I love warmer gold highlighters on myself more than cooler-toned ones (which are often more white gold or have a cooler gold-warmer gold shift a la NARS Albatross). I find gold to work well on my skin tone and pair well with a lot of blushes/bronzers, too.

For me personally, there is nothing to hate about gold highlighter! I love both cooler (Fenty Metal Moon) and warmer (MAC Gold Shaft). This I owe to the fact that I have a very neutral skintone, neither warm nor cool, so I can go in either direction within reason. Super warm, orangey golds can leave an odd cast on my face. So those are probably the only ones I avoid. Also, I avoid glitter bombs!
I feel the same way. I can do both. My skintone is also very neutral and I can go into both, but straddle the line and look better not going too far into either end of the spectrum. And I share your distaste for glitter bombs.
Exactly Wednesday! I stay away from the extreme ends of the gold spectrum. My absolute favorite gold highlighter is, was, and probably always will be, ABH x Amrezy.

Hi Andrea, I have just been feeling very blue and stressed lately. My appointment with the surgical oncologist is next Tuesday. As much as I want this over with, I am terrified of the repercussions: lack of help at home, the possibility of this affecting my ability to move either back to New Jersey or at least back across town.
I did a breast reduction and was terrified too & that doesn’t even come close to what you’re doing but my mom said they will not send you home before you’re ok (just make sure you have things ready so you don’t have to cook, go shopping or carry heavy stuff for a few days- this is to be safe w/ stitches not because you won’t be able to it!).
When are you planning on moving to NJ, it won’t be for a few months right? So you should be fine, up and running after a couple of weeks. Look at it as a C-section: think of ALL the women doing it by themselves and having to take care of a baby. You gave birth to 2 kids- this is nothing in comparison (& the pain in the behind won’t last for 18 years which is an added bonus).
Why don’t you get the boxes for moving now and keep them under you bed?
You could start calling oncologists now in NJ (to get ahead in case you need further treatment but you should have a better idea next week). Start putting your medical stuff together to send them.
It’s a cheeky thing to ask but haven’t you got sb close in NJ who’s got a big garage where you can store some of your stuff if need be? I’d start making phonecalls… That’s what friends are for and some people are so surprising. Go on FB and ask whether sb can visit for a couple of days when you go home.
I know you’re terrified but you need to do this. Don’t delay it and keep busy busy busy -don’t allow your brain the time to be anxious. Start thinking about what you’re keeping, donating… Start putting away your summer stuff. Ask your daughter/friends if they can spend the 1st weekend with you.
It won’t be easy for you but it can be done, many have done before. You’re a woman and you’re resilient, you can do this.

Skin tone really makes such a huge difference, because my answer is the opposite 🙂 I love how a warm gold highlighter looks on certain people, but with my cool undertones, they can come across as really brassy or jaundiced. However, I tend to get big compliments when I wear Albatross!
I confess to not being a fan. Unless they are very subtle, they are often just too much for my fair, pinkish skin tone. I prefer to reach for a purple or pink highlighter.
I love lighter gold and white gold highlighters. I think they’re flattering on my skin tone. I dislike very yellow gold ones,. They are overpowering on my pale skin and make me look jaundiced.
I love warm gold highlighters on my fair olive skin, especially in the summer when I have a tan. Coppers like Modern Mercury work well for me too. Icy golds and cooler pinks look jarring to me on my skin.
I am similar Stephanie, and I have tan, slightly olive skin that is much warmer and darker in the summer. Can do white golds in winter, but if I’m going to wear an icy, very cool highlighter, I need warmer and brighter shades to balance the whole look. Shimmers are good, glitters no!
So far, we all seem to agree that it’s a question of skin tone. There is nothing inherently wrong with a gold highlighter. It depends on the skin tone of the person who is wearing it. With my light, cool-leaning complexion, I can’t wear gold highlighters. They look off. They are simply stunning, though, on my friend who has a warmer complexion.
I love gold highlighters that do not run too deeply into yellow gold territory.. I am currently loving Natasha Denona Glam Dark (Star glow) as my go-to gold h/l.
I like gold highlighters on others, especially when they have a very soft glow, but definitely not on me – far too yellowish for my complexion.
I can’t wear gold highlighters at all; not white gold, not pale gold, not even champagne because warm tones make me look sickly. I’m a pale vampire with cool undertones and need a highlighter that’s light enough that it doesn’t leave a cast and either a cool or true neutral undertone. My preference is cool toned white, like Becca’s Pearl or Burberry Fresh Glow 01 White, and pale icy pink, like JD Glow Cold Azz Ice, ND Super Glow in Fair and Burberry Fresh Glow 02 Pink Pearl.
I like gold highlighters. My only problem’s when they’re too glittery (and “yellow”) because it brings out the yellow in me which is not a good look. The right amount of shimmer is what matters the most to me, otherwise it’s fine, both cool or warm-toned work. However I prefer pink highlighters with light silver or light gold shimmer.
Gold highlighters are so beautiful to look at. In the pan or other people. But my skin tone on my face tends to be yellowish, and the gold highlighter ends up turning a bit yellow. Doesn’t look very nice. So I go with a pretty light shimmery pearl shade.
While I love gold highlighters on others I stay away from the warmer golds myself. A cooler gold or a pale one works when used sparingly. My favourite gold is Mary-Lou Manizer, darker than that makesmy skin look odd. I much prefer whiter and more silvery highlighters. Absolute favourite is Becca Pearl.
