Will your skincare routine change at all for summer?

Not by much! In the real summer here, we hardly go out because it’s way too hot and the sun feels like it’s practically hugging you in its hot embrace, lol! I do keep a facial spray/mist in the fridge, though, and use that more often during the summer.

Absolutely. Summers where I live are hot and humid. It’s serum-only, even if I’m staying indoors under the AC. Moisturizers are a three season thing for me, even with my super dry skin.

In past years, I always went for a deeper hydrating, yet lighter feeling nighttime moisturizer with Hada Labo’s one with triple hyaluronic acids, but this year I’ve been sticking to using Drunk Elephant Protini Peptide moisturizer. If our humidity goes up any time soon, I will switch back to Hada Labo.
Oh, and yes to everything you said above about our thoroughly wretched summers here, Christine! 🥵

As someone who dislikes the intense heat (and we get a whole lot of it in S. Ontario in summer…and spring and fall), I don’t know how you live with the heat where you are, Christine.

In summer, I really up the SPF – I’ve always been very careful about sun exposure and wear SPF all year, every day but in summer, a higher SPF and/or thicker and/or more frequent reapplications. I also use a cleanser less geared to drier skin – something that will cut through the sunscreen and also facial oils/sweat that are inevitable in summer. I’m also more likely to use some sort of toner type product.

My skincare routine definitely changes for summer – for a start I use the La Roche Posay”s 50+ sunscreen under my foundation and extra slabs of moisturising cream on my arms, neck, legs etc. I use either Cetaphil’s moisturising cream or CeraVe’s. Plus I use a general sunscreen on my body as well.
Our summers are brutal as well and between the high humidity and searing heat, I become more of an indoors kind of person.

I have oily skin so I’m inclined to use Witch Hazel a lot in the summer. It calms my oiliness without stripping it. Humidity and I do NOT mesh well 😡

I was hugged by the sun in Vegas, 42C is a tad too warm for me. Last summer in Alberta we were in the mid 30s and I could cope nicely. Dry heat is tolerable, humidity kills me. I apply a facial tanner to match my body in the summer so I don’t need a foundation. I typically go lighter all round with makeup in the summer. Everything thing else stays the same pretty well skincare wise.

Not really, I don’t change skincare with seasons. Even when it comes to SPF, I decided to wear SPF 50 year round. I do plan to start incorporating an azelaic acid in the morning, but just because I was in a long break from it, not because it’s summer.
