I used to prefer matte, and while I think a medium coverage matte can photograph really smoothly, I do find that I prefer the overall look of “natural” finish or slightly dewy but not shiny.

Matte is the only finish that looks good on me. I think my face is too pale for dewy foundations. When I’ve tried them, they just look weird on me and I wind up mattifying with powder.
I like the ease of a BB Cream or a foundation stick but my most preferred is a demi matte w medium to buildable coverage. I loathe full coverage. Too matte can look crusty and cakey so I prefer a soft matte
A skin-like, hydrating, medium coverage foundation that can be built up to fuller coverage if needed (or desired), not luminous, but definitely not flat matte, either. Also, that it doesn’t have that weird “sitting on top of my skin”, cakey look to it, but instead melds as one with my skin.
Mine has changed since my skin has started showing more signs of aging. I Don’t like mattes on me any more. A natural or slightly luminous finish suits me much better and doesn’t settle in my forehead lines.
No surprise here, I always liked a matte finish… and somehow I liked it more as I age. 😅 Off course, I like a natural matte finish, that the flat Sahara dry one.
Sheer. Powdery. Radiant finish. Probably Bare Minerals Original Loose Foundation would be perfection.
A soft matte finish is what I prefer. Whenever I have worn even slightly dewy foundations, I have ended up looking too shiny and have used a setting powder to blot it up and it’s not the finish I want.
I think matte foundations have come a long way in the past decade or so – they are not as cakey as they use to be. I prefer a medium coverage as well.
Luminous and slightly dewy. Mature skin needs it. Matte is a hard wear now, but I use my mattes and add Charlotte Tilbury’s Hollywood Flawless Filter and it helps a lot.
Soft matte to satin, skin like finish, light to medium, buildable.
If a foundation is luminous, dewy, radiant or anything that makes it shine I look like I just took a bath in oil, and I have to powder it down so much that it makes my skin look awful. I much prefer a flat matte if I have to chose between it and a dewy finish.
