I love how dimensional they can look! The only downside is trying to pair them with other colors–as someone who is used to using a lot of shades at once, I have to consciously reduce it down, which is not my strongest suit!

They can be really striking as a wash, and they’re just beautiful with deep neutral/jewel matte shades. I don’t like pairing them with other shimmers very much, but that is because I’m not good at it. They are difficult to photograph on the eyes.
Con: I do not have the real estate to do them justice. I’m not big into colourful looks so I do not gravitate to the richer jewel toned shadows where they can really shine. Wait times and backorders are not my thing.
Pro: A little bit can elevate a very simple look and make it more special.
I love how easy it is to get a unique look with one or two shades tapped on the lid with my finger. Typically I’ll swatch the shades on my arm to see if the combo will look nice.
I don’t like the fall out that is common (even using an eyelid or glitter primer on my hooded eyes). There’s def a learning curve, but it’s fun to experiment!
What I love about them is how otherworldly and ethereal they can look…on smooth eyelids. Luckily for me, I can get away with wearing some. But I am 62, have very hooded, almond shaped lids that aren’t overly textured. Yet. But, I realize that this will eventually begin to show up, as time stops for no one. Therefore, I’m not about to drop a ton of coinage on getting a bunch them, either. I do believe that they are slightly more forgiving than straight up duochromes, though.
Ditto! In all aspects. If only they had existed when I was younger, but then I couldn’t have afforded them, Ha!
I love multichrome eye shadows a lot. I like that you can wear them as a one and done look.I apply a glitter primer first. Then I just use a matte shadow in the crease or to smooth out the edges.And it looks like you spent a lot of time using multiple eye shadows.
I also use them in the middle of the lid if I want to give extra dimension to my look. Last week I wore a pink eye look using Natasha Denona Love palette but it looked kinda flat. I added an orange-gold-pink eye shadow from Clionadh to the center of my lid. I got several compliments! My doctor and SA at Nordstrom both said my eye shadow looked pretty. I know it’s sad but I’m not going to many places LOL.
No, it’s not sad. We take the uplift where we can get it and for people to comment means it looked special.
I love how multchromes can look on others – especially you Christine, but with my hooded ageing eyes, wearing glasses full time and my lack of skill – they are not for me.
I love the beautiful colors, I have to be very careful on my eyes are hooded, deep set and 61 yrs old. I will only usually use one color at a time, as long as it doesn’t emphasis any crepiness I’m good, and so far so good. I only have a few in my collection so far, as they are a little intimidating so too many choices would not be a good thing.
I love how they color shift and change with different light/angles…on other people’s eyes. My eyes are small and hooded, so I rarely get the full effect of the color shift. I do get lots of compliments, though, when I wear Clionadah iridescent multichromes. The lighter colors week to work better for me. Someone told me I looked like I had mermaid eyes. 🙂
