What's your favorite eyeshadow finish?
I probably gravitate towards metallics with a bit of finer sparkle, but I have a soft spot for pearl-like sheen–more than satin, less than frost/metallic.

It’s interesting that you’ve used a pic of Chanel’s Tisse Rivoli quad to illustrate this thread because that’s pretty much exactly the sort of finish I prefer in eyeshadows – something with a shimmery sheen that brightens my eyes and makes them look more youthful than matte shadows do. Inglot’s Pearl finish and MAC’s Velux Pearl finishes are also good examples of what I like in an eyeshadow finish.
I almost exclusively use matte shadows nowadays. I’m into a more natural look than I used to be pre-pandemic.

Literally EVERYTHING except PET glitter! As of quite recently, I have been really enjoying multichrome eyeshadows. Yet, I still do enjoy a great matte formula, matte-like satins, metallics and even soft pearlized duochromes.
I am reasonably fussy about my eyeshadow finishes – I really love a good metallic, a foil, a soft shimmer, a satin and a creamy kind of pearl sheen. Examples of my favourite eyeshadow finishes include PMG’s Sinful and Gold Nectar, Temptalia’s Magellan’s Light, UD’s YDK, Toasted and Smog, CT’s The Rebel shades 1, 2 and 3.
I use mattes and metallics most often because that’s what I have on hand, but the pearl-like satins are what really catch my eye – like you see from Chanel and Dior. I really love the soft luster.
Multi- and duo-chromes; shimmers
Although my first temptation is to say matte, in the end my favorite would be satin eyeshadow. But the kind of satin that almost looks matte in some lights, while having the dimension of a slight shimmer.
Smooth metallic!
Definitely satin! I am so over multichromes, duochromes, frosts, glitters, toppers, etc etc etc. Where are all the satins hiding?
