I have two that I love, both of which are discontinued!! Penhaligon’s Eau sans Pareil, which is a wonderful Christmassy raspberry jam smell, and the original Marni perfume which is much more spicy and woody. I smelled it in Vogue in 2013 and fell in love!

Sisley Eau du Soir. The name says it all, really! And it’s such a different fragrance – doesn’t smell like 20 other perfumes on the market – and to my nose, it sort of smells like an elegant grunge girl, if that makes any sense at all.

It depends on the longevity I’m going for honestly. I’m a huge scent person so I tend to match my scent to whether I’m dressing more feminine/classic or more soft-modern-goth/blacks.

I’ve been in love with Beachwalk from the Replica line by Maison Margiela for years, and I find pairing it with Acqua do Gioia elevates it and makes it last longer than four hours.

I also always recommend and get compliments on Polo Black when it’s cold out – there’s something about a chill in the air that really brings out the best of the scent.

My other current favorite is by an Indie brand Madam Scoldioli. I highly recommend the solid scent balms she sells, and the spray lasts forever in my hair – so I pair the parfums/colognes from them that way. The Oracle line is my absolute favorite with notes of fig, spices, and musk blended together. I nearly always receive compliments when I’m wearing it too. It’s one of the few options of fig fragrances I’ve found that don’t pair it with a harsh citrus.

There’s a Portuguese saying about perfume when it’s very strong, we say “it walks into the room before you [show your face]”!
In my head, my perfume sort of falls into two categories: “Here I am, I have arrived, part the sea ’cause I’m coming!” and the other one, more cool and sedate, “I don’t want to be seen but I still want to smell nice”. For an evening out I would typically go for something on the stronger side and I always decide on the spot. They are all favourites and I just put on whatever I feel like wearing there an then.
I only buy perfume I love, if I’m gifted sth I don’t particularly enjoy I put it on to do random things like take the rubbish out and walk the dog or stay home… I saw the price of perfume recently -reeeeally looked at it- and the way it’s gone up in one year, I’ll be using regular soap as my perfume du jour (& night)… I almost keeled over when I saw them prices! I wonder if I can build a stash of perfume now and keep it in stock for the next 20 years-ish, would it hold?
P.S. I’m thinking of a nickname to register here… Obviously there’s another one, the original! ahha! Maybe I’ll call myself Andrea the second! 😉 Haha! I won’t, I promise, I’ll think of sth more suitable.

Winter rotation
Hermès L’Ambre des Merveilles – gorgeous ambre, not too sweet, goes with everything, smells expensive, perfect for layering

Hermès Kelly Calèche – the soft insides of very expensive well used leather bag. A soft, faintly floral feminine leather with a little lemon

Neela Vermeire – Bombay Bling! – sweet milky rice and cardamom

Zoologist Bee – beeswax, honeycomb, laced with honeyed incense

That’s a really hard one to answer because I have so many perfumes and I like to rotate them all. Probably for an evening out (which is still very special at the moment having been released from lock down), I would choose either Laura Tonatto’s Rose perfume (if I feel like a rosy scent) or an Elizabeth and James perfume (not sure of the name now).

I love Tom Ford Cafe Rose and Jo Malone’s Rose and Oud, Myrrh and Tonka (alone or mixed). I tend to wear warmer, spicier fragrances as super fruity/citrusy notes smell like pine sol on my skin. I also love Jimmy Choo Fever.
