What was the first mascara you used in 2022?
Pat McGrath FetishEyes Mascara, which is on its last legs! I try not to have too many mascaras open at once!

Has anyone tried Caliray Come Hell or High Water tubing? (Sephora)
I’m still using my Sisley So Intense mascara. It’s pretty nice, I’m satisfied with it.
I don’t know if I can ever justify buying it again due to its price, but life is short. Nevermind, there’s my justification!
Benefit Rollerlash that I’d opened a few weeks before the end of the year. It used to be my absolute number one favorite mascara of all time……………..buuuut………I’ve noticed a tendency towards dryness and and very little product in brand new Benefit items I’ve purchased over the last three or four years. I’m done giving them my money. All the brow products and mascaras (I guess six or seven items total, over four years) I’ve bought from a combination of in-store, online, and different retailers have all ended up just being “barely there.” Brow gels are dry and clumpy, Rollerlash is dry and barely goes on my lashes – it used to be a one-coater! And two gave me crazy volume! Now? I have sad lashes. They’re done with Benefit. I just threw out the last of a concealer from them that was nice and creamy, but began interacting with my favorite sunscreen for the last ten years in a weird and new way. The shade match was also confusingly orangey-peach. After I’ve finished the last couple of mascaras in my backups, I’m going drugstore mascara from here on out. I remember loving maybelline, but Benefit always suckered me in with those $12 rollerlash deals so I haven’t bought anything else in years.
I thought I was crazy. I agree with that they’re totally empty. I kept dipping in to the They’re Real And I literally thought I must have bought one that was returned, a used old one, cuz nothing was in it. Same with roller girl. But they’re not the only high end. The NARS in the red tube is completely empty. I don’t get it.
Omg thank you!! I keep seeing youtubers and bloggers talk about Benefit’s brow and lash offerings and no one has ever said anything about receiving dry tubes or little product. I saw a video once, last year maybe, of a youtuber opening a fresh Benefit brow and it was actually wet! They said too much product comes out on the brush – and I could SEE it! But over here I’m opening fresh mascara tube after fresh mascara tube and there is basically nothing in there. I used to open a Rollerlash and have it last me six months or more. Now I’m scraping the wand around in the tube right away.
Same for my last two purchased gimme brows, which were so frustrating I haven’t purchased another since and that was three years ago.
Thanks for the heads up on the Nars! I’m definitely done paying for mid-high end mascaras for a while.
Thank you for the information!
Diorshow overcurl.. a new tube and this one is sooo gunky. I’ve never had a bad tube before.
Victoria Beckham Future Lash Mascara. I usually only open one mascara at a time, but my other one is a waterproof one and I really hate trying to get it off. I’m testing this one because it is a tubing mascara. I really like it! I don’t end up losing lashes like the L’oreal tubing one.
YSL The Shock.
Heroine Make Long And Curl Waterproof Mascara! Stuff is a game changer for my wimpy, straight lashes. I apply it after tightlining my upper lashline and curling them. Curl never droops. Only thing is, you NEED an oil to remove it at the end of the day!
Trish McEvoy High Volume Tubing mascara
Urban Decay Perversion. I only have 1 or 2 open at a time.
Le Volume De Chanel on top lashes and MAC Extended Play on bottom lashes.Almost done with these two mascara’s waiting to try something new in my mascara stash.
Victoria Beckhams mascara it was free with an order and I hated it! I was ready to toss it. Talked to a friend who raved about it. Tried her technique and good lord. Best lashes ever! It’s like a lighter version of Dior show mascara. It’s a tube mascara and once it sets you can keep layering for length.
Maybelline sky high on the top and Idole by Lancôme on the bottom. With Chanel primer.
I hadn’t been buying drugstore mascara for awhile since I used essence which was very good first batches but restock was terrible.
Sky high is very good!
Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes. My first tube of it, and it was an Ulta Birthday Present. Pretty good for my lashes. It works, does not smudge, flake or give me raccoon eyes.
Bite Upswing. Best I could find since Benefit discontinued my favorite for years Bad Gal.
Pat McGrath Fetish Eyes, it’s on it’s last legs so I’m going to open the Dark Star next and see if I like it.
MILK’s mascara I think. I need to find new mascara actually.
Nars Climax Extreme – the back tube. The extra volumizing claims are true. Opened a new one right after new year’s – loving it!
My new Designer Brands Centre Stage mascara – a real goodie.
Hard Candy Ginormous Lash Purple Haze-it’s really old, but it still works. HC’s current closest equivalent is Ultimate Lash Extension in The Royal Treatment, but it’s tubing and I’m a little leery of tubing mascaras, so I’ll probably replace it with ColourPop BFF Purple Prose or another tube of L’Oreal Voluminous Deep Violet when the time comes.
