Lipgloss
I love how shiny they are on the lips and how they can often smooth/add the illusion of volume. The downside is that a lot of formulas can settle into lip lines or not last that long.

If I don’t need to wear a mask, I love the look and usually the feel of lipgloss. Especially over my lipstick in a corresponding or complementary shade! They can make my lips look plumper and less dry.
Only caveat is that I have 2 semi-longhair kitties and their furs get my masks whenever I do laundry, so that’s no fun picking furs off of my lips, lol. Another issue is that many lighter, milkier types of shades look awful on me. They settle in my lip lines and look yucky.
I have yet to find a lipgloss that isn’t sticky. (Yes, even universally beloved Fenty I can’t wear.) I just avoid them!
Oddly enough, a lot of lipgloss makes my throat sore; it may be an allergy to the scent paired with a formula that is more likely to get inside my mouth, as I don’t have any problem at all with lipsticks or other formulas of lip products. But when I do find a lipgloss that doesn’t irritate my throat, I use the crap out of it as they are nice to throw on (especially if they’re clear) and wear around the house. I also compulsively lick my lips when I don’t have something on them, so ease of application is something I enjoy.
I used to love lipgloss way back when, I loved how shiny my lips looked but in a very understated way! I’ve fallen out of love with it over time and I haven’t bought one in forever tbh. I love how the matte ones look really matte now, I think the coloured ones always had pearls back in the day which, even today, I’m not particularly fond of.
Nowadays you can get them to last forever but before they’d be gone in no time and every now and then I’d end up with sticky stuff inside my handbag. What I reeeeally don’t like – and just can’t get past- is the “mechanics” of it: you swipe it over your (not-so-clean) lips and then you put it back in… and you do that over and over again until it smells funny which never takes long! I also think lipgloss needs to be applied more carefully (I would need a mirror) in general, but specially with brighter and bolder colours.
Love the look! Hate any stickiness.
I like it when lip glosses are moisturizing. For the most part I don’t like them. I don’t like the stickiness, the shininess, or that a lot of them have menthol in them. No stinging lips, thank you!
I hate how lipgloss feels on the lips, I hate how lipgloss looks on my lips, I hate how lipgloss goes on cups, I hate how hair (or anything else) sticks in lipgloss, I hate how unhygienic lipgloss is (I don’t use anymore doe foot applicator), and I can probably find many other reasons I hate lipgloss.
I have no personal issues with lipgloss or people wearing / loving lipgloss… but I hate lipgloss. 😆 I wouldn’t purchase one and I feel grossed out just by the taught of my lips being covered in lipgloss.
I’m allergic to lipgloss. Any brand I’ve ever tried. After a few wears my lips become rough, scaly and peel. Almost like they are burned. It’s not just the “plumping” ones. Sucks because I have really liked the Fenty and the Glossier ones.
There’s not much I like about lipglosses. I generally find them too tacky and the urge to lick my lips a lot is strong. In the past I have found them to be very drying on my lips and that has resulted in them cracking and chapping.
I realise that the newer formulas are much better nowadays, but I am still wary.
I’m not a huge fan because I tend to find the ones that always end up feeling sticky or overly thick and that drives me nuts. I’m always fighting my hair because it just naturally wants to fall in my face. The last thing I need is my makeup encouraging that by hanging on to anything that comes near it. When I do find a rare gem I enjoy the added shine and softness they give my lips. I also appreciate that I can use bolder colors for a sheer look if I’m not feeling the full shade.
I like lipgloss in general, but they can’t be of the milky type, the makes my lips look worse than they are when the gloss settles in lip lines. I also don’t like very dark and or opaque ones. I love glosses with a sheen, pearl, shimmer and even glitter.
My favourite glosses are all from MAC, though I loved one from NARS, I guess it was one of may products from them called, you know, Orgasm.
What I don’t like is wearing glosses with my hair lose on a windy day, for obvious reasons, hairy lips and streaks of gloss all over the face isn’t fun.
I just got into wearing lipgloss about two years back. I started with the Fenty Xmas mini set and really liked them. Have since gotten a few more Fenty’s. I also got the Pat McGrath mini lust sets (two of them) – I thin last year and really liked these as well. And now I am exploring brands such as NYX Buttergloss and Tower28. I like that lipglosses can be simple yet still stylish. I have to say that even without mask wearing I would still enjoy these more than I have traditional lipsticks that can be so messy cause I’m that kind of girl. Its so easy to reapply lipglosses – can do it without a mirror whereas with traditional lipsticks there are risk that you may look crazy. Like lipsticks, not all lip glosses are created equal so I am not too adventurous in which ones I try. I like a good quality lipgloss and I thin they are great in finishing a look whether it be a simple “no makeup makeup” or a full on glam. Yep, I think I am sold on lipglosses.
Like: Instant access to full, juicy looking lips
Don’t like: Messy streaks across your face when the wind gets in your hair
I get lipgloss ambitions every once in a while, and then abandon them quickly when I remember why I don’t like it. It’s slippy, it’s sticky, and it seems to migrate. At the moment I’m more about a balmy lipsticks, like the Pat McGrath Lip Fetish and the Lisa Eldridge Lucent ones, which have some shine without the annoying parts.
I did a major purge on my whole lip stuff collection recently and have kept four lipglosses (soon to be 3): one PML, one Charlotte Tilbury collagen lip bath, and two Lisa Eldridges (one will be going to my sister, since the color isn’t the best on me). Comparatively, I probably have about 50 bullet/liquid lipsticks in varying formulas.
I like that they can add a sparkle without it being too much and with a little of your own natural lip color coming through. I have such a time matching lipstick to my looks.
