Do you plan ahead for Black Friday/Cyber Monday sales?
For beauty, I don’t indulge very much as I’ve always purchased most things by that (since I am reviewing them),but in general, I try to think about what I’ve been “needing” or “wanting” ahead of time so I can look for deals in November. This is particularly true with larger purchases (say a TV or vacuum).
No. I loathe the entire concept and the manufactured frenzy.
I wish I did plan better! I’m either buying a refill that I need RIGHT NOW, or I’m impulsively buying something that caught my eye and I have to have it RIGHT NOW.
I always plan to make Black Friday / Cyber Monday purchases to re-stock all the skincare and bodycare I’ll probably finish/need by December-January, and the makeup and haircare I will need in the first quarter of the next year. That way I get good prices on products I already know I will buy.
Off course, I also check the prices on clothes and household items I want to buy.
I always keep a running list of things I need to buy short-medium term.
In the past several years, I most definitely have. But I likely won’t this year. Did all the spendy needs in those previous years, ie; black leather jacket, Doc Marten boots, Roku TV, microwave oven, etc. Right now, I’m only concentrating on the Sephora Rouge sale and after that, saving to move back to NJ. If that doesn’t come together, then at least back over to Scottsdale/Southeast Phoenix where I have a strong network of friends, plus excellent public transportation and things to do.
I do hope you get to relocate back to NJ. Spirit of Place. Comfort. Memories. We all know it means a lot to you.
I’ve been trying to plan ahead as much as possible for beauty purchases! I plan to get some Pat McGrath but also trying out more indie brands during Black Friday (I made a list). In terms of non-beauty, I’ve been more casual in just making mental notes about things I actually need ( a few kitchen soft goods) and nice to haves (home decor items).
Not really as it doesn’t quite happen here in Aus. Generally I find that the beauty items I like are not on sale.
I look forward to searching for the best Black Friday deals. I plan ahead by previewing sale details as theyāre released & taking note of the sale start times.
Iāve had bad luck waiting for Black Fridayā¦everything I wanted was gone. Iām not a huge buyer of makeup but what I love much be popular or Iāve just been unlucky. I just get what I need as I go along. Sometimes there are sales, others not. It is fun looking at the holiday packaging ⦠all sparkly. I need sparkle !
No, other than emotionally steeling myself for the excessive consumptionāwhich I will hopefully not be subjected to now that I have escaped working in retail.
I’m really trying to this year since I have no income right now but nothing is set in stone yet.
I no longer participate in Black Friday as all my plans goes down the drain.
I end up buying things I don’t necessarily need.
Not really. The concept is still quite new here.
I do try to buy more expensive things, like home appliances on sale, but don’t need anything this year.
I will check out stores for favourite skincare, and maybe for some makeup, we’ll see.
I try to stop buying things that might go on sale during Black Friday around August/October. I keep track on a list of things that I want, and think about my priorities. Then I have sort of a lackadaisical approach where I will buy things that were already on my lists if I see a good discount, otherwise, I can often tell myself “well if I could wait this long… [I might not need to get it at all].”
A while ago, when you or Muse could give us sneak peeks, yes. But, Iām surprised how easy it was to disengage from the purchase process, while still following the content. Genevieve was somewhat of a role model. She was getting only products that truly suited her, were holes in her stash, and enhanced not only her looks, but her preexisting stash choices. Thanks, G.
In Portugal the good beauty stuff is hardly ever on sale, I’d be lucky to get 20% off! In Spain the prices are always better and they also have a lot more promotions year round. e.g right now/same shop, price of the Naked 3: 54,09 euros (Portugal) and 52,50 down to 36,75 in Spain. So I just keep an eye on what’s going on across the border if I want a good deal.
As for big appliances they usually never time going kaput with a good deal going on! haha! I keep an eye on gadgets and electronics though if I need anything. Tbh these are fairly new concepts in Portugal but while the marketing is the same, the prices are far from what you see as the norm in North America or in the UK for Boxing Day, so I wouldn’t lose my sleep over any of it here.
I used to but not so much now. I give myself a little budget ($100 CDN or so) to have some retail fun, but I stick to it. I did time my last couple of cell phone contract renewals to Black Friday as the deals are the best in Canada then.
Yes! I always time my smart phone replacements for Black Friday- best pricing to be found.
