I love the color combinations that duochrome shadows can give! Unfortunately, I wear glasses, and most of the subtle shifting colors can’t be seen well enough to justify spending the money on them. So … gorgeous on other people, invisible on myself.
I have to disagree with you on this as I also wear glasses. I wear at least one duo/multi chrome shade everyday that I drive for Uber and get so many compliments from my female riders. So apparently they are visible. Maybe try wearing them over another solid color that makes them pop even more.
I love how interesting some of them look with their respective color flips. They’re wonderful when formulated well!
However, sometimes they can emphasize lid texture if they are not made well or have too thin of a texture. That is something that I absolutely hate.
I love everything about them!!
I love how multi-chrome eye shadows give the illusion of using more than one eye shadow. They add interest to my look because they are so multifaceted. I especially love that I can wear a single multi-chrome shadow with just a crease color and be done. They’re so beautiful and can give me a look that seems like I have a lot of skill.
I don’t like that they’re expensive and the best are made only by a few Indie brands.
I wish more were in wearable tones. They can be quite cartoonishand extreme. But my favorites have been peach/pink/coral/gold/bronze flips because they add interest without being a spectacle.
Overall, I really enjoy them. However, I haven’t found a way for them to really work on me. I wear glasses, and I have deep set eyes, so they only really work on the lower lash line for the most part. I actually use some of my loose pigments for nail art, which when they really get to shine.
LIKE: I love how pretty, interesting, and dimensional they are.
DISLIKE:. They can be more expensive (and multichromes get really expensive). To really show their shift on the eyes, most require glitter glue or wetting them with water, setting spray, or mixing medium.
small lid space plus glasses means i’m not a good canvas for it but i sometimes enjoy them as a one and done
Personally, I don’t wear duochrome eyeshadows as I have ageing, hooded eyes and they really wouldn’t suit me. Wearing glasses, I also think that the shifts in colour wouldn’t be visible either and those with a blackened base would just end up looking very muddy on me.
However I do think they would look beautiful on others and I do appreciate the complexities of the shades.
I wish they were done by more brands or mainstream these smaller indie brands seem to struggle with formula, production, customer service and shipping. Also waiting 2 months for your items to arrive is a pain.
They are so fun, but normally run: electric purple, fuchsia, chartreuse, acid green to stop sign red. Oddly enough, I don’t own anything that those colors would enhance, except LBDs. The ones I tried had a fair amount of fallout and they do emphasize wrinkles like crazy!
I LOVE them. The way they shift color. I’m not talking the high glam applying it. That’s nice for night parties. But for the daytime I think they look polished and pretty.
The only duochromes I’ve tried are those from MAC and I love them but they look positively dull and tame compared with those amazing offerings from companies like Clionadh and Terra Moons. I don’t have any of those – I only see them here – and while I’m blown away entirely by their complexity and shade-shifting, I don’t know if I’d be all that comfortable wearing them, I guess because if I apply a moss green shadow (for example), I want it to stay more or less that colour and not shift to purple, magenta and acidic yellow. But they amaze me and I am fairly sure that if I could lay my hands on these brands in-store and swatch them on me, I’d cave and buy a few of them.
I love shiny eye shadows and duochromes always look so beautiful! I can’t think of anything not to like about them!
I could say that for me there’s nothing not to like, but with some thought, I did find something.
Like: colors, shifts, shimmer of it all. The special combination of colors!
Don’t like: Price, as they are usually more expensive. Also perhaps, if they’re too “foiled” (or thick) some creasing. And with further thought, sometimes the color you like most of the two isn’t the one that the light (angle) catches. 😉
AMEN, Sissta!!! I have SUCH a hard time finding a good duo/multichrome that doesn’t crease like CRAZY on my stupid hooded lids!!! I get SOOO frustrated…I’m also trying REALLY hard to get over my denial of the fact that I am aging, too!!! Lol 😉
