If a product is limited edition, are you more or less likely to purchase?

If I think I’ll review, then it being limited edition will make a higher priority over something that is permanent but maybe not as compelling… but it really just depends on what kind of products I can accommodate soon-ish, how good of a fit I think they’ll be for reviews, etc. I have a general budget I keep in mind, but it’s fluid and more of a yearly budget than monthly, so if more things release in August to review, I’ll purchase as needed. In beauty, everything comes in waves, so one month will be jaw-dropping in purchases and then two months later will be like crickets!

We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! Thank you for understanding!

I’m more likely to purchase LE eyeshadow palettes I really like. Take the recent Birds release from Dior; as soon as it showed up here, I knew there was a chance the blue palette might sell out, so I bought it before your review.
I don’t like to buy other LE l products because if I love it, I can’t later restock eg love the Mac x Hindash lippie but rarely use it – frustrating!

I think like many makeup users who’ve been around a while, I’m getting a bit fed up with limited edition releases, especially if they are so “limited” that those who want to buy them could be shut out entirely. On the other hand, if it’s a product that gets a good review here and is something I really love and think I’ll use and it’s relatively easy to get my hands on (bearing in mind that I prefer shopping in person in bricks and mortar stores), then I will certainly try to get it. But only if it is something truly wonderful that will work for me (like the Chanel Lumiere et Opulence quad).

It does not influence me. I don’t think ahead when it comes to makeup or skincare and if I don’t want or need something when it first comes to my attention, I am not going to buy it merely because I might want it in the future and it might not be available then.

I used to be more likely to buy limited edition stuff, now I’m less likely as I get more settled in my makeup tastes (and PO’d at how many LE releases are constantly being shoved down consumers throats lol)

Since I’m the kind of person that repurchase old favorites, limited editions don’t entice me.

I might buy a powder or lipstick in limited edition, if the cause or aesthetics convince me. But not a blush or eyeshadow (palette), since I love my custom made palette and it’s a nonsense to depot a limited product.

Being Limited Edition does not make me inclined to purchase at all – unless it is something I really, really love. I think the last limited edition anything I bought was Dior’s Bonne Etoile, a very long time ago.
I have a feeling that less brands are doing LE at the moment – although Dior’s Night Birds quint is LE and has apparently sold out quickly. I hope for all those who want this quint, that Dior restocks it. No brand can afford, these days, to not make their wanted products available for sale.

I never bought LE anything because I feared not being able to replace it when done. Due to everything in life I’m taking a more fun/less serious approach to my makeup. It’s fun. So what if I can’t replace it. I’ll find something else at that time. And that’s how I’m looking at makeup! As Wayne Goss says ‘it’s makeup, wear it and be pretty today!’

I used to buy LE’s a lot more often some years ago. I guess I had a bad case of FOMO 😀
These days I may buy an LE product if I really love it and will use it often. It must fill a void in my collection though. It’s sometimes seems practical to buy a new LE palette if it has a lot of my favourite colours in it, but if I can dupe it easily I no longer see the need to get a new palette.
I guess this is a no, I’m not likely to buy LE products.

I’m more likely to purchase, but I’m less likely to fall for that marketing ploy than I used to be when quantities really were more limited than they are now. These days it’s more of a false sense of scarcity because whatever it is most often sticks around long enough to go on sale. But if I REALLY want it, the fact that it’s LE will usually prompt an immediate purchase “just in case”! Then when I see it on sale later I realize I was fooled again!

Less likely to purchase LE items. I don’t care for that marketing tactic. Having said that, a couple of my favorite eyeshadow palettes were LE, BUT they were done with quality in mind – not just a quick buck. (Melt Beetlejuice Waiting Room, UD Game of Thrones eyeshadow palette).

It really depends. A lot of LE releases I’ve seen linger around so long they make me question whether they really were legitimately limited. Others are here and gone in a blink and I never had a chance. Either way it’s kind of frustrating. Between that and already having collected quite a bit of makeup, I’ve gotten very blasé about new releases, especially by big companies. There’s a growing amount of inertia at play so new releases have to work harder to gain my interest at all, regardless of if they’re LE or not.
