Where do you store your makeup?

I have a makeup room where I have long-term makeup storage (things I’ve kept) along with a vanity (where I do my makeup) that is an open room that sits between the guest room and the offices.

In my bedroom, in three dresser drawers, one of which is stuff I know that I need to declutter. Especially since I do plan on trying to make a major move end of March.
Then, I also have a 3 drawer narrow Sterlite container and a few lipstick storage units. As if wasn’t bad enough, there’s quite a bit taking up real estate on top of that same dresser!

I use a tall Elfa drawer system from the Container Store with different types of drawer organizers. On top, I keep my singles in Adept 2-sided palettes with another small storage unit. My brushes are kept in hanging Elfa storage that hooks to the side. The size of my Elfa is perfect, with large deep drawers, but the mesh bothers me as dust gets everywhere. So, in each drawer, I cover my products with my son’s old receiving blankets.

Gosh, I have to admit I’m not particularly organised at the moment! I bought a new (old) vanity which I was planning on doing up but meanwhile serves as a table/ storage! Right now I have a bunch of trays – actual trays, perspex ones, big, small and everything in-between, mugs I’ve come by when travelling, beauty bags, etc – where I keep all sorts in no particular order. Those are in shelves, in a cupboard… all over a room really, except the bed (on most days) and the wardrobe!
In the living room, on my dining table, I have another couple of trays where I put the stuff I use regularly -given covid, it’s not like I’m using it anytime soon for eating! Also “Covid” is my current excuse for being messy as I’m not having people over, so the need to “be tidy, in case sb visits” isn’t there.
I’ve just remembered I have some stuff in a cupboard in the office too, so there, it’s official, I have too much! As I’m writing this I keep glancing at Guerlain’s Cherry Red (to the right and almost perfectly aligned…), I know it got a “B” but isn’t it pretty?

Thanks! I am in the process of moving into my own apartment and was wondering for my vanity whether to have a big a mirror with lightbulbs against the wall or buy the simplehuman. The big mirror sounds glamorous but having something like a simplehuman mirror is more practical and efficient

I have a large walk in bathroom where I store them in metal 6 drawer utility carts, organized by brand. It never gets steamy in there, and I keep my blinds closed so the sun is never on the carts. If I ordered the plexiglass makeup drawers, I would need about 25 of them. I did attempt to try this at one time and failed miserably because some of my makeup palettes are different sizes and would not fit into the drawers. I had purchased 12 plexiglass units and also found I could not see what was in the drawers very well. I’d love other ideas from subscribers on how they store their makeup and rotate usage!

I carry my makeup with me. It’s odd I know but it’s my security blanket. Even if I don’t touch up knowing it’s in my handbag is a comfort. So, I carry one large makeup bag with eye drops, mints, aspirin and makeup. In the smaller one I have my liners, lipsticks and hg Laura Mercier Candleglow #1 at the ready. The little bit of makeup I have at home I store in a champagne bottle box that slides and doesn’t look awful sitting out. My backups of Dior Addict perfume and powder I have tucked away in my lingerie drawer. Noooo idea why there.

I have a six drawer antique desk, eight traincases, a caboodle, a small acrylic storage display with drawers and two small decorative wooden boxed that match the desk. (My small stash of backups are housed in two biscuit boxes under another antique desk.)

My house was built in 1968 and has small bedrooms and bathrooms, so I use one of the smaller the bedrooms for makeup, accessories, and out of season clothes.

I keep daily items and stuff I want to wear during the week in a refurbished roll top desk. I have a set of shelves with 3D printed holders for eye palettes. I have a rolling toolbox with single cheek products in acrylic holders, cheek palettes, and my luxury and special indie palettes Lip products are sorted into acrylic holders on top of the toolbox.

My makeup is in my bedroom. It has a north facing window so there’s never any direct sunlight to blind me.
I have a bookcase, a small but fun one for all the eyeshadow palettes, but there are some highlighter palettes in there as well, On top of it I keep my Guerlain Meteorites as I find them decorative.
The lipsticks are mostly on two rotating acrylic towers, I think it holds 80 or something like that lipsticks. There are two drawers in my desk turned vanity where I house things I use often, but also the more expensive makeup I want to stay free of dust, scratches and general wear. I have an acrylic stand on the vanity for things that look pretty and I use often, it houses CT and Lisa Eldridge lipsticks, CT eyeshadow quads and my beloved Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder. Brushes are stored in square vases on the vanity. Also on the vanity I currently have a mess with makeup I try to see if I want to keep or toss it, these things are grouped in try again, keep and toss groups and then there’s a box with things to try. Under the mess I have my pretty Guerlain lipsticks. I think I’ll be trought with most of the trying out things by Christmas, or I hope.
Then I have boxes with Dior quints, quads and singles, a box with lipsticks, another with liquid lipstick and one with glosses.
I also have makeup I’m not currently using, but love checking and finding something I’ll have fun with in a wardrobe along with lashes and hairstyling stuff.
Writing this makes me almost, just almost a bit ashamed of how much I have, I could be a blogger, but I’m not one for writing ,and I feel I have a face perfect for radio, these days 😀 So no influencer career for me 😉
