What product seemed like it was going to be perfect to you but totally flopped instead?
Perfect might be a stretch with respect to *for* me but I figured the NYX Glow Shots were going to be very good and they were very much not.

Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Pillow Talk lipstick. I love the shade, but hate the formula. It doesn’t go on smoothly, separating into my lip lines terribly, making it unwearable for me.
Thankfully, I almost never have a “fail” because I have your site and several trusted YT’ers…. unless I either buy on impulse before reviews or act against what I’m hearing about an item. While I love most of my little UD Naked Foxy and haven’t had major issues with application due to my always using primer, for instance, I ought to have waited for the dupes and then I would have seen that almost every shade I already have dupes of except for Get Down and Disco? Could have just gotten a few SG singles for those 2 greens! Oh well, it’ll do for travel, and I do love the 2 green shimmer/glittery metallics.
But as for total fails, only MAC Pimento Retro Matte liquid lipstick comes to mind. Yikes! Transfers to my teeth, smudges all over my surrounding areas outside of my lips, making for a Joker/Harley Quinn mess!
The infamous Melt 420 Palette. All the unusual -for+the-time shades blended really poorly and were under-pigmented. So disappointiong.
I really wanted to love the Buxom Wanderlust Primer Infused Blush in Seychelles. People were hyping these blushes up so much and I want to love it but it’s so meh. I’ve had it for over a year and I wore it once. It’s a color too that’s right up my alley. Just doesn’t compare to what else is in my collection !
I had high hopes that the Nip Fab glycolic acid pads would help with my closed comedones, and instead they gave me an entire chin full of them.
I was so excited about the exact same nyx product & yeah, pretty disappointed in the end. It’s unusual for me to have makeup formula fails, thanks to all your work. My failures have more to do with poor color choices, than other aspects of the product. I don’t know why at 40 I haven’t realized certain lipstick shades (orange specifically) won’t work for me. Still I buy, thinking maybe this orange will be different. It sadly never is.
This made me laugh because I do the same thing…buying shades I should already know won’t work on me. That’s why I have so many green, blue, and yellow eyeshadows. And orange lipsticks, too!
The Bite Amuse lipsticks – I purchased Nori and Maple and found them to be really hard to apply on my lips. They tugged and were unforgiving of my lip lines and dried out my lips awfully. I ended up tossing them.
Pretty much all the liquid eyeshadows I’ve tried thus far – I think I prefer the consistency and workability of the paint pots, shadow sticks and eyeshadow creams.
Oy, yoy. Boring for everyone, but: Pur TM in medium. Usually a light to light medium. The shade was the most pink/red of the bunch. I thought it would be more liquid. The color…it’s gotta go back and I never do that…was yellow ochre. Oxidized straight out of the tube and clearly didn’t improve with app! I had the same problem with Fenty. Concealers and foundations were too yellow on the ‘cool’ side. Sephora SA: I didn’t know that could happen!
