Purchases: scored a bottle (may go back for another) of Philosophy Senorita Margarita shower gel so I can now use the one I’ve already got quite lavishly (I was being a bit miserly with it but it’s so wonderful in the hot, steamy days of summer) and I also got a bottle of Crabtree & Evelyn Rose Shower Gel. I think that’s it…

Weekend plans: waiting for grand-daughter to be born (looks like it will be a Monday induction, though – a 7/11 baby!); the gym tomorrow and maybe Sunday as well… My daughter has been avoiding deli meats her whole pregnancy but it dying for some salami, Italian deli meats, etc. so I want to gather the ingredients for a nice charcuterie board for her for after her daughter arrives…

Plans for July: baby, baby, baby…my daughter’s baby will be HERE and I’ll be able to see her, hold her, and also support our daughter (we’ll bring in meals and such…) Also, at some point, celebrating Bastille Day which is when I met my husband and one of my best friends (we were all going to school in the south of France and met on Bastille Day). There’s a lovely riverside restaurant where we’re planning to go but don’t want to firm anything up because of the arrival of the baby.

Yet another parallel to our lives Mariella – we had a granddaughter first too! And my youngest son was born on a Monday as well – Monday’s Child is fair of face (and he is). Here’s hoping for an easy delivery and a healthy mum and bub.
After three grandchildren, I became an ‘expert’ on the kinds of food new parents need – and a Charcuterie board is one of them – something they can pick at between feeding, changing, burping, feeding, changing etc. You know the drill!
I also prepared some roast vegetable foccacias, mini wraps, sausage rolls too. One of the best things, Anika said to tell you, was I made up zip lock bags of cut up vegies, cut up chicken etc, so if they felt like a stir fry or something similar all they had to do was use the bags and it was easy.
This is going to be so exciting for you both and I am sure you can’t wait to meet the newest addition to your family.
My youngest son Nicholas and his wife Anika got married on Bastille Day a decade ago and are planning on having a few days in the city to celebrate. Between both sets of grandparents we will be looking after the children.

Leila (my daughter), like me, was born on a Sunday (in that poem, the best day to be born) and both of my sons were born on a Monday. I texted that line from the poem to my daughter this morning. I’m sad that both boys are so far away (older son roughly 3,500 kms and younger son in Tokyo) so neither will be able to see their niece except by FaceTime, at least for a while (older son should be home at the end of August except that Air Canada keeps cancelling flights).

Son in law is a fantastic cook but I’ll be bringing whatever foods they want to have on hand, either freezer meals or fresh. Fortunately, they are fairly close by – about a 35 minute drive if there are no accidents on the highway (a growing concern everywhere here – careless driving, fatalities, crashes….I don’t know what’s happening with people and their aggressive driving). I’ll keep in mind your advice regarding the cut up veggies and ingredients….very good idea and thanks for the suggestion. I think I’ll bake and freeze some cookies as well.

Hi! Recently purchased the Surrat Beyond Beige palette. The shadows perform great – slow to crease on my oily, 50+yo lids and the darkest shade, Brun Noir, used as a liner, stays in place all day. The palette is worth the higher price tag. Cheers!

Recent purchases: No makeup this week. But I bought a 1.7 oz bottle of Chanel Chance Eau Fraîche. I’m not a fan of the Chance line except for this one. But I’m disappointed because after about an hour it becomes a skin scent, and after two hours it’s completely gone.

Rediscoveries: Huda Power Bullet Matte Lipstick in Anniversary

Weekend plans: Same as last weekend: Finish my “Ozark” binge, continue “The Distant Hours” by Kate Morton, and visit my dad.

Do you have any interesting plans for July? Nope. Not much going on until August.

Seraphine, a few years ago, I wanted to get Angel hair mist to use for those times when I’ve not had a chance to wash my hair and I feel it smells of food/cooking smells or just not fresh. I went to buy it and the sales assistant said “Oh, we don’t carry the hair mist….but we have hair mists from Chanel”. The only Chanel fragrance I really like is No. 19 perfume but I tried the Chance Eau Tendre and Eau Fresh hair mists and both are lovely, lovely, lovely and Eau Tendre really lasts on my hair…I guess hair absorbs smells (including the food/cooking ones) better than skin. It’s actually become sort of my preferred way to wear scent now…misted on my hair. Try misting it on your hair (even though it’s not a hair mist) and see if it lasts longer for you.

I have the No. 19 EDP, but I’m sad that I missed out on the discontinued No. 19 Poudre version.

I tend to wear different scents every day, so I never spray my hair (because I don’t wash it every day), but I’ll try the Eau Fraîche in my hair on the day before my next shampoo. Thanks for the tip! 🙂

Recent Purchases: Adept Cosmetics House of El and Plain Jane Remastered palettes as well as SG Tiny Marvels palette.

Rediscoveries: Just in general, warm neutrals. I wanted to wear them all week.

Weekend plans: Nothing in particular. Probably shopping for some birthday presents for my son.

Do you have any interesting plans for July? Not really; July is my least favorite month, though it is my son’s birthday, so my husband and I are taking the last week of July off and taking him to do a bunch of fun birthday things before he starts kindergarten (sob) the week after.

