Cream Blushes
I love when they dry down enough not to feel tacky or slippery on my skin but have a nice luminosity/dewiness to them. I’ll reach for a powder blush if I want something more matte, so when I opt for cream blush, I want some dew!

I love how easy they are to use. I can put it on with my fingers (I spend too long with eyeshadows so I save time here), and they are easier to control in terms of how much and where I want it to go. Sometimes I’ll get streaks from the fixating spray. Cream is always more forviging and easier to fix.
The one I have now also doubles as a lipstick which is handy when I’m in a massive hurry and need to go out just for a couple of minutes but still want to look less ghost-like.
Sometimes I do cream highlighter and blush and then go over it with a bit of foundation and I get this “healthy from within” sort of look which I really like.
I rarely wear cream blush.. I went through a phase about a decade ago where it was what I wore most (hello, remember illamasqua), but at this stage of skin, I prefer powder. I do like they can lend a very natural looking flush. I am not a fan of formulas which sit precariously on top of the skin.
I love the ones that dry down for the most part, otherwise they’ll slide down my face because I have oily skin. Those are my preference, but I don’t want them to look too dry, on the other hand, either.
I mostly use powder blushes probably because I know they don’t go bad as fast as a cream would. But I have used cream blushes and they do look and apply nice. If my skin gets any drier I might have to switch though. I have used ND and I like her brand for creams.
Since I only wear powder/mineral powder as foundation, cream blush would never work. The less cream anything on my oily skin the better. I do love looking at cream blushes though because I think the pigment is really pure and dewy. I wish! I’ve never found my definitive blush. I’ve tried too. I did order Nars Dominate today in the hopes I can do a ‘sunburned’ look on this N5 complexion. Blush is complicated!!!
A dewy pop of color! I don’t like when they stay tacky, lift my tinted sunscreen, or emphasize skin texture. So far I’ve had good results with Stila convertible color, Ilia multi stick and Tower beach please. I tap them on with my finger. Tower definitely stays more dewy than the others.
Personally, as I mentioned on the previous post, I don’t use cream blushes at all because I am wary of how dewy they may end up looking on my cheeks – I really prefer a matte finish.
Secondly, the issue is also how much product you end up getting on either your brush or fingertips in application – so you may end up with too much on your hands. I don’t like applying blush with my fingertips at all.
Thirdly, some cream blushes are a tad (or more) tacky to the touch and I don’t like that either.
All in all, I am happy with matte blushes in a powder format for me.
I love how natural cream blushes look especially when I am going for a no makeup look. Cream blushes that diffuse upon application and can be blended out evenly with my fingers are my favorite.
I don’t wear cream blush at all. One, forget to put on before loose powder. Two, don’t put enough on and then finish with loose powder then realize you can barely see I have blush on.
Christina! Let me add here that I’m not sure what I or any of us would do without you and your brilliance with swatches. I have zero idea how you do it and keep it all straight, the mind boggles! But because of you I was ready to zip out and buy Nars Dominate blush, then I look at your dupes and low and behold Milani Red Vino is EXACTLY the color I’m looking for. You saved me $$ but most of all I’m getting the shade I really desire. I feel like I should put you on my ‘favorite people’ holiday gift list! You and Wayne Goss and Linda Eldridge was the majors in the beauty biz. Thank you ♥️
Thank you so much, Nina <3 This was so nice to read!
I LOVE cream blushes!! It’s the majority of what I use. I love the Fenty ones cause they come in some really beautiful shades. I also love the Glossier liquid blushes.
Sometimes they can be a little tacky though, and my hair sticks in them, lol!

I love cream blush. I am very dry on my cheeks so powder blush can look powdery.
It’s been the year of the cream blush and I have to stop myself from ordering all of them.
Favorites are Bobbi Brown pot rouges, they are down to 3 shades?, I have all 3.
Le Metier de beaute seems to be making a comeback and I have their newest shade Toujours and it’s a deep rosy pink.
I hope this trend continues
LIKE: They’re usually easy to use. They can be very natural looking.
DISLIKE: Most formulas don’t stand up to my oily skin. They go bad more quickly than powders. They can melt when traveling in hot weather.
