What was the last product you returned (or gave away) because you didn't like it?
I don’t typically return beauty products, since I buy to review! I give away most products these days as I just never have time to go back and reuse much. But let’s play pretend, and I’ll say the recent ColourPop x NBA eyeliners!
I returned Huda Beauty Rose Quartz palette. It’s one of those labels where I want to love it, get suckered in by a colour story, but vastly prefer other formulas.
A ColourPop Lip Tint…I wanted to like it but I couldn’t take the scent/flavor!
The Lois Cosmetics Meet Me At Midnight palette. It was not great.
IO kept only a few of the shades out of the Melt 420 Palette and gave the rest away.
Colourpop Going Coconuts palette , Wet n Wild Tinted Hydrator, Colourpop Pretty Fresh Foundation, Milani Conceal & Perfect Concealer , ABH Soft Glam, Pat McGrath Iconic Illumination quad and Colourpop Yes Please palette…come to mind. I didn’t return anything but rather gave to my daughter bc I didn’t like them enough to use or I thought she’d get more use out of them!
NARS reformulated the Belize lip gloss, and the shade is WAY darker than the original. I gave to a friend, it is was just not what I wanted.
Saie TM. First prime with Crisco. Then watch yourself try to blend it. Glowy? Hardly. Gloopy is more like it. Sure it’s fine for many, but I took it back that very day.
It’s pretty difficult to return beauty products here in Aus. – you either give them away or toss. The last beauty product I tossed was CP’s 21 Questions lipstick because of the vanilla taste – it was awful.
I don’t think I’ve returned anything unless damaged. I recently reviewed my eyeshadow and gave many palettes to my 26 yr old great granddaughter. My eyes have become more crepey and the metallics and generally sparkly shadows just don’t look good anymore. I also stopped wearing eyeliners so I passed those on to he as well.
I returned a Milani baked highlighter because it was a total glitter mess. Looked pretty through the plastic window. Just did not work.
Jones road miracle balm. Ya he smell was awful, I gave it away.
Jones road miracle balm. The smell was awful, I gave it away.
Trashed Dior Matte in 0.5N. The color was too dark or light for everyone I know who wears foundation, and the pump clogged and malfunctioned to the point where I ruined two shirts using it. Threw it away in anger. I loved the Dior High Perfection Matte Foundation, and I’m hoping that the pump problem is isolated to this bottle because I’m stuck with the new Matte if I want to get more.
Gave some eyeshadows to my daughter, including Natasha Denona’s mini Retro palette which I could not get to work on me, color wise or formula wise. I have other palettes of hers that I like, but that one was a dud for me.
Laura Mercier Essential Rouge Muse. A huge dissappointment … Needed a cool red lipstick, this one looked perfect , but on my lips it fades away leaving bright pinkish sort of tint shade. Gave it away to my niece, she’s happy with it.
I think the last item I returned was an eyeshadow palette from Marc Jacobs – the Edgitorial one. The Sephora where I shop had testers for all of those new palettes that came out at the same time EXCEPT for Edgitorial, which was the one I was most interested in so I bought it “untested” and had only seen the swatches and read the description here at Temptalia. Well, I tried so hard to make it work for me – I was sure that as a neutral, murky looking palette, it would be perfect – but it was dreadful and there was really only one shadow in the whole thing that I liked and didn’t make me look sickly, old(er) or that I actually needed. So it was a steep price to pay for one lone shadow that worked and so back to the store it went. I felt bad about it…I hate returning products and that’s one reason I like being able to see them for myself and also why I appreciate this site so very, very much!
I have only returned a few things over my long buying career as I have learned to wait for reviews from you, if possible. The last thing I returned was an eyeshadow palette that I bought in person but was dreadful. It scored an F here after the fact. I think it was a MUFE but I can’t be positive. I loved the colour story.
I have thrown out many things over the years. Some were mistakes that I made when learning about what works for me, some have dried out like old lip and eye liners, some went off etc.
I am on a never-ending quest for a liquid foundation that works for me and the latest product that I gave away was Colour Pop Pretty Fresh foundation. It sat weird and didn’t look right on my oily, aging skin.
I recently got minis of the ColourPop pretty fresh primer and Tarte maneater mascara and hated both of them. I just threw them away though.
