can now get together, as last year’s celebration was during lockdown. It’s a beautiful sunny day, so he will be in his element. We have got him a balance bike, helmet, books (he loves his books), a big dump truck and some clothes.
I have no idea what I am doing on Sunday…
My favourite road trip when I was growing up was going down to Queenscliff as a child. It had a great playground there and we were close to the beach. My parents were very fond of going on road trips and nearly every other weekend we would set off.
Happy birthday to Harry! It sounds like he’ll have had a wonderful day!
Thankyou Rachel – he did. He has got right into opening presents and he loved his dump truck and books, but absolutely lost his little mind over the balance bike. My eldest son got him a ride on digger and he was over the moon.
That must have been the cutest thing to see ever! 😃😃😃
Happy Birthday to Harry!
He will have a wonderful day!
Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: recently purchased Makeup Geek Summer Fling blush, a peachy orange shade and a MUG foundation brush. I’m shocked at how well the blush draping experiment worked combined with an old MUG stippling brush, Elf highlighting brush, and Patrick Ta She’s That Girl cream/powder pink blush. Colors are bright enough to show up on medium tanned skin, the finish was smooth, wore well for 12+ hours.
Weekend plans: Dinner and music with friends on a rare night off!
What was your favorite road trip? All of them, spending time with loved ones exploring new places!
Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: I finally got half of what I had ordered from CP, a little palette and a single eyeshadow was sold out. I got Flexitarian and Café De Paris liquid lipstick. Flexitarian was broken but I managed to press it back so I think it’ll work. I just didn’t feel like taking a lot of photos and then pay the tax and fee for a new one.
I wait for some more sunscreen to arrive, but nothing really exciting.
Rediscoveries, nothing really.
Weekend plans: Gardening, doing some shopping for groceries and stuff. Spend time with the dog, who had his mouth fixed on the 25th, he is medicated with something called Ciclosporin, it has a side effect making the gums grow. Stubbs gums had grow so we couldn’t see his lower front teeth, and the side teethe were almost as bad. Now his mouth looks fine and he seems to be pain free.
I have been so worried about his surgery, so I forgot that my son has his 25th birthday today. I’m so ashamed!
What was your favorite road trip? All of them! All the ones we took when I was a child with my wonderful maternal grandparents and our dogs.
Also the ones I took with my sons father, England, Wales and Ireland, both the republic and Northern Ireland. I also loved the one we took in South Africa. Rickard, my son was about 10 or 11.
These days I don’t really do any road trips, the petrol, gas is too expensive.
Winnie looks so comfy in his bed, he is so cute!
Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: My Sephora #Lipstories Offshore and YSL The Slim Velvet Radical Rouge Paradoxe, True Chili, and Brown No Way Back lipsticks from last week arrived on time. Tonight I placed an Ulta order: Megababe Bust Dust spray powder, Juicy Couture Viva la Juicy Noir fragrance, and Lancome L’Absolu Rouge Cream Rouge Badaboum and Call Me Sienna lipsticks.
Weekend plans: Laundry and weekly grocery run yesterday, worked all day today, tomorrow’s open.
What was your favorite road trip? I’ll say the trip from our southwest Ohio city to Chicago that my parents and I went on when I was in middle school, partly because we stayed at the Embassy Suites and partly because it was the last road trip where we didn’t fight like cats and dogs! We love each other, but any period of time in a confined car that’s longer than the hour or so it takes to get from our small city to either of the nearest major cities does not bring out the best in us.
Recent Purchases: I did purchase some shades of the Clionadh expansion as well as a magnetic palette.
Rediscoveries: My Sugarpill Fun Size palette. It’s so cute.
Weekend plans: My young son had another set of tubes put in his ears and his adenoids removed on Thursday (my birthday) so I’ve been caring for him this weekend, mostly making sure he’s getting a lot of fluids.
What was your favorite road trip?
My favorite road trip was/is any trip we drive to Disney World.