Genevieve Avatar

What a lovely way to celebrate your son’s birthday Celesta – over the past couple of years there has been really no big birthday celebrations due to covid, but now that there are quite a few things open, it’s a wonderful that children can have full on birthday parties again. Olivia and Lachlan seem to have one to attend every weekend – making up for lost time.
I can’t believe your son is kindergarten age – it just seems like yesterday he was a little bubba. It’s quite a bittersweet moment when they go to kinder, but he will love it.

Yes, Winnie, companionship with another pooch can be so fun and delightful! 🐶💜🐶

Purchases/rediscoveries: She’s here! Woke up to find my PML Subversive Mothership up against my door, so I’m definitely going to play with it a little later when I get ready to take on the day! Gigabyte will certainly be involved in whatever I put together.

Weekend plans: Need to go out today to take care of some essential business, one of which is returning a couple items of clothing back to Old Navy. Their sizing can be quite inconsistent at times, I have found. Meeting tomorrow which is actually part of our annual Convention. Trying to stay nice and cool because this weekend is supposed to be a real scorcher!

Do you have any interesting plans for July? Nope! Although I sure do wish that I could get to a beach and just chill. That’s one of several things that I truly hate about Arizona; no ocean. And I don’t own a vehicle to at least get to a lake for the day, either.

RECENT PURCHASES/REDISCOVERIES – Lisa Eldridge just released some new shades of lipstick in my favorite formula in her line, Luxuriously Lucent. I got all the colors and I am looking forward to trying them all. I also picked up a few ColourPop blushes during their sale last weekend.

WEEKEND PLANS – Going to try to finish the Red Rising trilogy by Pierce Brown this weekend and a few other books that I need to return to the library soon.

INTERESTING PLANS FOR JULY – My son wants to visit an aquarium so we’ll hopefully get to do that this month.

Winnie is certainly enjoying his time with a playmate – so lovely to see. Just like a little kid….
Recent Purchases: Just some of The Inkey List’s HA serum from Sephora. and more of my Nude by Nature primer.
Rediscoveries: Chanel’s Tisse D’Automne and Milani’s Cinnamon Spice lipstick
Weekend Plans: We had little Harry over yesterday, recovering from his operation from Thursday.
After he was born, his parents noticed a cyst behind his left ear – an ultra sound revealed that it was a cyst and it was decided to remove it when he was a bit older. It hadn’t grown at all. Covid happened and then the surgery was put off for awhile. Anyway, last Thursday morning Harry had his operation – it was due to take between 15 to 25 minutes, but there were complications and the surgery lasted for and hour and a half. It turns out the cyst was much deeper than previously thought and at the bottom of the cyst was a crevice. The concern was that the cyst could have tendrils into his skull or brain area. The paediatric surgeon decided that it would be better to have an MRI of this area before they remove part of his skull – a whole different kind of operation. The cyst was taken to pathology to examine its contents and we are still awaiting the news. So that has been our big worry this week.
He is fully recovered from the operation, but was quite tired yesterday and had a big sleep.
This weekend we have not much on – the weather is wet and cold. I am just watching the Tour De France.
Looking forward to in July: We have decided to replace our kitchen benches and cupboard doors – the layout of our kitchen is fine, but the benches and doors need replacing, so hopefully that will commence. There is a real shortage of materials around at the moment, so we shall see.

Zia Avatar

Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: Been enjoying my new-to-me Subculture palette!
Weekend plans: I have an MRI tomorrow. Might see a friend Sunday.
Do you have any interesting plans for July? Nothing at all.

Lacey Avatar

Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: Tried two shades of Clinique even better concealer this week. I like it! Consistency is smooth, shade selection and longevity rivals Nars, way less expensive, the blender pad is useless. Creamy, mixes well with Mac paint pot. Dries satin, skin like finish, med coverage, wore well for 8+ hrs. My undereyes weren’t cakey or dried out. I’m impressed.

Weekend plans: chores, laundry, sleep.

Do you have any interesting plans for July? Work and weather. ; )

Recent Purchases: Both my hair oil and hair heat protectant are on their last legs, so I went to Sephora to place an order, but one of the offers for a $35 purchase was a hair sampler set with tons of minis I actually wanted to try. So I ordered two candles (SKYLAR Vanilla Sky Candle and VOLUSPA Mini Tahitian Coconut Vanilla) and got tons of free hair care products. 😆

Weekend plans: Lots of cleaning and clearing around the house, on Monday my apartment complex is installing smart lockers and sensors in my home, so I need to make sure everything is ready for the installment. Otherwise the same old stuff.

Do you have any interesting plans for July? No actual plans, but I plan to make things interesting on the fly.

RECENT PURCHASES: None

WEEKEND PLANS: We hope to try out a new New Orleans-style bakery, now that they’ve been able to add more hours. The owners come from New Orleans, and my son’s GF is, too, so we have to. Other than that, nothing special.

DO YOU HAVE ANY INTERESTING PLANS FOR JULY?
Nothing concrete. We’ve been too busy catching up on everyone’s appointments and business after everyone being sick the whole month of May.

We try to approve comments within 24 hours (and reply to them within 72 hours) but can sometimes get behind and appreciate your patience! 🙂 If you have general feedback, product review requests, off-topic questions, or need technical support, please contact us directly. Thank you for your patience!
